Born and raised in Quito, Ecuador, AJ learned the importance of community and family. Since the age of 12, she has called British Columbia her home, and they are grateful for the opportunities it offers to nurture their creative ambitions. AJ's journey into the world of filmmaking began with the Bachelor of Motion Picture Arts program at Capilano University, where they explored various aspects of the film industry. Their interests and skills span casting, assistant directing, colour correction, set dressing, photography, and, of course, writing and directing. AJ is committed to creating authentic art, drawing from her lifelong fascination with fine arts, creative writing, and storytelling. From analyzing Pixar films to crafting whimsical stories in elementary school, that intense passion for filmmaking has been evident since childhood.
Choosing to attend Capilano University was a natural decision for AJ, and now in their fourth year, they have discovered a deep passion for multiple facets of filmmaking. As a Latin American immigrant in Canada, AJ is dedicated to crafting stories that reflect authenticity and prioritize representation, whether in storytelling themes or through the beauty of casting. Their goal is to write comedic stories rooted in reality, exploring genres from comedic dramas to sitcoms and even musicals.
AJ firmly believes that every genre has the potential for a beautiful, heartfelt story, and she eagerly anticipates working on a variety of narratives in the future.
