Iron Maiden’s Nicko McBrain Is “85 to 90 Percent Back to Strength” After Suffering Stroke in January
Iron Maiden drummer Nicko McBrain has revealed that he’s almost back to full strength after suffering a stroke in January.
Back in August, McBrain issued a written statement and posted a video message via Iron Maiden’s website, informing fans that he was temporarily paralyzed on his right side. At the time of the video, he considered himself 70-percent recovered, despite performing with Maiden on their summer European dates.
In conjunction with Iron Maiden’s recent performance at the Power Trip festival, McBrain offered an update on his health and recovery in an interview on SiriusXM’s Trunk Nation Power Trip Special.
“It’s going great,” the drummer said [as transcribed by Blabbermouth]. “It started off a little shaky for me, but as the time [went on] and the more shows we performed, I started to get a little bit more strength and they’d been really rocking out well. And the last couple of months have been fantastic.

Iron Maiden drummer Nicko McBrain has revealed that he suffered a stroke back in January.
McBrain issued a written statement and posted a video message via Iron Maiden’s website, informing fans that he was temporarily paralyzed on his right side. He has mostly recovered but is still not at 100%, despite performing with Maiden on their summer European dates, which conclude with a Friday (August 4th) set at Germany’s Wacken Open Air festival.
The drummer’s full statement reads as follows:
“I hope this message finds you all well!
The reason I’m writing to you all today is to let you know of a very serious health problem that I have been through. In January I had a stroke, thank the Lord it was a minor one referred to as a Tia. It left me paralyzed on my right side from my shoulder on down, of course I...

Iron Maiden has been rocking it out hard ever since their ‘The Future Past Tour 2023’ took off to a strong start. But as the tour goes on, the band has set Europe ablaze with power packed performances taking place all the way from Czech Republic to Italy.
Just last week the band concluded their Venice concert, and are now in Spain as they finished their concert in Barcelona, leaving their fans awe struck with metal spirit.
Taking to Instagram, the band thanked their fans at Barcelona and captioned: “Thank you, Barcelona!”
The concert ended on the night of July 18 (local time) complete with much theatricality, and filling out the stadiums the moment they announced their concert, the tickets began selling out faster than hot cakes.
The legendary heavy metal band however are also big football fans, and some time prior to the concert they met up with the Football Club...

Iron Maiden guitarist Adrian Smith has joined forces with guitarist Richie Kotzen, best known for stints in Poison and Mr. Big, for a bluesy, hard-rock collaboration they’ve dubbed Smith/Kotzen. The artists will drop a self-titled release on March 26th, and they’re previewing it with “Taking My Chances,” which shows off how their sensibilities blend as Smith’s bluesy licks complement Kotzen’s shredding and husky vocals.

“I don’t know what I’d call Teenage Time Killers, but I do know it’s a supergroup of fucking badass musicians and singers,” Corrosion of Conformity drummer Reed Mullin told Rolling Stone in 2015 of his all-star punk-meets-metal side project. Their first album, Greatest Hits Vol. 1, came out that year.
Now, in the wake of Mullin’s death last month, his core collaborators in Teenage Time Killers — guitarist and co-songwriter Mick Murphy, also of My Ruin, and Foo Fighters studio engineer John Lousteau — have released a series of pro-shot...

When an earthquake decimated parts of Armenia and killing between 25,000 to 50,000 people in 1988, the world was in shock. The Ussr earmarked the equivalent of billions of dollars to help rebuild, the U.S. sent medical aid and search dogs, and people from all over Europe came to help. Perhaps the most surprising fundraising effort, though, came from a who’s who of rock and metal legends calling themselves Rock Aid Armenia. The supergroup, which featured Deep Purple’s Ritchie Blackmore, Pink Floyd’s David Gilmour, Queen’s Brian May and Black Sabbath’s Tony Iommi,...

Chicago – On a hot and humid night – with dark ominous clouds enveloping the Hollywood Casino Amphitheater in Tinley Park, Ill. on June 15th, 2017 – the crowd gathered to see Iron Maiden, and spilled into their seats like a cold beer from the tap. The heavy metal-loving masses, with their torn jeans and ever-present mullets, got ready for the latest show in the band’s “The Book of Souls” World Tour by responding in Pavlovian fashion to UFO’s “Doctor Doctor” (Maiden’s intro song), as it boomed from the venue’s speakers.
The band’s frontman Bruce Dickinson initially appeared on stage, staring enchantingly into a steaming cauldron while summoning the spirits of all things Iron Maiden. The 58 year-old singer’s recent brush with cancer does not appear to be slowing him down. If anything, it has helped him appreciate his incredible fortune to be on stage with his fellow metal mavericks.

[[tmz:video id="0_2no061po"]] Iron Maiden wasn't just a hard rocking band, they were also partying way harder than any other legendary band ... according to their drummer, Nicko McBrain. Nicko was outside NBC in NYC when he got all nostalgic about Maiden's more than 40 years of touring and, no doubt, destroying a hotel room or two. When we asked him if anyone came close to keeping pace in the partying department ... he gave props to some L.A. based rockers.

Some people would say that 1968 was the greatest year in Heavy Metal history. That year the founders of the genre, Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, and Black Sabbath, were formed. If it hadn’t been for those guys nothing else would have followed and that, as they say, is that.
Then there are rest of us who would love to smack those people in the face. The seventies came to a terrible end with the towering giants of Zeppelin and Sabbath crashing hard. The bright star that was Deep Purple had burnt out a long time before. It was a time for a changing of the guard, time for Heavy Metal music to take things up a notch if it was going to stay alive.

Some of Heavy Metal’s greatest headbangers have joined together to form a massive supergroup for charity.
Black Sabbath’s Tony Iommi and Deep Purple’s Ian Gillan will front WhoCares, a charity band that also features Whitesnake keyboardist Jon Lord and Iron Maiden drummer Nicko McBrain. Metallica bassist Jason Newsted has also joined the band for two charity songs due out shortly.
According to Gillan.com, the band “has recorded two brand new songs with the intent to support the rebuilding of a music school in Gyumri, Armenia. Both Gillan and Iommi have spent a lot of time in Armenia, fallen in love with the country and the people and have dedicated a lot of work to a nation still shocked after the earthquake that struck Armenia on December 7, 1988 at 11:41am.”
