Pretty Little Liars star Lucy Hale just revealed in Cosmopolitan's latest issue that she's struggled with an eating disorder before. A difficult topic to speak about to say the least, coming forward about her past definitely should be an inspiration to many other girls and guys out there.
"I've never really talked about this, but I would go days without eating," she says. "Or maybe I'd have some fruit and then go to the gym for three hours. I knew I had a problem...It was a gradual process but I changed myself." The actress doesn't go into detail about it, but one can't help but think Hollywood's push on a certain image could have had something to do with it.
Here's 10 other female celebrities that have admitted to having an eating disorder:
1. Paula Abdul
On June 19, 1995, the once American Idol judge's story was featured on the front cover of People.

Teen actresses Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen are going their separate ways - the twins have now decided to live apart. Pals of the 18-year-old beauties tell America's Star magazine Mary-Kate will move out of their New York City apartment and into a spacious loft of her own. A source says, "Mary-Kate and Ashley want to do the independent thing and live on their own. They're twins, and I think they just want to find their own identities. They don't want to be identified as the same person." While the twins' representative Michael Pagnotta has declined to comment on the stars' living arrangements, he insists there isn't a rift between the pair. He explains, "They do a lot of things together and a lot of things individually. They're good friends; all this rift stuff is nonsense." One pal says Mary-Kate will be moving away from the TriBeCa home she shares with Ashley because she wants a place better suited to her favored pastime of painting. Despite her plans to move, sources say they're likely to be living together again once construction on their $7.3 million apartment in the West Village's Morton Square is completed later this year.

Teen millionairesses Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen demanded retail giant Wal-mart provide female factory workers in Bangladesh with maternity leave and benefits in New York Thursday. The Full House stars, 18, were horrified to discover the workers creating their Olsen Twins clothing line, which is sold in Wal-Mart stores, were working in poor conditions. Just hours after a protest by members of America's National Labor Committee (NLC) began at Washington Square Park near New York University, where the sisters are studying, Mary-Kate and Ashley signed the petition for Wal-Mart to give workers the "legal right to maternity leave with benefits". Their spokesman, Michael Pagnotta says, "Both organizations are talking and we hope it will come to a positive result. We certainly take the issue of fair treatment for workers seriously." A Wal-Mart statement regarding general sweat-shop allegations reads, "We feel that our program is helping to improve working conditions and create economic opportunity for workers around the world."...

Actress Mary-Kate Olsen has ended speculation over her education, after leaving Los Angeles to return to New York University. Last week, Mary-Kate returned to Southern California for a few days, and her representative Michael Pagnotta was immediately prompted to shoot down reports that she was leaving school to re-enter treatment for her eating disorder. But she has now returned to the Big Apple, where she and her twin sister Ashley are studying. Pagnotta says, "(Mary-Kate) is back in town. She'll be back (in school). Ashley is here, too." The teen stars marked Mary-Kate's return with a trip to one of her favorite spots, Next Door Nobu, for a late Sunday dinner with friends.

Mary-Kate Olsen is reportedly on the verge of dropping out of university, just weeks after starting life as a student. The teenage actress/entrepreneur has been spending time in Los Angeles, 2,642 miles from New York University and the Manhattan apartment she shares with her sister Ashley, according to newspaper the New York Daily News. A source tells columnist Lloyd Grove, "She's moved back to LA, and might be staying indefinitely. She may not go back to school. Ashley says she's not sure if Mary-Kate wants to come back. They talk on the phone all the time." A representative for the family admits Mary-Kate - who only recently checked out of hospital, where she was treated for an eating disorder - has been in Los Angeles, but insists she will return to college. Michael Pagnotta says, "She's been in LA for a few days and she's coming back in a few days. I think she'll be there for about a week. She's there on personal business. She had some things she wanted to take care of."...

Teen actress Mary-Kate Olsen's battle with anorexia has inspired a controversial new line of 'Save Mary-Kate' T-shirts. The unlikely fashion items have been launched by fledging design company Randy And Moss, whose owners say they will give 20 per cent of profits from sales of the tops to America's National Eating Disorders Association (NEDA). Randy and Moss co-founder Melissa Moss says, "One night we were working on designs and reading magazines that featured Mary-Kate's eating disorder." She and partner Randy Bol, both 25, came up with a design and had the T-shirts ready within a week. They're now being sold on the duo's website Savemarykate.Blogspot.Com, whose rallying motto is, "Together we can do this. One T-shirt at a time." Bol sketched the picture of Mary-Kate, twin sister of Ashley Olsen, complete with protruding ribs and a disproportionately large head - an image some fans have branded "grotesque". Moss counters, "Anorexia is not a beautiful thing." And while the shirts have been selling well, Olsen's representative Michael Pagnotta and NEDA are far from thrilled. Pagnotta says, "I'm not sure what Mary-Kate needs saving from." He is quick to point out that the shirts are not endorsed by Olsen and suggests that the twins' company, Dualstar, may look into a possible copyright- infringement claim. Moss says if Neda declines to accept the donations, she and Bol will find another charity.

American tabloids are backing off their claim that Mary-Kate Olsen checked into a Utah clinic for a cocaine addiction - instead of an eating disorder as widely reported. Star magazine has been cooperating with the Olsen camp and will run a more flattering picture of the superstar this week - despite claiming last month that she was been treating at Cirque Lodge for illegal substance abuse. Olsen spokesman Michael Pagnotta says, "We felt it was in Mary-Kate's interest to have as good a picture as we could provide. Our lawyers came into agreement with their lawyers." The publication's accompanying story does not mention cocaine according to gossip site Pagesix.Com and concentrates on Mary-Kate's treatment for anorexia. However publishers American Media Inc. (AMI) spokesperson Stu Zakim claims the weeklies are standing by their coke claims, but "it was old news. She was always being treated for anorexia and cocaine." Pagnotta refutes the cocaine reports, and says, "The cocaine stories were false, and it was pointed out internally. We made the best of what was not an easy situation."...

Teen superstar Mary-Kate Olsen is poised to leave the treatment facility she has been staying in for the past few weeks to return home to her family. The New York Minute star - who alongside twin sister Ashley Olsen has forged a multi-million dollar career - is suffering from eating disorder anorexia but is "doing well" after intensive medical care. Her publicist Michael Pagnotta says, "Her fans can expect her to return home soon. She's doing well." After returning to the family home this weekend, Mary-Kate and Ashley will prepare to begin college at New York University this autumn.

Teen star Mary-Kate Olsen is furious two magazines have refused to retract claims she is being treated in rehab for cocaine addiction not anorexia. American tabloids Star and the National Enquirer published front page stories about Mary-Kate's reported drug problem this week, with photographs apparently showing the 18-year-old checking into Utah's Cirque Lodge clinic. Representatives for Olsen and her company Dualstar have threatened legal action - but American Media, who own both magazines, remain unmoved. Spokesman Stu Zakim says, "If they were going to sue us, they would have done it already. Nothing has come forward and that only reinforces the validity of our reporting. We knew how explosive this story would be, and it's been fact-checked and fact-checked and fact-checked. We have all the confidence in the world that our reporting is on the money." Olsen's representative Michael Pagnotta argues, "If (the Enquirer) is the same kind of reporting as in the Star, which we consider to be false, then it would likewise be evaluated by our attorneys. The bottom line is that Mary-Kate was not admitted for drugs, period."...
