Stephanie Beatriz is opening up about a recent reunion she had with the Brooklyn Nine-Nine cast which they used to remember their late co-star André Braugher.
The actor died in December 2023 at the age of 61 following a brief illness. Beatriz and her former co-stars, such as Andy Samberg, Terry Crews, Melissa Fumero, and Chelsea Peretti, saw each other in March to remember Braugher.
“[It was] a chance for all of us to get together and make each other laugh,” Beatriz told People about the reunion. “And it was also a chance to talk about André. It came up immediately, and then we put it away for a while.”
She continued, “But at the end of the dinner, by the end, we were all just sharing stories about him and our memories of him. And he lives in our hearts forever and ever.”

The entertainment industry hasn’t always been quite as diverse and open-minded as it is today. From racial discrimination to disparity based on sexuality, as confessed by actors themselves, Hollywood has been a mess for a long time. Take, for example, when late actor Kevin Conroy revealed losing roles because of his homosexuality, before landing Batman: The Animated Series in 1992.

After facing years of discrimination, Kevin Conroy eventually shared the experiences of being a gay actor in Hollywood. Perhaps his grieving words opened the eyes of millions and became an inspiration for change. Thus, years after Conroy’s work as Batman in the Dcau, bisexual actress Stephanie Beatriz could work with ease as Batwoman in Catwoman: Hunted.

The love story between Yuki and Itsuomi unfolding in A Sign of Affection was one of the sweetest and most delightful stories to follow in the past winter season. During last night's airing of Brazilian broadcast channel Rede TV's program Leitura Dinâmica , a special segment was featured highlighting the Brazilian dubbing team's work on the anime. In the series, Yuki is a deaf woman navigating the challenges of college life, and when it came to choosing the person to voice the character, Brazilian dubbing director Luísa Horta explained that Dubrasil studio wanted to cast someone who shared similar experiences to portray the character. And this is how they found the brilliant Beatriz Oliveira , who is an oral deaf actress, and as we can see, she was the perfect choice for the role. This was her very first role in the voice acting industry! Yuki's voice actress, Beatriz Oliveira , highlights the...

Vertical has acquired U.S. rights to “Bucky F*cking Dent,” a father-son story set against the 1978 Red Sox vs. Yankees pennant race.
The movie was written, directed by and stars David Duchovny. It also happens to be based on Duchovny’s 2016 best-selling novel of the same name. The cast of “Bucky F*cking Dent” includes Logan Marshall-Green (“Spider-Man: Homecoming”), Stephanie Beatriz (“Brooklyn Nine-Nine”), Jason Beghe (“Chicago P.D.”), Evan Handler (“Californication”) with Daphne Rubin-Vega (“In the Heights”) and Pamela Adlon (“King of Staten Island”). The film is produced by Yale Productions’ Jordan Yale Levine and Jordan Beckerman, as well as Duchovny.
“Bucky F*cking Dent” had its world premiere at the 2023 Tribeca Film Festival. The release date is slated for later this year.

Sex is a lot like filmmaking. You dive in when you’re ready, trust your companions, and learn from experience. Few people start out as experts, but there’s beauty in being allowed to try and fail in different environments over the years.
In her first feature film lead, comedian and former late night host Lilly Singh plays Maya, a computer engineer who takes a part-time job teaching sex education. After an incident in her teens led to her mother moving them back to India, Maya not only repressed her sexuality but grew to actively fear it — and now she’s teaching teens about sex despite having never done it herself. Singh, Neel Patel, and director Sara Zandieh co-wrote the film, which premiered at SXSW on March 12.
Sonia Dhillon Tully plays Maya’s hyperconservative single mother Veena, a role that has unfortunately been tread and retread in the South Asian-American film ouevre.

Anonymous Content and Spain’s Morena Films, behind box office breakouts “Cell 211” and Champions, have named former Studiocanal executive Beatriz Campos as the managing director of their Spain-based film-tv production venture Anonymous Content España.
Campos will oversee the company’s day-to-day operations working closely with David Davoli, Anonymous Content’s president of international, and Morena Films CEO Pilar Benito, Anonymous Content and Morena Films announced Monday. Launched in May 2023, Anonymous Content España aims to develop and produce premium Spanish projects for a global market.
That is easily said, but several factors work in its favor and will be aided now by Campos’ appointment. As film and TV producers still battle a hugely competitive market and spiralling production costs, companies are reaching out for partners beyond national markets, a structure embodied in Anonymous Content España. Anonymous can also help Morena access U.S.-stars, which may allow their productions to stand out in the crowd.

[This story contains mild spoilers for season one of Hazbin Hotel.]
“On paper, there’s a lot of people that might say no to something like this — a very raunchy animated musical comedy world written by a young woman,” Hazbin Hotel star Stephanie Beatriz tells The Hollywood Reporter. But for the Brooklyn Nine-Nine and Encanto actress, showrunner Vivienne Medrano’s “weird, cool, fantastical imagination” has produced a series that is not only “delightfully horny, unhinged and ridiculous,” but uniquely special beyond its “small minutiae of cock jokes.
“It somehow manages to have this throughline of true gay love and this very big idea about whether it’s possible to redeem a soul, to change after being damned for all time,” she says of A24’s first foray into animation and Prime Video’s latest push into the medium’s R-rated adult space. “I just love Vivienne’s world-building.”
Broadway star and lead voice actress Erika Henningsen offers similar praise.

Since “Encanto” made its theatrical and streaming debut in 2021, fans have been wondering whether Disney would give the film the sequel treatment – and its star Stephanie Beatriz has expressed her openness to the possibility should the opportunity arise.
“I would love to work with them again. That team on that film was so incredible to work with that. I think a lot of [Jared Bush and Byron Howard’s] time right now is being taken up by other stuff,” she told TheWrap during an interview conducted before the SAG-AFTRA strike about her new Peacock series “Twisted Metal.” “I know Jared and I think Bryon too are working on the second ‘Zootopia’ right now. But I would love to work with them again.”
She noted that she is a “huge” Disney fan.
“I go to the parks a lot and whenever people recognize me they ask about that too.

For actress Stephanie Beatriz, originating a new character for Peacock’s live-action adaptation of the PlayStation video game “Twisted Metal” — one who doesn’t utter a word in the series premiere — presented a unique and irresistible challenge.
“I love original storytelling,” she told TheWrap. “I think that’s what drew me to these scripts because my character is not even in the games. It’s a fully new character, fully new backstory, fully new world.
“The world opens up more and more every episode,” she added. “It’s in a way limitless.”
Beatriz plays Quiet, a badass axe-wielding car thief that acts purely on instinct. She comes from a community that oppressed her into silence and goes on to form an unlikely, antagonistic bond with John Doe (Anthony Mackie) as she becomes clouded by her need for revenge.

[This interview was conducted prior to the SAG-AFTRA strike authorization.] [Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for all of Twisted Metal Season 1.] Peacock‘s new action comedy Twisted Metal features a Brooklyn Nine-Nine reunion, with Jason Mantzoukas appearing in an episode which stars Stephanie Beatriz. In Episode 8, John Doe’s (Anthony Mackie) car is stolen, leading to him and Quiet (Beatriz) encountering Preacher (Mantzoukas) and his group of Holy Men. Preacher is, to put it mildly, an unhinged character. “My God, that was so amazing. As soon as I read that character, I thought, who would be perfect for this? Jason,” Beatriz told TV Insider. “That character is unhinged in the best way. Peacock’s bold, bloody adaptation of the PlayStation vehicular combat classic, Twisted Metal, struggles to balance camp with car carnage.
“What do you say, John? Will you drive?”
There’s been a recent run of exceptional video game adaptations between The Last of Us, Castlevania, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, and The Super Mario Bros and Sonic the Hedgehog movies. There’s no longer the same stigma that once accompanied video game series and movies. Streaming services are now taking major swings on video game IPs whether it’s Netflix’s The Witcher, Amazon’s upcoming Tomb Raider series, or Peacock’s Twisted Metal. It wasn’t long ago when a Twisted Metal TV series would have been a ludicrous venture, but it’s now as good an idea as any. Twisted Metal has a dark, absurdist world that’s had decades to develop. There’s easily a strong enough foundation for a weird and memorable limited series.

Anthony Mackie was eager to enter the demolition derby-style world of “Twisted Metal.”
The Marvel actor — who stars as John Doe, an amnesiac driver transporting goods across a war-torn nation — told TheWrap that he and his team were looking for a “different type of energy” than his previous projects when he signed onto the PlayStation video game adaptation for Peacock.
“It was actually about me just being able to show a different side of myself. This business can bog you down and you lose that lighthearted side of yourself if that’s what you’re pigeonholed into,” he explained. “So my team and I would look for something that was more comedic, something that I could just run around and have fun with.”
Mackie said he played plenty of PlayStation while growing up in New Orleans. One of his first video games was “Twisted Metal.

With its rave reviews, three-month window of cultural supremacy and 24 Emmy nominations, HBO’s The Last of Us gave all subsequent game-to-screen translations an exhilarating new freedom. It’s no longer necessary for an adaptation to bear the weight of an entire genre’s credibility. “Greatness” has been achieved and it’s now fully acceptable for a video game adaptation to simply be “decent.”
Huzzah!
Peacock’s new series based on the venerable and versatile Twisted Metal franchise is — and I mean this generally as a compliment — quite decent. Both as colorful and as deep as a shimmering oil slick on a sweltering stretch of abandoned blacktop, Twisted Metal lacks the budget and ingenuity to consistently live up to the game’s sense of unrelenting mayhem. But its limitations make room for a solid character-based story to develop around stars Anthony Mackie and Stephanie Beatriz.

Ryan Lacen’s feature debut, All The World Is Sleeping, is able to put together a stage that proves to be rather inadequate for the hefty story it tells. It’s indeed a righteous goal to want to chronicle the experiences, which were more candidly harrowing ordeals than anything else, of seven real women fighting off the demon of opioid addiction with all their might. Nonetheless, the necessary grit a story of real demons calls for gets blunted by the spurious charm and shimmer Lacen paints his protagonist and everything about her with. Surrounding the gratuitous glamor of the central mouthpiece are, however, jarringly lifelike anecdotes from practically indistinguishable women who bring their distinct encounters to life and add a disturbing authenticity to the narrative.

After getting off to a shaky start, David Duchovny’s second directorial feature Bucky F*cking Dent delivers some hard truths and profound wisdom against the backdrop of a 1978 Red Sox-Yankees American League East pennant game. Adapted from Duchovny’s book of the same name, his follow-up to 2004’s House of D finds Teddy (Logan Marshall-Green), an aspiring novelist and Yankees peanut vendor, returning home to visit his estranged, dying father Marty (Duchovny). His work is rejected by a literacy agent who encourages him to commit a crime, go to prison, and write about it––otherwise he’s just another uninteresting voice in changing times. Fresh from a divorce, the shaggy-haired Teddy is going through an awkward phase, stuck in a profound rut. His dad comments that despite being 33 his son looks both younger and older than he is.
After initial bantering as old baggage resurfaces, Teddy agrees to stay...

The Wta doubles final at the 2023 Madrid Open didn't end well and the tournament organizers know it.
After the doubles final in which Victoria Azarenka and Beatriz Haddad Maia defeated Coco Gauff and Jessica Pegula to claim the Wta 1000 title in the Spanish capital, none of the players were allowed to speak after the match, causing a major controversy.
It came after a series of comments from players amid many bad decisions that the tournament organizers made this year. One of the complaints from players discussed the tournament's scheduling, while others weren't happy with the birthday cake difference between Aryna Sabalenka and Carlos Alcaraz.
Once players left Madrid and arrived in Rome, they were soon asked about the whole situation at the press conferences, as Pegula slammed them, wondering what century were they living in, while Gauff suggested that they should be able to take criticism.
Both players revealed that...

Robyn Brown, ‘Sister Wives’ | TLC A timeline on Robyn’s nannys and babysitters
Before Robyn even married Kody in 2010, Christine Brown’s daughter, Mykelti Padron, came to live with Robyn as a free live-in babysitter for her three children. If Kody and Robyn began courting in 2009, Mykelti would have been around 13 years old.
Robyn’s children were still young enough to need a nanny. Dayton Brown would have been 10 years old. Aurora Brown would have been around eight years old,...

Brooklyn Nine Nine‘s departing Chelsea Peretti is going out in a blaze of, well, Gina. “I can tease that Gina departs in a very Gina Linetti-esque way,” showrunner Dan Goor tells TVLine, adding that the character’s Season 6 swan song will be “funny but also… emotional. [Chelsea] is really one of the funniest people in the world and a great actress and I think all of that comes out in her exit.”
Last month, Peretti announced that she would be jumping ship shortly after the former Fox sitcom docks at NBC on Thursday, Jan. 10. At the time, Goor conceded that...
