Hideo Kojima is one of the most respected names in the gaming industry, and his creative vision is out of this world. Complicated storylines are right up his alley, and the upcoming Marvel movie is something he’s excited for.
Deadpool and Wolverine is a dream come true for MCU fans as it tackles the multiverse but could be improved through gaming. The multiverse is a canvas of artistic opportunity, and it could benefit from Kojima’s weirdness and love for stories that appeal to humanity.

With Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire squashing the box office and Godzilla Minus One earning that coveted first Academy Award for the series, talk of Godzilla is obviously high. As such, Godzilla: Final Wars director Ryuhei Kitamura recently revealed that the film was close to getting a Mechagodzilla redesign by none other than Metal Gear Solid and Death Stranding artist Yoji Shinkawa.
In an interview with Kaiju United on the 20th anniversary of Godzilla: Final Wars, Kitamura–who was enlisted by Metal Gear Solid creator Hideo Kojima to direct the cut scenes in the Gamecube-exclusive Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes–revealed how he had gotten Shinkawa for Godzilla: Final Wars.
“When I worked on Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes, I asked nicely to Kojima-san, can I borrow your genius designer? He asked, what are you going to do? And I said I’m going to do final Godzilla!

Hideo Kojima parted ways around nine years ago with Konami following the release of Metal Gear Solid V. The creator couldn’t stand to work with the Japanese publisher after years of being treated poorly. His first solo game was Death Stranding, which released back in 2019. These two universes could be more related than fans know.
The iconic artist Yoji Shinkawa is the Lead Character Designer at Kojima Productions and has been a collaborator of Hideo Kojima’s for decades. He has worked on the design for character in both the Mgs universe and Death Stranding, which means that some details are very similar across both games. The artist has a unique style that is really loved by fans of both franchises.

Death Stranding is Hideo Kojima’s first independent project in years, and Sony was generous enough to help give the legendary auteur of video games a hand to find his footing in the larger video game industry. Each director has their unique approach to creating a film or game, Kojima is a more collaborative person in nature and even took the opinions and ideas of stuntmen like Justin Leeper into account.
Great leaders know when to listen to their subordinates, in this case, Leeper reveals he has contributed a significant amount of input for Death Stranding apart from the contributions he has made while wearing the motion capture suit. Kojima Productions may be following Hideo’s instincts but the director’s ears are also sharp.

In the documentary “Connecting Worlds” available on Disney+, Danish actor and former James Bond villain Mads Mikkelsen talks about his friendship with legendary video game director Hideo Kojima and how he became Cliff Unger.
The documentary heavily focuses on director Hideo Kojima’s journey of becoming an independent studio and building Death Stranding. The documentary sheds new light on how Mikkelsen got involved in the game.
The veteran actor has a network of friends within the industry and how he came across this project was through Danish film director Nicolas Winding Refn who also starred in the game as Heartman.

Sony was the first to provide support to Hideo Kojima after he parted ways with Konami, allowing him to establish himself as an independent game developer. This freedom has granted Kojima to create games without budget limitations and operate with unrestricted creative control.
At the time when Kojima initially pitched a brand new IP to publishers and waited to see which one would gamble on their brand. Sony did not hesitate and jumped at the opportunity to work with the legendary director and the project turned out to be Death Stranding, Kojima’s latest attempt to redefine the stealth action genre.

The creator of the popular Metal Gear series and director of Death Stranding, Hideo Kojima, takes a shot at former publisher Konami for their lack of trust and restrictive terms. The early segment of the Connecting Worlds documentary that is exclusively streaming on Disney+ talks about his experiences with his former company which was Konami and how he was constricted on fully realizing his vision.
Developing video games is not a cheap hobby, there are multitudes of layers to understand and people to go through that will occasionally challenge the feasibility of the project and may not see the light of day. Kojima made the brave decision to part ways with Konami and be an independent studio moving forward, fortunately, his credibility served him well which opened countless doors for his company. Sony filled in the void and backed Kojima’s first new and original IP while respecting his independence.

Netflix’s Avatar: The Last Airbender started airing on the 22nd of February and is yet another attempt at rebooting a live-action adaptation of the popular television series from 2005. In the first few days since its release so far, the show has garnered decently good reviews.
The Netflix adaptation isn’t branded as being perfect but is rated rather high for its action with average ratings for narrative and special effects. Not too long ago, there was a movie adaptation that received highly negative reviews. A video game adaptation from last year, however, made those negative reviews sound far better after getting even more battered in the reviews.

Yoji Shinkawa has been collaborating with the famous video game director Hideo Kojima for most of his career. The Metal Gear franchise was lucky enough to benefit from his artistic talent, and the entertainment industry has recognized his work for its unique style.
During the Connecting Worlds documentary, Yoji talked about his experiences working with Hideo and how his game Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty somehow predicted the future, like the tragic terrorist attack in New York City on September 11, 2001.
Although it was purely coincidental, it is remarkable how Hideo managed to do it again during the Covid-19 pandemic a few short months after the release of Death Stranding.
Sarcastically stating how the legendary director may be a prophet, Shinkawa remained true to his craft and helped make the best game possible. Oftentimes, especially around that period when violence and terrorism were at an all-time high with conflicts,...

After the big reveal last week of Metal Gear Solid Δ: Snake Eater (not Triangle!), you’re probably wondering about the remake’s details. Namely, if series creator Hideo Kojima is involved with it, and if the team behind Metal Gear Solid Δ are working on additional Metal Gear Solid remakes. IGN sat down with the team to discuss just that and more.
For starters, if you had any lingering thoughts that Kojima was involved, he’s not. Neither is Yoji Shinkawa, whose art graced the Metal Gear Solid series since the first game, and is now working with Kojima at Kojima Productions. “They are not involved,” a Konami spokesperson said. The same spokesperson did say that the new development team “will work hard to create this remake”, as well as the ports for the Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection that was also announced at the same time as the Snake Eater remake.

Death Stranding is one of the most bizarre and unique games ever made, which isn’t so surprising when you consider it’s the first project from an independent Kojima Productions, where the legendary video game auteur Hideo Kojima is finally completely free to let his imagination run wild. Setting players on a grueling trek across a post-apocalyptic United States while delivering valuable cargo along the way, Death Stranding may be Kojima’s most divisive game (although I love it). Some have labeled it a “walking simulator” while others hail it as a prescient work of art that may even have predicted the state of the world during the Covid-19 pandemic.
However you ultimately feel about the game, it was difficult to ignore Death Stranding‘s weirdness when it first released on the PlayStation 4 last year. Now the title has hit PC, giving a new group of gamers the chance...

When people think of the Metal Gear Solid franchise, they generally think of Hideo Kojima’s masterfully-executed stealth games, but the franchise goes beyond just the much beloved action series. Those who don’t yet know may be interested to hear that a movie’s currently in development with Jordan Vogt-Roberts (King: Skull Island) attached to helm. And now, it appears that the young director’s throwing shade at the Black Widow film, making claims that it may have copied some aspects of the video game series.
In a post on Twitter recently, he specifically pointed to similarities between Mgs and the Black Widow trailer, making reference to a certain “patriot who saved the world.”
Honest question.
I’m firm believer of parallel thinking, but…
Is there any Black Widow pre the release of Metal Gear Solid 3 in 2004 that establishes this white suit?
It sure reminds me of a certain...

Hideo Kojima distances himself from Konami's spin-off, Metal Gear Survive and its zombie-focused action...
Series creator Hideo Kojima may have left Konami after almost 30 years of service, but the Japanese firm has no intention of letting the Metal Gear brand fade into history. At the Tokyo Game Show, Konami showed off a chunk of its current work in progress, the Phantom Pain spin-off Metal Gear Survive. It sees a quartet of elite soldiers sucked into an alternate dimension, where they have to use their skills of stealth, infiltration and shooting things with guns to hold out against an army of zombies.
Built using Metal Gear Solid V's Fox engine, Survive looks like a solid multiplayer action game, though some series fans may wonder what the shuffling undead have to do with Kojima's celebrated stealth series. Kojima was also at Tgs, and wondering exactly the same thing.

Thinking about it, how does one guy envision such great games such as Metal Gear or Zone of the Enders, while at the same time carrying an entire company on his shoulders? Hideo Kojima, owner of Kojima Productions, has been doing just that for Konami for decades now. The creator of one of the most iconic franchises in gaming has even stepped up to have a big role in the publisher side of things. He helps not only operate Kojima Productions, but Konami itself. Seems logical, through one of your leading men into bigger shoes. Yet how does he do it?

As new content rollouts go, Konami's newest reveal for 'Metal Gear Solid V' continues the "I.V. drop method" that many game publishers have employed with their big titles in recent years. This latest media event wasn't an especially large content reveal, but it was the first live demo of 'Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes'.
The presentation began with the same opening in Camp Omega from last year, the one with the imprisoned child and the Walkman. That also included a scene with a handful of Fox patches being tossed to the wind and rain. This slightly altered version of the intro called attention to a red patch, emblematic of the the red logo of the new Kojima Productions Los Angeles office, which incidentally, was where we watched this presentation. This slightly altered version of the intro called attention to a red patch, emblematic of the the red logo of the new Kojima Productions Los Angeles office, which incidentally, was where we watched this presentation. As a tweak to...

Halo 4 designer David Ellis has called out Hideo Kojima in relation to the Japanese developer’s recent explanation that he wanted to make the character designs of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain more “erotic,” by stating that the comment is “disgusting.”
The controversy over Kojima’s comments all started out, as most things do these days, over some Tweets sent out on September 4th. In describing the on-going development of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, Kojima posted:
“I’ve been ordering to Yoji Shinkawa to make the character more erotic, and he did it well. Recently I’ve been making characters this way. I create the setting thoroughly, how he/she spent early life, name, style, favorite phrase, fashion, action to stand the character out. The initial target is to make u want to do cosplay or its figurine to sell well.”

Yesterday, Hideo Kojima teased a provocative first image for "Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain" mute sniper Quiet. Today, we get to see her in all of her fishnet-wearing glory.
The reveal comes a couple of days after Kojima said he was ordering his character artist Yoji Shinkawa to make the character design more "erotic." in an address to cosplayers and fans of the "Metal Gear Solid" franchise, Kojima says his aim with the character was to make her more attractive as a costume option.
Quiet's face is being modeled after that of actress Stefanie Joosten, using the updated Fox Engine.
From a personal standpoint, on its own, the thong and fishnets design is fine, if a little plain (especially given some of the wild characters we've seen in the franchise's past). In the context of a game that blends child soldiers and Ptsd, this feels like a misstep,...

When we first set foot in Konami's new Los Angeles studio for Kojima Productions, we thought the invitation was merely to provide a fitting setting for the developer/publisher to showcase more gameplay of the hotly anticipated 'Metal Gear Solid V'. We certainly got to see that gameplay, but more on that in another article shortly. What we didn't realize was that September 5, 2013 was also the formal date of the studio's opening. With Hideo Kojima, Yoji Shinkawa, and other high level staff from Japan present, we watched as they carried out a good fortune opening ceremony. Known as kagami biraki, the tradition involves smashing mallets on top of a sake barrel, thereby opening the lid. Everyone was served sake in commemorative Kojima Productions/Konami wood sake cups, which was then followed by a brief toast.

Konami teams up with Platinum Games to deliver a fantastic action game. Here's our review of Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance...
On paper, the meeting of Hideo Kojima’s Metal Gear stealth series with Platinum Games, whose previous output has included the gloriously demented Bayonetta, MadWorld and underrated shooter Vanquish, seems like a curious one. And with Revengeance taking the series closer to the chaotic combat of Bayonetta than the slow-build stealth thrills of Guns Of The Patriots, you might wonder whether any of the Metal Gear DNA would be left in the mix.
From exhilarating start to dizzying finish, Revengeance dispels those rumours with a flurry of tempered steel. It’s a violent, hectic action game, no doubt about it, but it’s also immediately recognisable as a Metal Gear entry. The story centres around Raiden, the silver-haired warrior first introduced in MGS2. While...

Ahead of the launch of Metal Gear Solid: Revengeance this month, we chart the origins of Hideo Kojima's classic Metal Gear series...
When the seminal Metal Gear Solid launched to huge acclaim in 1998, many of its non-Japanese fans were probably unaware that it wasn't the first game in the series. And yet, in spite of its perfectly-formed gameplay, which defined the stealth genre and made creator Hideo Kojima a celebrity in gaming circles, Metal Gear Solid was the end result of years of refinement and experimentation by its creator.
Like so many designers whose careers began in the early 80s, Kojima initially had no particular desire to become involved in the games industry at all. It was while studying economics at university, and discovering such classics as Super Mario Bros (he later called Miyamoto's platformer, "The game of my destiny), that Kojima first began...

During a discussion with Spike TV's Geoff Keighley, Hideo Kojima took the stage at Pax Prime to talk to the audience about the past, present, and future of the Metal Gear franchise, including his own wishes for a Big Boss game, as well as fan-casting the recently-announced Metal Gear movie.
Coming on stage in his magnificently shiny shirt (I'd show you a photo, but I was all the way up in the nosebleed section), Hideo Kojima told the audience through his translator that this was his first Pax. He hadn't gotten a chance to check out the show, but the head of Kojima Productions was looking forward to getting out on the show floor.
When asked about the genesis of the series, Kojima explained that games 25 years ago were more often than not about attacking things and that he wanted to do something different. He remains...

Spotted earlier today on Ndtv, master secret keeper Hideo Kojima confirms what many of you hoped and (mostly likely) predicted would happen. Yes, Metal Gear Solid 5 is a thing that is happening.
We can probably expect another Big Boss/ Naked Snake story as Mgs 4 wrapped up (for the most part) the story with Solid Snake. The folks over at Eurogamer and Escapist Magazine speculate that it might be a sort of call back to The Boss and her Cobra Unit during the Normandy invasion and operating covertly during WWII. Personally, I want more details on the enigmatic Patriots and how they're involved on the global scale. I would also like to see what weird concepts and game features Kojima and team could dream up if we see a Wii U release. In any case, we can definitely expect the tactical stealth action littered with plenty of cutscenes.

Mr. Kojima smiles for the camera!
Hideo! Hideo!? Hideeeeoooooooooooooo!
You're legally required to yell this whenever you see Hideo Kojima at any kind of event. Fanboy squeals aside, the Father of Metal Gear along with the brilliant brush work artist, Yoji Shinkawa visited Uniqlo in NYC to show off a collection of new T-shirts for the 25th anniversary of Metal Gear, and we were there to catch a few pics (and hopefully not pass out in awe)!
As we talked about earlier, the two flagship Uniqlo stores hosted two short signing sessions with the famed creator and artist, Friday and Saturday. As should be expected, a bunch of Metal Gear enthusiasts quickly lined up and flooded the store with everything from copies of Mgs to Z.O.E to original PS3 consoles! In addition to meeting their favorite game director and designer, a couple lucky attendees were entered into a...

The second issue of the Max Payne miniseries hits next week while Darksiders II has a digital comic on the way from Dark Horse, and Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots gets a novel from the late sci-fi author Keikaku (Project) Itoh.
The book will also include an essay by Hideo Kojima, who was a friend of Itoh. Released as part of the Metal Gear 25th anniversary festivities, the novel brings the story of Guns of the Patriots to the page in what sounds like a direct novelization of the game's script.
Here's the synopsis:
Metal Gear Solid: Guns Of The Patriots delivers the latest bullet-ridden adventures of Solid Snake, a crack soldier who is part of a worldwide nanotechnology network known as the Sons of the Patriots. Time is running out for Snake though, as he will soon succumb to the Foxdie virus, but not before...

Is Gabriel Belmont's nemesis... the son of Dracula?
Plus screens and concept art from the in-development sequel after the jump.
According to the official site, Dracula (or as we now know from the Mirror of Fate synopsis, Gabriel Belmont) is tired of his immortal existence but must still face some new threat from the Belmont family and the Brotherhood of Light. Why he won't just let them kill him remains to be seen, but Lords of Shadow 2 will apparently be the conclusion of this particular series, as Gabriel attempts to power himself back up to defeat his new enemies.
So who's the guy with white hair? Well, Trevor Belmont is Gabriel's nemesis in Mirror of Fate (both are playable characters in the 3Ds game), but Symphony of the Night protagonist Alucard is half-vampire, so it can't be Trevor with a new name, can it?

For all you fans who have pre-ordered the Metal Gear Solid HD collection, you may want to change that soon. Konami announced today that the Metal Gear Solid HD collection will have a Limited Edition version that will include:
Standard game Specialized packaging created by series lead artist, Yoji Shinkawa 248-page “The Art of Metal Gear Solid” artbook
Metal Gear Solid HD will include HD upgrades of Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater and Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker. There was no price given for the Limited Edition version, but I don’t expect it to be more than 10 to 20 dollars Us, because this is a budget title in the first place. I will admit I have never played a Metal Gear Solid game but this HD collection may entice me to do it. How many of you would recommend the Metal Gear Solid series?...
