Lady Gaga is one of pop’s most prolific artists, and she’s released plenty of incredible studio albums across her decade-plus long career.

Here’s how their ranking system works: “Creating our proprietary Metascores is a complicated process. We carefully curate a large group of the world’s most respected critics, assign scores to their reviews, and apply a weighted average to summarize the range of their opinions. The result is a single number that captures the essence of critical opinion in one Metascore.”

Liza Anne’s Utopian is a riotously fun assertion of self-worth. One of the album’s most vibrant tracks, “Treat Me,” pairs feminist lyrics with constantly shifting instrumentation, from tactile wood blocks and shakers to dreamy electric guitar and synths. Born Elizabeth Anne Odachowski, the nonbinary singer-songwriter spends much of the song in a didactic mode, alluding to the dangers faced by women and queer people in public spaces: “If you feel like I’m talking to you, then listen/Don’t treat me like that.”
Indeed, many of the songs on Utopian serve as teachable moments for Odachowski, who offers a series of personal and political lessons throughout, some more revelatory than others. On the album’s title track, the artist proposes remaining friends with an ex, singing, “We don’t have to shine a bad light/Just because it’s changing.” Odachowski’s optimism matches the track’s bright,...

Everyone’s talking about Amazon’s new revenge thriller series, Wilderness. Adapted from the bestselling novel of the same name by B.E. Jones, and starring Jenna Coleman, Oliver Jackson-Cohen, Ashley Benson, and Eric Balfour, Wilderness landed on the streamer just in time for the rainy season and made a splash thanks to its complex heroin and dark subject matter.
Wilderness follows Liv Taylor (Coleman) as she tries to cope with finding out that her dashing husband Will (Jackson-Cohen) is cheating on her. After marrying Will and choosing to leave her old life in England behind so that they can move to America to advance Will’s career, Liv then snaps when their dream life together falls apart.
Having been raised by a toxic, narcissistic mother, and therefore having entered adulthood as a people-pleaser, Liv cannot bear that she simply wasn’t enough for the one person she was finally able to feel vulnerable with,...

Festival season is officially back in full effect this summer, after disappearing in 2020 and making a sometimes tentative return in 2021. That joyful reality couldn’t have been clearer as Governors Ball returned to New York’s Citi Field for three days of music, headlined by Halsey, Kid Cudi, J. Cole — three of today’s top acts, taking victory laps in front of one of music’s most energized audiences. A wide range of newer artists seized their chance to make a big impression, too. When at Gov Ball, do as the superstars do.

There have been countless series created by grown adults about teenagers over the years, but has there ever been one created by a teenager and her dad? Daniel and Zelda Barnz, the father-daughter showrunners of HBO Max’s “Generation”, represent what must be a first for dramatic programming but their frank, probing look at the lives of a group of LGBTQ+ teens and allies definitely gets plenty of help from other departments to create its sun-bathed Orange County backdrop.
Among them are music supervisors Maggie Phillips and Andrew Brady, who have the near-Herculean task of creating the tuneful soundscape for its vastly different characters. “They reached out to us because they really liked our work on [the Hulu series] “Normal People” and Daniel was our point person [on the music] because that’s his passion and we were always geeking out at how it’s all at every kid’s fingertips these days unlike...

Based on the DC comic book by Jeff Lemire, “Sweet Tooth” will globally premiere on Netflix on June 4.
The eight-episode series takes place years after “The Great Crumble” changed everything. A hybrid deer-boy befriends a wandering loner and together they embark on an extraordinary adventure through the dangerous, but lush world left behind in order to find the meaning of home.
“We wanted to make a show that offers escape and adventure, where nature is reclaiming the world and in many ways it feels like a fairytale,” writer, executive producer and director Jim Mickle said. “‘Sweet Tooth’ is a new kind of dystopian story, it’s very lush and hopeful. We want people to come into this world where there’s beauty and hope and adventure. This is a sweeping story — we ride on trains, climb mountaintops, run through forests. This is a show about what makes a family, what home really means,...

Morgan Wallen’s Dangerous: The Double Album spent a second week at Number One on the Rolling Stone Top 200 Albums chart. With more than 42,000 song downloads and over 160 million streams, the country star’s set dwarfed the competition — by way of comparison, the Number Two album, Pop Smoke’s Shoot for the Stars Aim for the Moon, pulled down 58.8 million streams. Wallen’s repeat at Number One marked the first time in the history of the Rs 200 that a country album has led the ranking two weeks in a row.

The part of TikTok that serves as a launching pad for hit singles often seems like an endless stream of dance challenges — kinetic sequences of moves, heavy on martial arm movements, that can be packed into a 15-second clip shot on a stationary phone camera. Users like the dances — the Renegade, the “Say So” routine, the Number One Baby dance — while artists and labels like the streams that the dances earn their singles. Megan Thee Stallion benefitted from the Savage challenge; Ciara from the Get Up challenge; Blanco Brown from the Git Up challenge.

"It's a party in the U.S.A." Miley Cyrus took to TikTok earlier this week to share a video of herself rocking out to Ashnikko's "Stupid" with her main man Cody Simpson. From lip-synching the lyrics to choreographing a few moves, the dynamic duo put on quite a show. The 26-year-old singer wore a black lacy bra and matching shorts for the video while the 22-year-old Australian artist donned a black T-shirt and pants. Simpson and Cyrus sparked romance rumors earlier this month. The news came less than two weeks after fans learned she had ended her relationship with Kaitlynn Carter. It also came less than two months after Liam Hemsworth filed for divorce from Cyrus. Cyrus and...
