Alex Flores Bertini (born April 26, 2001) is an Uruguayan independent Film Director and Producer. He is mainly known for having directed the documentary Sun City (2019).
Flores was born in Florida, Uruguay, the son of Gabriela Bertini and César Flores. He is the older brother of two sisters, his sisters are named Lara and Irina. In 2013, Flores' parents divorced. His family is of Spanish and Italian descent.
From an early age he showed interest in film and music, using his parents' film camera to practice shots and a VHS camera to record videos. Over the years his interest in art increased along with the desire to create and transmit through it, that's when Flores begins his film career entering the Audiovisual Baccalaureate provided by the public education in Uruguay through the "Universidad del Trabajo del Uruguay" in 2018.
In 2019 he directs his first academic documentary with a theme based on the foundation of the city of Piriápolis and its relationship with Alchemy. It was titled Sun City (2019) and a few weeks after finishing post-production he was invited to exhibit the work at the "Piria Castle" for the event in honor of the 172nd anniversary of the birth of Francisco Piria, founder of the city.
In 2020 it received its first Official Selection at "The Lift-Off Sessions" Festival and a few months later at 5 other independent film festivals around the world and a nomination for Best Documentary Short Film at the Student Film Festival, "FENACIES" in Uruguay.
