The Berlin Film Festival today announced eight titles that have been added to its Berlinale Special program. The new crop of films includes Golda, starring Helen Mirren, Camille Cottin, and Liev Schreiber.
Directed by Guy Nattiv from a screenplay by Nicholas Martin, the pic follows the intensely dramatic and high-stakes responsibilities and decisions that Golda Meir, former Israeli prime minister, faced during the 1973 Yom Kippur War. Mirren stars as Meir. Jane Hooks and Michael Kuhn are producers on the pic. Embankment is handling sales.
Other titles added to the program include Netflix’s Kill Boksoon. Jeon Do-Yeon, who won the best actress award at Cannes in 2007 for Secret Sunshine, stars in the pic, which follows a single mother and renowned hired killer who struggles to find a balance between her personal and work life.

A special section ‘Focus: North East’ will celebrate films from the North-Eastern part of India at the upcoming International Film Festival of India (Iffi). A total of 18 films will be showcased under this section. Besides six other films from the region will be screened under different sections like Musical Films, Indian Panorama and Homage.
The section will be inaugurated with the screening of Khawnlung Run by Mapuia Chawngthu. Khawnlung Run will be the first Mizo film to screen at any international film festival. Actors Seema Biswas and Adil Husaain will be present at the inauguration. The section will close with Arup Manna’s Aideu.
‘Focus: North East’ has been curated by National Award-winning film critic Utpal Borpujari and will feature films from the states of Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Assam and Tripura. The 44th edition of Iffi will be held from November 20 -30, 2013 in Goa.

The three-day 2nd Guwahati International Short Film Festival (Gisff) concluded with an award ceremony where national-award winning filmmaker Onir gave away the awards along with other Jury members.
The Golden Rhinos for Best Film & Best Director went to Painful Bliss and Deepjyoti Handique.
The Silver Rhino for Best Editing went to Nipan Talukdar and Rakesh Gogoi for The Line Between You & Me Is Blink. Bhaskar Dutta bagged the Best Screenplay award for Painful Bliss.
The Bronze Rhino for Best Cinematography went to Nagen Baishya for Anutapta from Regional Government Film & Television Institute, Guwahati.
In the Non-Competitive section, Spirit Audience Award (voted by Audience) went to Ek Tha Main by Paras Chakrabarti from Whistling Woods and Cockroach by Luke Eve from Australia.
