It’s the Kardashians, like you’ve never seen them before.
In the wake of departing E! after 20 seasons with their signature reality show Keeping Up With the Kardashians, the family took the concept of putting their personal lives on camera to the next level, and that is with Hulu in their revamped series The Kardashians. Everything up about it is more luxurious: glitzy production quality, jaw-dropping drone cinematography, and overall a pivot to embrace a more documentary tone.

Oklahoma Governor Kevin Stitt commuted the death sentence of Julius Jones hours before he was set to be executed for a murder conviction on Thursday. Jones will now serve life in prison, The New York Times reports.
“After prayerful consideration and reviewing materials presented by all sides of this case, I have determined to commute Julius Jones’s sentence to life imprisonment without the possibility of parole,” Stitt said in a statement.
Jones was convicted in 2002 of first-degree murder in the killing of Paul Howell during a carjacking where he was fatally shot in 1999. Jones,...

Oklahoma Gov. Kevin Stitt granted clemency on Thursday to Julius Jones, just hours before he was to be executed for a murder conviction.
Jones’ case had drawn the attention of Kim Kardashian and other celebrities. Kardashian, an advocate for criminal justice reform, tweeted about Stitt’s decision, “Thank you so much Governor Stitt for commuting Julius Jones sentence to life without parole and stopping his execution today.” She said that she spoke to Jones on the phone on Wednesday.
“He also wanted me to pass a few messages along that were really important to him,” she wrote. “The most important is that you have to always make sure you are doing the right thing. Julius was hanging out with the wrong crowd and that landed him in the position he’s in today.”
I’m so grateful to everyone who used their voice and helped to save Julius’s life today.

ABC’s “The Last Defense” is living up to its name for subject Julius Jones.
Thanks to some new evidence of racial bias uncovered by the ABC documentary, death row-inmate Jones could get a new hearing from the Oklahoma Court of Criminal Appeals (Occa), which has now withdrawn a June order denying a defense attorney’s requests to look at evidence of racial bias by a jury, per The City Sentinel. The judges also concluded they could not ignore court mismanagement of exhibits earlier this year.
“The Last Defense” found that one of the jurors who convicted Jones, who is black, in the 1999 murder of Paul Howell used the N-word during deliberations about the then-defendant.

Julius Jones was a 19 year-old star athlete who ran around with the wrong crowd and then was fingered for murdering an upper class white man Paul Howell in a carjacking gone wrong, but ABC’s new docu-series The Last Defense has over the past three weeks been re-examining the case, tearing holes in the prosecution’s case with one valid question after another including how racism played out in the case. Now, the Oklahoma Court of Criminal Appeals is going to take another look at the case, and Jones’ lawyer is crediting The Last Defense for bringing national attention to racism in the criminal justice system.
The show, which aired at 10 Pm on ABC was a seven-part series in its first season that ended Tuesday night. On Wednesday, it was reported on ABC’s Oklahoma affiliate Koco that the Appeals Court decided to take a look at racism as it relates to the Jones’ case.

The title of Mark Sawicki’s book, Animating with Stop Motion Pro, is both entirely accurate and a complete understatement. Contained within these pages is not only an easy-to-follow yet comprehensive guide to the software, process, and techniques necessary for basic animation, it also serves as an all-encompassing textbook — full of notes, references, and passages to the historical forbearers of the animated film form.
Sawicki’s name comes with credibility, as he has taught visual effects for over 20 years, and has contributed special effects work to several MTV videos, the television series, Star Trek, and films such as Tropic Thunder, Premonition, 40 Year Old Virgin, and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.
It should be noted that despite Sawicki’s evident prowess and understanding of the tools and techniques, the book is distinctly geared towards novice and intermediate stop motion animators, model makers, animated filmmakers, and students. Luckily, his guidelines and...
