Natalia Kills has described Simon Cowell as a harsher talent judge than herself.
The singer, who came under fire for calling an X Factor New Zealand contestant's performance "disgusting" and "absolutely artistically atrocious", defended her controversial comments - which she claimed were "light".
Kills, who was removed from the show's judging panel along with her husband Willy Moon, told The New Zealand Herald that it had been hard "knowing the truth about what really went on, and not being able to say anything in [her] defence".
She said: "I've been a fan of The X Factor and Simon Cowell my whole life, and what we said is light compared to what Gordon Ramsay, Simon Cowell and many others have said on national television and been celebrated for.
"It's so sad how [TV3] encourage so much drama but then when their sponsor and the public react badly they release a statement branding us as 'bullies'.

Britain's Got Talent is back on Saturday - yep, tomorrow! - and to celebrate, ITV obviously held a swanky party at a swanky hotel, which we were lucky enough to pop along to.
David Walliams and Ant & Dec were elsewhere (as you may have heard), but Simon Cowell, Alesha Dixon and Amanda Holden took to the stage to answer questions - and things got a bit weird. Read on for 10 bizarre moments that happened during the Q&A...
1. Amanda's reply when a reporter asked what kind of ratings the judges were hoping for this year.
"Well, s**t ones," she replied, dripping with incredible sarcasm. The room burst into laughter as Simon added: "We want to do really badly. We'll make this show until no-one watches." (On a more serious note, he added: "No, hopefully we'll do better than last year. It's done well over the years so we'll wait and see.

Since I started compiling Outrage Watch -- HitFix's "(almost) daily rundown of all the thing folks are peeved about in entertainment" -- I've never been faced with a shortage of things to write about. There's a lot of anger out there! At times so much that it can feel overwhelming. Other times, I just have to laugh at the sheer inanity of the things people manage to work themselves up over. Of the stories I highlight, I would say a good 75 percent represent examples of righteous outrage -- i.e. scorn directed at legitimate targets. And the other 25? The phrase "pick your battles" comes to mind here, and indeed, sometimes it seems the level of anger is blown out of all proportion to the target in question. As we look back on the winter of 2015, below you can find my roundup of 13 of the wackiest, most overblown controversies of the year so far.

Cast your minds back to 2002 - a time when Pop Idols didn't need to have The X Factor, Fifty Shades of Grey were just colours on a paint sampler chart and David Beckham was a mere international superstar rather than global megastar.
Bend It Like Beckham, with a modest estimated budget of £3.7 million, opened that same year and became a critical and commercial success - breaking box office records and scoring BAFTA and Golden Globe nominations, as well as making household names of many of its stars.

X Factor New Zealand has named two new judges, and is hoping they won't be quite as razor-tongued as the old ones.
Stepping up to the judges' table are Natalie Bassingthwaighte and Shelton Woolright, Billboard reports.
They will replace the husband-and-wife team of Natalia Kills and Willy Moon, who were unceremoniously fired for absolutely eviscerating a contestant during a live broadcast – for the crime of supposedly looking a bit too much like Moon himself.
Bassingthwaighte, an Australian singer, was once a judge on that country's version of The X Factor. Woolright, a native New Zealander, is a drummer in the band I Am Giant.

First, X Factor Nz judges Natalia Kills and Willy Moon went on "destructive tirades" that earned them their pink slips.

The family of the late singer filed a motion Tuesday night to halt the "manufacturing, reproducing, selling, distributing and licensing" of the controversial Robin Thicke single, stating that Interscope is “undeniably committing contributory copyright infringement with each sale" after last week's verdict that awarded the Gaye family nearly $7.4 million for copyright infringement (they claim the 2013 single plagiarized Gaye's "Got to Give It Up"). The motion further states that the single should not be offered for sale until "proper attribution of Marvin Gaye as a writer of ‘Blurred Lines’ and for the use of ‘Got To Give It Up’ in the infringing work so that the Gayes may...

Though X Factor New Zealand contestant Joe Irvine was straight-up humiliated by British singer Natalia Kills and her husband, singer Willy Moon, during his now much-talked about audition, he's very clearly getting the last laugh.
After Natalia's over-the-top critique that Joe "copied" her husband's look -- calling him "a laughing stock, cheesy and disgusting," while Willy backed her up by calling him "creepy" and comparing him to Psycho killer Norman Bates -- the two were fired from the hit show. And now, a number of musicians have reached out to Joe to show their support for the bullied contestant, who still managed to call Natalia "beautiful" after her beyond-harsh comments during the live show.

On The X-Factor New Zealand (it's everywhere!), two judges, married performers Natalia Kills and Willy Moon, have been accused of bullying a contestant on live TV and were swiftly fired from the show. You can see it all go down — Kills at first appears to be playfully teasing the contestant, which then turns into an all-out attack on his originality. It's actually insane, and you mostly just have to watch it.

After their hateful diatribe against contestant Joe Irvine received worldwide attention, X Factor New Zealand judges Natalia Kills and Willy Moon have been removed from the judges' panel, effective immediately.
"Last night on X Factor both Kills and Moon made comments that were completely unacceptable," said MediaWorks chief executive Mark Weldon in a statement obtained by New Zealand's The Edge. MediaWorks produces the New Zealand spin-off of Simon Cowell's hit franchise.
"While the judges on X Factor are expected to provide critiques of the performances, we will not tolerate such destructive tirades from any of the judges," the statement continued.

Natalia Kills might have killed her career. Mediaworks, the owners of TV3, fired Kills and her Willy Moon from The X Factor New Zealand Monday. The decision was announced less than 24 hours after the judges eviscerated contestant Joe Irvine on live TV. Following Irvine's performance of "Cry Me a River" Saturday, Kills, 28, went for the jugular. "Ladies and gentleman, I'm just going to state the obvious: We have a doppelgänger in our midst. As an artist who respects creative integrity and intellectual property, I am disgusted at how much you have copied my husband. From the hair to the suit, do you not have any value or respect for originality?" she asked. "You're a laughing stock. It's...

The pair had made comments about a contestant that were described as "unacceptable" by a producer of the show.
Kills, who appeared on the singing competition's judging panel alongside her husband, took offence to contestant Joe Irvine's live performance and called it "disgusting" and "absolutely artistically atrocious".
Her rant began: "Ladies and gentlemen, I'm just going to state the obvious - we have a doppelgänger in our midst.

X Factor New Zealand's live shows kicked off with a bang on Sunday night when judge Natalia Kills ... well, went in for the kill.
Following his performance of "Cry Me a River," contestant Joe Irvine received a critique more severe and more undeserving than anything Simon Cowell has ever dished out.
"Ladies and gentleman, I'm just going to state the obvious: We have a doppelgänger in our midst," began Kills, 28, whose real name is Natalia Noemi Cappuccini-Sinclair.

Madonna is really upset about this album leak situation.
Several leaked songs hit the web this week – and by several, we mean a full album's worth -- before Madonna was even able to announce a release date or album title for her next studio effort. The 56-year-old has dismissed the tracks as "unfinished demos stolen long ago," but she's still fighting mad at the perp who released them.
News: Madonna Continues Her Three-Decade Run as the Face of Versace
"This is artistic rape!" she wrote in a since-deleted Instagram post on Wednesday. "These are early leaked demos, half of which won't even make it on my album. The other half have changed and evolved. This is a form of terrorism. Wtf!!!! Why do people want to destroy artistic process??? Why steal? Why not give me the opportunity to finish and give you my very best?"

“Vampire Academy” is the newest young adult adaptation that hopes to take the country by storm this upcoming Valentine’s Day. Directed by Mark Waters (“Mean Girls”) and scripted by Daniel Waters (“Heathers”), the tone of the latest trailer seems to suggest that the movie will at least try to have fun with its dopey premise which will hopefully set it apart from “The Mortal Instruments,” “Beautiful Creatures,” and the upcoming "Divergent.” Nevertheless, no young adult adaptation is complete without an accompanying soundtrack of “dark” and “edgy” pop music and “Vampire Academy” has given us just that. Katy Perry, Iggy Azalea, Goldfrapp, Sky Ferreira and Natalia Kills are just a few of the artists that will be included in the compilation. The Scottish synthpop band Chvrches will also be on the soundtrack, covering the Bauhaus song “Bela Lugosi’s Dead” which will appear over the end credits. Oddly enough, the...
