If there’s one thing we’ve learned, it’s that Mamie Johnson (Veronica Redd) is nothing if not formidable. Her recent antics at Chancellor-Winters have proven she’s ready to shake things up irrespective of the consequences. The latest turmoil kicked off when Mamie made a bold move by showing up unexpectedly, which directly led to a family clash. Determined to “fix familial splinters,” she called for a meeting sans Billy, raising more than a few eyebrows. As accusations flew, Mamie’s volatile temperament became evident as she stormed out, leaving behind a trail of hurt feelings. Her desire to oust Jill from her

Auckland, July 19 (Ians) Uncapped players batting all-rounder Dean Foxcroft and leg-spinner Adi Ashok on Wednesday earned their maiden New Zealand call-ups while pace all-rounder Kyle Jamieson made his comeback to the side for next month’s T20 tours of the UAE and England.
New Zealand are scheduled to play three T20Is against the UAE on August 17, 19 and 20, followed by four games in England from August 30 to September 5.
Jamieson is set to return to international cricket more than a year after sustaining a serious back injury in England last June. On the other hand, Foxcroft and Ashok earned their call-ups off the back of representing New Zealand A and impressive domestic form in the recent season.
Foxcroft, born in South Africa, moved to New Zealand in 2016 and is a newly qualified player for the side, having recently received eligibility approval from the Icc under its “exceptional circumstances” criteria.

The girlfriend of singer Darius Campbell Danesh has revealed more sad details about the sudden death of the British singer in August 2022.
Lauren Cheek told the UK’s Sun newspaper that her late partner was suffering from a heart condition that was unknown until his autopsy was conducted.
She told the paper: “So many things could have taken him, but this [heart condition] did, and he died in his sleep.
“His mum told me they only found out [about the undiagnosed condition] after they did the autopsy. His heart was twice the size it was supposed to be, which was fitting, because that is genuinely how he was — he had so much love.”
In addition, Campbell Danesh was suffering from a longterm broken neck following a car accident that had left him in agonising pain. In 2010, Campbell Danesh was a passenger in a Porsche when it hit a wall at 70 mph after skidding on oil during a holiday in Spain.

Auckland, June 8 (Ians) Fast-bowler Adam Milne has been offered a New Zealand Cricket (Nzc) central contract for the first time in five years.
Milne’s elevation to the list comes off the back of his most productive international season, in which he appeared 16 times for the Black Caps (11 T20Is and five ODIs) claiming 24 wickets at an average of 24, including a career-best 5-26 in the second T20I against Sri Lanka, the third best T20I figures by a New Zealander.
The 31-year-old, who made his international debut in 2010, was part of the Black Caps’ past two Icc T20 World Cup campaigns.
Coach Gary Stead said Milne’s offer of a central contract was well-deserved and reflected his strong and ongoing commitment to play international cricket for New Zealand, the New Zealand Cricket said in a report on its website on Thursday.

New Delhi, May 18 (Ians) Former New Zealand cricketer Ross Taylor said if it was up to him, he would have brought veteran opener Martin Guptill in the top four of the Odi side ahead of this year’s World Cup, citing the experience he would bring to the team for the mega event.
Guptill, widely considered as one of New Zealand’s best-ever white-ball openers, last played in an Odi for the Blackcaps in September 2022. Later, he was released from his Nzc central contract after being dropped from the white-ball series against India last year not getting to play a single game in the Men’s T20 World Cup in Australia.
Since then, he has been busy playing various T20 leagues like the Big Bash League (Bbl) in Australia. Guptill’s tally currently stands at 7346 runs at an average of 41.73 in 198 ODIs, with a highest individual score of 237 not out.

The celebrities, joining forces with leading UK animal charities Animal Aid, Compassion in World Farming, Four Paws UK, Humane Society International/UK, PETA UK and the Rspca, lament a lack of progress on addressing issues such as ending live animal exports, exploring action on the import and sale of fur products and banning keeping primates as pets. New Delhi, May 10 (Ians) Pakistan’s left-handed opener Imam-ul-Haq and New Zealand’s right-arm fast bowler Matt Henry on Wednesday have moved up in the Icc Men’s Odi Player Rankings after putting in notable performances in the recently-concluded five-match series which the hosts’ won 4-1.
Ul-Haq has advanced one slot to fourth position in the batters’ rankings after playing a match-winning knock of 90 in the third Odi. He is still some way away from his career-best ranking of second position, which he achieved in June last year.
The left-hander’s rise is good news for Pakistan as they now have three batters in the top four, with skipper Babar Azam number one in the list and fellow left-handed opener Fakhar Zaman at third place, with South Africa’s Rassie van der Dussen sandwiched in between the Pakistan trio at second place.

Karachi, May 4 (Ians) Debutant allrounder Cole McConchie made a bold unbeaten 64 and Tom Blundell (65) top-scored but their efforts went in vain as a series of errors consigned New Zealand to a 26-run defeat in the third Odi, giving hosts Pakistan an unbeatable 3-0 lead in the five-match Odi series.
Chasing Pakistan’s 287/6. build on superb fifties by opener Imam-ul-Haq (90) and skipper Babar Azam (54) at the National Stadium here, the Black Caps were dismissed for 261 in the last over and suffered their third successive defeat in the series.
After skipper Tom Latham won the toss and elected to field first, Tom Blundell, in his first appearance of the series, top-scored but was one of two unnecessary run-out victims as the tourists made a mess of their run chase.
The opener/wicketkeeper cruised to 65 from 78 balls before taking on the arm of Mohammad Wasim when attempting a second run and falling short.

Thirty years ago when Robin Thicke was 16, he recorded his first album with R&b star Brian McKnight. But the music wasn’t epic.
“[The label] was willing to put it out, but there wasn’t going to be a lot of promotion money behind it, so I said, ‘Let’s shelve it,’” he recalls.
While still recording his own music, he went on to develop his musicality by writing and producing for others, including Michael Jackson, Usher, Christina Aguilera, Pink, Jordan Knight, Brandy, Raven-Symoné, 98 Degrees, Marc Anthony, Mya, Color Me Badd, Guy Sebastian, Brownstone, Will Young, Kevon Edmonds, Ron Keating, Chante Moore and others.

Hamilton, March 31 (Ians) Sri Lanka have failed to snatch the eight spot in the Icc Men’s Cricket World Cup Super League table after losing to New Zealand in the third Odi here.
Sri Lanka captain Dasun Shanaka opted to bat first in the crucial encounter. But the Sri Lankan batters failed to fire yet again, struggling against the pace and bounce of the New Zealand bowlers.
Matt Henry (3/14), Henry Shipley (3/32) and Daryl Mitchell (3/32) were all outstanding with the ball, as Sri Lanka huffed and puffed to cross the 150-run mark.
For Sri Lanka, Pathum Nissanka (57 off 64), Dasun Shanaka (31 off 36) and Chamika Karunaratne (24 off 42) were the only batters to show any form of resistance. The visitors were bowled out for 157 in 41.3 overs, with their bowlers now facing a herculean task of getting their side over the line.

Auckland, March 26 (Ians) Left-handed wicketkeeper-batter Tom Latham will return to T20I action for the first time since 2021 to lead New Zealand in their upcoming series against Sri Lanka at home and then facing Pakistan in away conditions.
Latham will captain both squads which feature potential debutants in Chad Bowes and Henry Shipley, along with several players returning to T20I on the back of strong international and domestic form, with regular New Zealand players set to feature in the Indian Premier League (Ipl).

At the height of his fame, George Michael had two options – both bad. If the pop superstar had told the world he was gay in the 1980s, his screaming, adoring, grabby female fans might have been afraid to touch him. Misinformation about Aids had begun to seep into society. Coming out, though, would have at least meant that he was free. If the Wham! singer hid his sexuality, he’d be the subject of relentless rumour and press intrusion and, when it finally became impossible to conceal it any longer, he’d be faced with accusations of hypocrisy for living a double life, for decades, in the public eye. The path he took, in the end, was the latter, but it all imploded in 1998 when he was arrested in a Los Angeles public toilet for “lewd conduct” (he was cruising for sex with men). That incident, and the media frenzy that ensued,...

Wellington, Feb 25 (Ians) Veteran pacer James Anderson (3-37) and left-arm spinner Jack Leach (3-45) shared six wickets as England reduced hosts New Zealand to 138/7 in their first innings in the second Test on Saturday.

The 2023 Brit awards have come to a conclusion – albeit a slightly uneventful one.
Britain’s biggest night in music saw a number of repeat winners, with Isle of Wight duo Wet Leg and Harry Styles taking home multiple awards.
The awards ceremony was held on Saturday 11 February.
The event kicked off at London’s O2 arena with a star-studded red carpet. Celebrities including Styles, Sam Smith, Salma Hayek, Lewis Capaldi, and Ellie Goulding struck a pose.
Smith, in particular, turned heads in their shiny black inflatable latex jumpsuit. You can see the boldest looks from the Brits here.
Comedian Mo Gilligan returned to host for a second time. The Masked Singer judge and Netflix star took over hosting duties from long-time presenter Jack Whitehall in 2022.
Unfortunately, Gilligan seemed to run into some technical issues with his autocue, when he appeared to introduce Wet Leg as “One Leg” and Lewis Capaldi...

The Masked Singer is back, with fans tuning in every Saturday night to try to guess which celebrity is behind each costume.
Comedian Joel Dommett has returned to host proceedings, with 13 mystery stars singing familiar songs on stage, while dressed up in an outfit obscuring their identity.
Guessing along with the in-studio audience and the viewers at home are the judges: Mo Gilligan, Davina McCall, Rita Ora and Jonathan Ross.
One way to help narrow things down is checking out who’s been on the series before – as it seems unlikely they’d return to the show (although not impossible).
So here’s a full list of who appeared on seasons one, two, three and four…

Winner: Nicola Roberts – Queen Bee
Jason Manford – Hedgehog
Katherine Jenkins – Octopus
CeeLo Green – Monster
Denise van Outen – Fox
Jake Shears – Unicorn

Sam Mendes has discussed the topic of gender-neutral awards, saying he thinks it is “inevitable” that the Oscars will go in that direction.
During a new interview with the BBC’s Laura Kuenssberg, the Empire of Light director was asked about Emma Corrin’s call to eliminate gender from awards shows.
“I have total sympathy with it, yeah, and I think it might well be inevitable in the end,” he said. “I think that’s the way it’s moving and I think that it’s perfectly reasonable.”
He added: “For me, people forget with awards, I think this happens all the time, they use it as a bellwether for the industry but the truth is awards are a TV show. You know, awards are there to promote films.
“If that film wins an award, I’m more likely to go and see it and that’s what you’re doing there.

The Welsh national anthem has become a talking point around the world since Wales’s team began competing in their first World Cup since 1958.
Wales’s stirring anthem is called “Hen Wlad Fy Nhadau”, which translates to “Old Land of My Fathers” in English.
When the Welsh team, headed up by captain Gareth Bale, and 3,000 Welsh supporters belted out the anthem at the country’s opening match against USA on Monday 21 November, it gave goosebumps to footballs fans around the globe.
Singer-songwriter Billy Bragg tweeted at the time: “Well Wales have won the national anthem singing contest. Their players looked proud to belt out their anthem while the US team looked faintly embarrassed to be singing in public.”
This year marks the first time the anthem has been sung at the tournament. The last time Wales were at a World Cup, they sang “God Save the Queen”.

Joe Lycett has fact-checked Keir Starmer after the Labour leader mentioned his money-shredding stunt in Prime Minister’s Questions on Wednesday (23 November).
A week before the 2022 World Cup kicked off in Qatar, comedian Lycett had threatened to shred £10,000 of his own cash if David Beckham didn’t walk away from a deal to be an ambassador for Qatar during the tournament, rumoured to be worth around £10m.
Homosexuality is illegal in the country and anyone found participating in same-sex sexual activity can be punished with up to seven years in prison. Lycett warned Beckham that he would not only shred the money but also the sportsman’s reputation as an LGBTQ+ ally.

David Baddiel brought out an agenda-shifting new documentary called Jews Don’t Count on Monday night (21 November), and it’s kept people talking ever since.
In the show, which aired on Channel 4, the author and comedian argues that antisemitism isn’t considered to be as unacceptable as other forms of discrimination, even among those who are vocal in their support of other minority groups.
Stars including David Schwimmer, Stephen Fry, Sarah Silverman and Miriam Margolyes talk to Baddiel on camera about their experiences of antisemitism in the documentary, which is a follow-up to Baddiel’s 2021 book of the same title.
Many have been praising the programme on Twitter, with actor Eddie Marsan writing: “#jewsdontcount the original book by @Baddiel was absolutely fascinating and the @Channel4 documentary tonight was just as enlightening. Heartbreaking to see my old mate @andynyman sharing the difficulty he’s faced but his last exchange with David was hilarious.
In the show, which aired on Channel 4, the author and comedian argues that antisemitism isn’t considered to be as unacceptable as other forms of discrimination, even among those who are vocal in their support of other minority groups.

BTS member Jin is set to begin his mandatory military service on 13 December this year.
South Korean newspaper Aju Business Daily confirmed the news on Thursday (24 November), citing unnamed military authorities.
Jin, who turns 30 years old on 4 December, will be deployed to a unit after receiving five weeks of training at the boot camp, the paper reported.
Spokespeople for BTS’s agency, Hybe, and the South Korean ministry of defense declined to confirm the report.
In a social media post last week, Jin hinted he was headed to a “front-line” position.
Last month, BTS’s management company Big Hit Music announced that all BTS members will serve their mandatory military duties under South Korean law in the next few years.
The company added that the band’s oldest member, Jin, will revoke his request to delay his conscription at the end of the month and undertake the required conscription steps.

Will Young has fiercely condemned David Beckham over the former footballer becoming a paid ambassador for Qatar during the World Cup.
The singer, 43, urged Beckham to donate to LGBTQ+ charities and called his reported £10m deal “odious”.
The 2022 tournament kicked off on Sunday (20 November) in Qatar, where homosexuality is illegal and anyone found participating in same-sex sexual activity can be punished with up to seven years in prison.
Posting on Instagram, Young wrote: “Qatar is of course not the only country in the world with appalling records on human rights. The argument that sport is not political is duplicitous and two-faced.
“What is undoubtedly clear however is a star like you @davidbeckham who I once sang for (not for any money I hasten to add) at your birthday has disappointed me more than I can say.
“Our paths crossed a fair few times due to being with 19 Management and you were always friendly and generous.

Tim Minchin has opened up about a song on his most recent album that is, as he put it, about wanting to “f*** someone”.
The musician and comedian’s third debut album, Ready for This? (2009), includes the song “If I Didn’t Have You”, in which the Australian singer croons about his decade-long marriage to his wife Sarah: “Our love is one in a million.”
Then, on his latest 2020 album, Apart Together, he describes the struggles of monogamy and resisting the urge to have sex with “one of those others I swore to forsake” in a song titled “I’ll Take Lonely Tonight”.
“I got some interesting feedback from women when that came out,” Minchin told iNews, in a new interview published on Wednesday 23 November.
“Some sobbed because it was so beautiful. Other women said, ‘So you didn’t f*** someone. What do you want? A medal?’”

Scottish singer and West End star Darius Campbell Danesh died from respiratory arrest caused by inhalation of chloroethone, a US medical examiner has confirmed.
The former Pop Idol contestant’s death has been ruled an accident by the Southern Minnesota Regional Medical Examiner’s Office, after Campbell Danesh was found in his Rochester apartment last month.
His family revealed the singer had been suffering from chronic neck pain following a car accident in 2010, a trauma he had previously talked about in interviews.
In 2010, Campbell Danesh was a passenger in a Porsche when it hit a wall at 70mph after skidding on oil during a Spanish holiday in Spain.
He was treated with daily physiotherapy but rejected an operation recommended by doctors because he was concerned that it would damage his vocal cords.
Campbell Danesh was found unresponsive in his Rochester apartment on August 11, according to a statement from his family.
