- Johanna Warren makes art like her life depends on it. As a musician, she has written and produced six critically-acclaimed solo albums, toured with the likes of Mitski and Iron & Wine, and been dubbed by Rolling Stone "A singer-songwriter you need to know." It was largely through conceptualizing and directing many of her own music videos that she discovered a passion for filmmaking. The video for her song "Twisted" (Carpark Records, 2020), which she co-directed, won Best Music Video at the Portland Film Festival.
As an actor, Warren has voiced a character on Netflix's "The Midnight Gospel" and played the lead in indie queer psycho-thriller "She the Creator," the directorial debut from visionary filmmaker Ettie Wahl.
Warren has recently composed music for a new musical theatre adaptation of Euripides' ancient tragedy "The Bacchae," in which she plays the double lead as both King Pentheus and his mother Agave. A preview of the production premiered via Harvard University's Center for Hellenic Studies in 2021 and further developed in a workshop at The University of Bristol in 2023.
Also an avid herbalist and witch, Warren resides in rural Wales and spends her free time foraging and fermenting wild plants.- IMDb Mini Biography By: Brandon Telg
