Jamie Reid, the artist and graphic designer whose work for the Sex Pistols defined the punk aesthetic, has died at 76.
His gallerist, John Marchant, confirmed his death. In a statement, he was described as an “artist, iconoclast, anarchist, punk, hippie, rebel and romantic. Jamie leaves behind a beloved daughter Rowan, a granddaughter Rose, and an enormous legacy.”
Reid met future Sex Pistols manager Malcolm McLaren at Croydon Art School. That relationship blossomed into a collaboration on artwork for the Sex Pistols.
Reid’s best known work was for the Sex Pistols covers including the pink and yellow text of their only album, “Never Mind the Bollocks, Here’s the Sex Pistols,” and “God Save the Queen,” the hit single banned by the BBC. The latter featured a Cecil Beaton photo portrait of Queen Elizabeth II defaced by Reid.

Jamie Reid, the artist responsible for the Sex Pistols’ album and singles artwork, has died at the age of 76.
Reid’s passing was first reported by Louder Than War. As of publication, a cause of death has not been disclosed.
Reid was behind the iconic artwork for the Sex Pistols’ debut album Never Mind the Bollocks Here’s the Sex Pistols, as well as the 7-inch picture sleeves for “God Save the Queen,” “Pretty Vacant,” and more. His cut-and-paste collage style would become emblematic of the punk-rock movement and remains synonymous with the aesthetics of the genre.
While Reid is best known for his classic Sex Pistols designs, he used his collage style for other projects — often political — including recent pieces targeting Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump.
Some of Reid’s colleagues took to social media to pay tribute to the late visual artist, such as British writer Jon Savage,...

London, Jan 9 (Ians) Manchester City beat Chelsea for the second time in less than a week to ensure their place in the fourth round of the Fa Cup.
The result was never in doubt after three goals in 15 minutes in the first half left Chelsea groggy and Pep Guardiola’s team flying, reports Xinhua news agency.
Riyad Mahrez, who had scored the only goal in the two sides’ midweek match, netted the first goal with a thumping free kick. Julian Alvarez scored from the penalty spot after a handball by Kai Havertz seven minutes later, and Phil Foden added a third from close range after good work from Kyle Walker.
Mahrez scored his second of the match late in the second half to increase the pressure on Chelsea coach Graham Potter.
Aston Villa were stunned by two late goals from fourth-tier side Stevenage Borough.
Morgan Sanson put Aston Villa ahead in the 33rd minute,...

Kevin McKidd may live in the sun-soaked city of Los Angeles now, but he's still bursting with Scottish pride.
The "Grey's Anatomy" actor, and Scotland-native, not only stars in Disney Pixar upcoming Scottish epic "Brave," but also recently released The Speyside Sessions, a collection of traditional Scottish songs that he refers to as a "love letter to Scotland."
Recorded over the course of one week, McKidd, together with diverse cast of players and vocalists, recorded over two dozen traditional Scottish folk songs. The entire "community record," as McKidd describes it, was recorded in a house in the Scottish Highlands. All profits from The Speyside Sessions will go to the charity, Save The Children.
In an interview with HuffPost Entertainment, McKidd talked about the recording process -- in which his experience on "Grey's Anatomy" came in useful -- that awkward moment when his "mum" chastised him (and all of his friends) for being slobs,...

A number of Diana Vickers fans have urged her record label to radically change the cover of her upcoming debut album. The first publicised sleeve for Songs From The Tainted Cherry Tree featured Vickers in an oversize bow dress with a purple splattered-paint banner and her name in Jamie Reid-style newspaper typeface. After initial complaints, the cover was tweaked to alter the colour of the banner to cherry red, but fans on her official site have continued to complain about the lack of album name and use of the previously published photograph. Raffles47 said: "The cover is simply awful - it desperately needs to be changed (more)...
