For starters we’ll finally get to see “Genius: Aretha,” although no official date his been announced. The third season of the anthology series, which previously explored the lives and careers of scientist Albert Einstein and painter Pablo Picasso, stars Emmy, Tony and Grammy winner Cynthia Erivo as legendary soul singer Aretha Franklin. It was originally supposed to premiere this spring but was pushed forward due to the coronavirus pandemic. Nat Geo now plans for it to drop this fall.
The cable net is also teaming with “American Idol” mentor and “Dancing with the Stars” champ Bobby Bones...

Dog Whisperer star Cesar Milan again is answering the call of Nat Geo Wild with a new series as the cable net revealed its 2020-21 upfront slate today. It also has ordered new seasons of docuseries The Incredible Dr. Pol and Heartland Docs, Dvm and a spinoff from Secrets of the Zoo.
Nat Geo Wild also is bringing back several other series in the next year, setting new seasons of Secrets of the Zoo, Dog: Impossible, Critter Fixers and Dr. Oakley, Yukon Vet. Its slate also includes a number of specials and stunt programming. Read details about all of the shows below.

Happy Earth Day, Earth. National Geographic Channel has big plans for the 50th anniversary of the first Earth Day, including some new monkey business from Jane Goodall.
On April 22, Nat Geo and Nat Geo Wild will simulcast two primetime specials in an effort to raise awareness about climate change. The celebration will kick off with an hour-long live broadcast of “Born Wild: Earth Day Live,” which airs at 8/7c on both channels, TheWrap has learned exclusively. It will be followed immediately by the two-hour documentary special, “Jane Goodall: The Hope,” at 9/8c, which will air on both of those channels as well as on National Geographic Mundo.
