However, games take time, skill, and patience, and they're not for everyone. So, if you are interested in some of the plots of video games, but want to sit back and relax while watching them, here are 8 best adaptations that might be a perfect choice.

The fate of the world is once again in Sonic's hands as he must use his super speed to save the newly created multiverse. Although the latest installment of the famous hedgehog's journey didn't impress audiences too much, viewers were much more appreciative, giving the show an 86% approval rating.

Beau DeMayo’s controversial firing some weeks before the premiere of X-Men ’97 was a huge point of discussion among fans. While various rumors have been circulated, the true reason is unknown. DeMayo had continued talking about the show as the episodes drop weekly and many fans are also loving the narrative he had built for the X-Men team.

While future seasons of the show have been greenlit, DeMayo is unlikely to return as showrunner. His recent Marvel firing and his past fiasco with The Witcher series (comments made by one of his co-writers on the show), signal a problematic reputation that Marvel wouldn’t want to associate with further.

Marvel Studio’s X-Men ’97 has been wreaking havoc across the fandom for its incredible storyline, marvellous characters, nostalgic theme, and adrenaline-packed action. While the animated series continues to garner praise, many have been wondering why Beau DeMayo, the series’ showrunner, was allegedly fired by Marvel.

Just a week before X-Men ’97’s release, DeMayo and Marvel apparently parted ways. While that does seem to be as concerning, it becomes more concerning given DeMayo’s history with Henry Cavill’s The Witcher.

Netflix was building up their series The Witcher, which is inspired by a series of novels by Andrzej Sapkowski, to be a major franchise. In addition to the flagship show, they made the anime film The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf and a prequel mini-series called The Witcher: Blood Origin, with another anime movie called The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep and a couple other spin-offs in the works… but now it looks like it’s all winding down. As The Witcher season 4 heads into production with Liam Hemsworth taking over the role of Geralt of Rivia from former star Henry Cavill, Netflix has announced that season 5 will be the end of the show. And while The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep is still expected to be released through the streaming service by the end of 2024, Redanian Intelligence and What’s on Netflix have learned that two other spin-offs, one...

Netflix’s The Witcher has had quite a wretched run so far. The initial excitement of having Andrzej Sapkowski’s epic saga adapted with its biggest fan as a lead star quickly wore off when it turned out not quite keen on following the source material. Three seasons in, Henry Cavill quit The Witcher, and Liam Hemsworth was announced as the new Geralt of Rivia.
Hemsworth hasn’t even played the iconic monster hunter in a single episode yet, but we already know exactly when he’ll hang his two swords like his predecessor did.
The Witcher Receives a Big Update
Yesterday, The Witcher’s team took to the show’s official X (formerly Twitter) account to treat fans to a big update. According to them, Season 4 has finally entered production: it will be Liam Hemsworth’s first outing as the iconic Geralt of Rivia after Henry Cavill’s leave from the show.

Geralt of Rivia’s story has an end date on Netflix.
On Thursday, the streaming service renewed The Witcher for Season 5, but revealed that it would be the last season.
The shocking announcement comes as production is finally getting underway on The Witcher Season 4 following countless setbacks.
“It is with huge pride that we begin shooting our penultimate Season of The Witcher with a stellar cast, including some exciting new additions, led by Liam Hemsworth as Geralt of Rivia,” showrunner Lauren Hissrich shared in a statement.
“We’re thrilled to be able to bring Andrzej Sapkowski’s books to an epic and satisfying conclusion. It wouldn’t be our show if we didn’t push our family of characters to their absolute limit — stay tuned to see how the story ends.”
Saying goodbye to the hit fantasy drama will be tough, but at least we have two seasons that will help soften the blow.

Liam Hemsworth is taking over the role of Geralt as of The Witcher season 4, and while we wait to see how Hemsworth is going to do in the role (and whether or not fans are going to accept someone else playing Geralt), Variety has revealed the names of three more season 4 cast members. They are Sharlto Copley (District 9), James Purefoy (The Following), and Danny Woodburn (Seinfeld). They note that “Copley will play the infamous bounty hunter Leo Bonhart from The Witcher novels. Double standards seem to be the rule rather than the exception in Tinseltown. Case point: Jenna Ortega and Henry Cavill found themselves at the center of attention because of their quest for authenticity in their respective projects. But the reactions to their actions have been wildly divergent.
Popular for her role in the critically acclaimed Netflix series Wednesday, Ortega, 21, was praised as a hero for her attempts to maintain the character’s authenticity. Fans praised her willingness to bring authenticity and depth to the role, as she “started changing lines” into the script during her time on set.

Fans may still be mourning the fact that Henry Cavill shed Geralt of Rivia's long locks and weapons skill, leaving the central character of The Witcher in the hands of Liam Hemsworth for Season 4. When The Witcher season 4 starts streaming on Netflix, our hero Geralt of Rivia is going to have a whole new look. That’s because Henry Cavill is no longer involved, with Liam Hemsworth taking over the role of Geralt. Today, Deadline has revealed that Hemsworth is being joined in the cast of The Witcher season 4 by Laurence Fishburne (The Matrix and the John Wick franchise), who will be playing a character named Regis.
If you’re like me and don’t have any familiarity with the Witcher franchise outside of the Netflix show, chances are that the first person you think of when you see the name Regis is Regis Philbin. But, of course, Fishburne’s casting on this show is not going to require any sort of Philbin impression. Instead, the Regis character he’ll be playing is someone who was introduced in Andrzej Sapkowski’s novel Baptism of Fire.

Netflix‘s The Witcher has always had a somewhat contentious relationship with its fans, particularly those familiar with the original books by Polish fantasy writer Andrzej Sapkowski, on which the video game and TV series is based. Over the three seasons, some viewers have criticized the show for straying from the source material, especially in the most recent third season. Many believe this is why the show’s lead star, Henry Cavill, who played Geralt of Rivia, decided to exit the series after Season 4; Liam Hemsworth will take over the role for Season 4. Cavill himself never confirmed his reasons for leaving, but he is a self-confessed super-fan of The Witcher books and video games. In a 2021 interview with Philstar Global, the actor said of his role in The Witcher, “It’s important for me to have the character be three-dimensional.” (Credit: Netflix) “And it’s tricky to do, as I was saying earlier,...

Actor Henry Cavill’s departure from ‘The Witcher’ was a subject of great controversy and disappointment for fans of the series who were particularly taken with his portrayal of Geralt of Rivia. One of the prime reasons why Cavill left was because the studio never took the ideas of author Andrzej Sapkowski who wrote the books.
Sapkowski, speaking at the Vienna Comic-Con last week, was asked if he gave the studio and the series writers any feedback.
Laughing at the question, he replied: “Maybe, I gave them some ideas, but they never listened to me. But it’s normal.”
He then broke into an impression of a Netflix executive and said dismissively, “who’s this? It’s a writer, it’s nobody”, according to ‘The Hollywood Reporter’.

There are plenty of stereotypes about the treatment of writers in Hollywood. “The Witcher” creator Andrzej Sapkowski became all too familiar with them when visiting the set of the Netflix series based on his fantasy novels.
Speaking in an interview with the YouTube channel Cerealkillerz (via Gamespot) at Vienna Comic Con, the Polish author shared that he visited the set of the TV show during production and floated some input for the series. Without specifying what his ideas were, Sapkowski says that none of them ended up being used.

The already massive world of “Cyberpunk 2077” is about to get even bigger. CD Projekt Red, the studio behind the best-selling open-world game, announced on Thursday that it is partnering with Anonymous Content on a live-action project set in the dystopian universe.
At the moment, it’s unknown whether this project will be a series or a movie. The project is currently looking for a screenwriter to tell “a brand-new story,” according to a press release from the company.
Garrett Kemble, David Levine, Ryan Schwartz and Bard Dorros will produce the project on behalf of Anonymous Content alongside Charlie Scully. The project will developed in close collaboration with “Cyberpunk 2077’s” creative team. Anonymous Content’s AC Studios will act as the project’s studio.

This post contains spoilers for "The Witcher" book series.
Ciri is nowhere to be found. At least, that what the princess' parent figures Geralt (Henry Cavill) and Yennefer (Anya Chalotra) thought when fans of "The Witcher" last saw them recovering from the battle of Tor Lara. Season 3 of the popular Netflix series ends with the pair poised to head in different directions on a mission to save Ciri. Sorceress Yen takes on the task of rebuilding Aretuza after her mentor's death, while Geralt (soon to be recast with Liam Hemsworth taking over for Cavill) plans to track down The White Flame (Bart Edwards), Aka Ciri's long lost father.
That's all well and good, but it turns out Ciri (Freya Allan) actually ended up somewhere unexpected. After portalling to the desert and lizard-bashing her way out of there with the help of some creepy ghosts (or hallucinations), she ended up kidnapped by bounty hunters.

There's almost always some kind of fan outcry when the appearance of characters are changed when a work is adapted from one medium to another, and the depictions of the characters in Netflix's "The Witcher" were not immune. The Netflix series is based on the fantasy novels by Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski. The novels have also been adapted into a popular video game series, giving some fans a predetermined idea of what the characters should look or sound like. Fans, especially gamers, can be extremely protective of their version of a particular canon, but it turns out that casting director Sophie Holland planned on pushing a few buttons when she put together the cast of "The Witcher."
In an interview with Variety, Holland explained that she was interested in challenging people's ideas about standards of beauty with her casting decisions, specifically regarding the powerful sorceress Yennefer of Vengerberg, played by Anya Chalotra.

In Projekt CD Red's "The Witcher" video game series, Geralt of Rivia (voiced by the brilliant Doug Cockle) sports a gravelly baritone, and he can be heard musing about the weather or grunting in disdain from time to time. While Geralt's personality is painstakingly fleshed out over the course of three lore-heavy games and three expansion packs, his voice factors majorly into the first-person character immersion. After all, the way Geralt speaks reflects most of his worldviews, where the monster slayer sways between subtle sarcasm and calm distaste, depending on the situation he is in. Geralt is also capable of being gentle, and it is endearing to listen to his conversations with Ciri, or his lighthearted banter with Dandelion, who brings out Geralt's softer side with ease.
Trying to hone in on Geralt's signature voice in a highly-anticipated live-action adaptation of the popular franchise is a tall order. However,...

Spoilers for all three seasons of "The Witcher" abound.
Sometimes, a show is more than its name. Netflix's "The Witcher," an adaptation of the eponymous series of novels by Andrzej Sapkowski, is ostensibly centered around the titular character — Geralt of Rivia (Henry Cavill), the world's mightiest of the specialized, enormously skillful, magically enhanced monster hunters for hire known as Witchers. Yet the series' elaborate plot, taking place on a vast aggregation of magical realms known as the Continent, is not at all limited to Geralt and his exploits. In fact, one of the things that make him interesting and dynamic as a protagonist is precisely the fact that he isn't involved with the Continent's central source of conflict, intrigue, and strife: Magic, and the sorcerers and sorceresses who wield it.
"The Witcher" is just as concerned with politics and the complexities of wartime as it is with magic and its use,...
