Founding Foreigner guitarist Mick Jones has revealed that he has been battling Parkinson’s disease for the past several years. The legendary rocker disclosed his health status in an open letter to fans.
Jones is the lone original member still left in Foreigner, who are among the nominees for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame this year. In recent years, he’s rarely performed with the band, and has now disclosed that it’s his struggle with Parkinson’s disease that has kept him off the stage.
On Foreigner’s social media pages, Jones wrote the following:
“Fans will have become very aware that for some time now, I have not been performing onstage with the band. Several years ago, I was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. I want everyone to know that I am doing alright. However, I’ve always liked to be at my best when performing onstage,...

Scott Stapp has announced his fourth solo album, Higher Power, arriving March 15th via Napalm Records.
The Creed singer also shared the new single “What I Deserve,” which follows up the previously released title track. The new song features guitarist Yiannis Papadopoulos, and touts emotional high and lows, drifting from brooding balladry to heavy, big-chord choruses. The tune comes with a shred solo from Papadopoulos, along with lyrics that ponder the intricacies of a relationship.
“We all want back what we give,” Stapp commented in a press release. “‘What I Deserve’ is about two people understanding who they are individually and coming to a place where they can express exactly what they each want, need, and deserve. The duality in the song is that both sides are expressing the same thing and coming to an understanding of the faults of the other.”
He added, “This song pleads both guilty and...

Other than having American Idol in common, the musical pairing of Steven Tyler and Carrie Underwood is just as odd as when Tyler and Run Dmc hooked up, but like the latter collaboration, the rock icon and country sweetheart’s song is a hit. The tune, “Can’t Stop Loving You” is off of Aerosmith’s 15th studio album,” Music From Another Dimension!”, which dropped in November via Columbia Records. Produced by Marti Frederiksen and Tyler, the duet is the latest single off of the album to be released to radio. Tyler and Underwood crossed paths at the 46th Annual Academy of Country Awards in 2011 and later, in 2012 for a Cmt [ Read More ]

Aerosmith will get back in the saddle again this summer with a new tour and the band’s first new studio album since 2004’s “Honkin’ on Bobo.” At a press conference held Wednesday at The Grove shopping center in Los Angeles, Steven Tyler, Joe Perry, Joey Kramer and Tom Hamilton (Brad Whitford is on tour with Experience Hendrix) revealed the new album will come out in a few months. The still-untitled project is co-produced by Jack Douglas, who produced such legendary albums as 1975’s “Toys in the Attic,” and 1976’s “Rocks; Tyler, and Marti Frederiksen. If Douglas is responsible for the band’s...

David Cook has claimed that his new song, has an Aerosmith vibe to it.
The 28 year old singer – who rose to fame after winning the seventh season of the reality television show American Idol – has said that “Take Me As I Am” from his new album ‘This Loud Morning’s', reminds him of Aerosmith’s ‘Dont’ Wanna Miss A Thing’.
Speaking in a video posted on his official website, Cook said:
“This is a lofty comparison, so I realize I might be shooting myself in the foot here but to me it kind of has an Aerosmith-Don’t Want to Miss a Thing kind of feeling to it…..especially in the bridge and going down to the G chord.”
“That song is going to be fun live”
The comparison isn’t so shocking when you consider the fact that the track’s co-writer Marti Frederiksen has worked with Aerosmith...

Now that James Durbin is off "American Idol," he's going to face one of the biggest decisions of his life. While he has vowed to bring back heavy metal with his debut album, a producer who knows a thing or two about taking a rock artist from fourth place on "Idol" to superstardom counseled the singer to step back a bit and really think about what kind of career he wants before getting in the studio and cranking up the double kick drums and speed-metal guitars.
"I think it's a tricky moment for James where he might not want to hear what people have to say to him, but I'd be very clear and tell him there...

Tyler's video for "(It) Feels So Good" will premiere on "American Idol" this week. The song is off of Tyler's brand new, first solo album in the U.S. Longtime frontman to Aerosmith, Tyler has ventured out to create his own album. He co-wrote the single with Marti Frederiksen.

Tyler has also been working on an autobiography. "Does the Noise in My Head Bother You?: A Rock 'n' Roll Memoir" was recently published by Ecco/HarperCollins.

Steven Tyler has made it clear all along that he intends to make "American Idol" work for him. Though his Aerosmith bandmates questioned his decision to appear on TV's #1 reality show, Tyler has been savvy about his unlikely gig, making sure to place the band's music in multiple episodes, which has helped their catalog creep back onto the Billboard charts while keeping their name in the press.
Now, seeing how the "Idol" bully pulpit has helped fellow newbie judge Jennifer Lopez reboot her musical career thanks to the show's debut of her video for "On the Floor", Tyler is prepping his own turn in the spotlight.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, the 63-year-old Rock and Roll Hall of Famer will premiere the video for his debut solo single,...

I have a wish-list of obscure songs from the movies about a mile long. But, I can be pretty determined so I usually track them down sooner or later (although sometimes that's easier said than done). Luckily for me, it was only a matter of waiting for a deluxe edition of Cameron Crowe's rock romance, Almost Famous to finally own Love Thing from the fictional band, Stillwater. Crowe's 2000 film was based on his own experiences as a young rock journalist traveling with bands like The Allman Brothers, Led Zeppelin, The Eagles, and Lynyrd Skynyrd (with Stillwater acting as a composite stand-in), and is easily one of the best films ever made about rock and roll.
Famous' soundtrack is packed to the brim with classics from the golden age of rock, and Crowe successfully blends Stillwater's music in with some of the finest artists in history. The few songs that...

If you're in Los Angeles, swing by Nikki Sixx's house to wish him a happy birthday, as the Mötley Crüe bassist turns 51 years old today. Of all the self-destructive rock stars who emerged from the '80s hair metal scene (and there were no shortage of casualties), Sixx's survival is nothing short of miraculous. While most of his bandmates in the Crüe were content to drink too much Jack Daniel's and crash expensive cars, Sixx spent most of his quality time experimenting with heroin. According to his excellent book The Heroin Diaries, Sixx believes he overdosed at least six times in his life, with one of those incidences coming on December 23, 1987, when he was legally dead for two minutes before paramedics revived him with a pair of adrenaline shots directly to his heart (this incident is memorialized in the Crüe hit "Kickstart My Heart").
But Sixx is sober now,...
