Brit film producer Jonathan Sothcott and his London based production house Hereford Films are set to release their first nerve-jangling horror feature Aura this August. The “Blumhouse style” Us-set science horror explores the curious world of Kirlian energy/photography within the context of a supernatural, possession movie. It’s an innovative and frightening looking spin on a classic horror concept, that blends the best of many sub-genres.
“Aura tells the story of Mitch Walker and his wife Diane who inherist his uncle’s house. Inside they discover an old camera designed for Kirlian Photography – the practice of capturing the subject’s ‘Aura’. Mitch’s sister Karen suffered a serious trauma at the house during her childhood after being tied up by their uncle and has been institutionalized ever since. As Mitch pieces the facts together with the help of local clairvoyant, Ada, he realizes that their uncle was in fact...

Over the last year the entertainment industry has suffered incalculable losses of talented people. Some of them hit home personally, as is the case with producer Euan Lloyd, who passed away this weekend in London. I first met Euan in 1978 when I was attending college in New Jersey. I had the enviable gig of being the film critic for the campus newspaper, which afforded me the opportunity to routinely attend press screenings of forthcoming films in New York, which was a stone's throw across the river from my native Jersey City. I had read about the upcoming release of "The Wild Geese" which seemed to promise a "too-good-to-be-true" cast composed of some of my favorite actors (Richard Burton, Roger Moore and Richard Harris above all) in the kind of gritty, macho British war flick that I had become addicted to ever since seeing "Zulu" at age 8. Principal photography has started on UK action-thriller Age Of Kill, from director Neil Jones and writer Simon Cluett.
Jones’ sophomore film stars Martin Kemp (The Krays) as a sniper forced to murder six random people in six hours to save his kidnapped daughter, played by Dani Dyer (Vendetta). He later realises the murders are part of a political coup and attempts to unmask the kidnappers.
The cast also features Phil Davis, April Pearson, Anouska Mond, Nick Moran, Tony Denham, Donna Air and Patrick Bergin.
“We have assembled a fantastic cast to do justice to Simon’s script: a fast-paced page-turner, which feels much more like an American picture than your standard British film,” said Jones.
The film is being produced by indie Richwater Films along with Anchor Bay UK. Jones will produce the film, alongside Luke Fairbrass and Richwater’s Jonathan Sothcott.

“They don’t write them like this any more, they really don’t” says a grinning Ian Ogilvy, sitting back casually in his dressing room on the set of Sacha Bennett’s dark crime thriller We Still Kill the Old Way. The actor, now in his 70s, once starred alongside the likes of Meryl Streep and Bruce Willis in Death Becomes Her, and Christopher Plummer and Orson Welles in Waterloo – yet the talented performer admits that work tends to dry up, in what can be a shrewd and unforgiving business.
“Men and women of my age don’t work that much any more, and in Hollywood, we work even less,” he said. “So I’ve done other things – I’ve been writing books, plays, I teach, I direct – I’ve found alternative ways of making a living. Which was lucky, because the business dries up for you. If you rely on acting at my age,...

I’ve seen at least a dozen Hammer Horror films, both old and new. As far as the classics go, I’d say I’ve seen more of them for the first time thanks to companies like Synapse, that constantly release them to Blu-ray. Such is the case for Countess Dracula. This was a first time viewing for me, so it was good to be able to sit down with Synapse’s new Blu-ray release of the film. The story, you’ll recognize immediately. Old countess, feasts on the blood of young virgins in order to regain her youthful outer appearance. It is a story that has been told to death, but nobody does it quite like Hammer. I recognize the appeal of a film like Countess Dracula, and I did enjoy watching it, but things like these are sometimes films I can only see myself watching once. I’m a patient man,...

★☆☆☆☆Adapted from the novel by Green Street (2005) scribe Dougie Brimson, Top Dog (2014) is the latest offering from Jonathan Sothcott's Richwater Films, who seem intent on burying British independent cinema under a mountain of cockney gangster flicks and inferior horrors. Unfortunately for anyone with even a modicum of taste, there's undoubtedly a certain demographic that will lap up football hooligan dramas, and wouldn't give "a monkey's" if some jumped-up reviewer gives Martin Kemp's Top Dog a critical hiding. Good for them. Ignorance is famously bliss, whilst the rest of us that unfortunately chose the rocky path of knowledge have to suffer the slings and arrows of outrageous filmmaking.

Producer Jonathan Sothcott said: "Having known Dani since she was a kid I have seen her grow into a remarkable young actress. Martin and Gary are back, in Danny Dyer gangster movie Assassin
• Martin and Gary Kemp: 'We complement each other'
The good news: Martin and Gary Kemp are to be reunited on the big screen for the first time since their critically-acclaimed performances in 1991's The Krays. The less good: the former members of 80s new romantic act Spandau Ballet are set to appear in a Danny Dyer gangster movie.
Titled Assassin, the new film has Jk Amalou on board as writer-director. The Kemps will play London gangsters the Albert brothers, with Dyer himself set for the lead as a professional contract killer who discovers his latest target is the estranged father of the woman he loves.
Producer Jonathan Sothcott, whose credits include infamous 2012 low budget turkey Strippers vs Werewolves (which took just £38 in its first week at the UK box office) is working with Dyer on a number of new films.

Martin and Gary Kemp are re-teaming on screen for the first time since they played the title roles as the vicious British siblings in The Krays. The brothers will play sinister gangsters The Alberts brothers in Assassin, starring opposite Football Factory‘s Danny Dyer. I always found it amusing that the Kemp brothers transitioned from the soft pop ballad band Spandau Ballet (best known for “True”) and did such a convincing job portraying the ruthlessly violent and twisted Kray Brothers in that 1991 cult favorite film directed by Peter Medak. “The Krays is one of the best-loved British films of all time, an untouchable classic that only a lunatic would remake, but at the core of that movie are the fantastic performances of Martin and Gary,” said producer Jonathan Sothcott. “Reuniting them for Assassin is a real coup, a dream come true, and I know their army of fans are going...

Hit men getting into trouble by A) retiring, B) entangling their personal lives with their work or C) both is such a cinematic standby, it’s a wonder the Assassin’s Union doesn’t make them all get insurance to cover it. Danny Dyer’s signed on to play just such a troubled killer in Assassin. He’s only ticking one of the boxes in Jk Amalou’s film, which finds him as a professional contract slayer who discovers his latest target is the estranged father of the girl he loves. What a palaver, eh? If only there was a proper agony advice column he could write to for a way out of the situation. Or maybe he could watch Grosse Point Blank for tips."Jk has written a brilliantly slick script and I cannot wait to start work with him, he’s a force of nature of a filmmaker,...

Much like Hummingbird will see Jason Statham take on a role we’re not used to seeing him play, the vigilante action movie Vendetta promises to show a new side to Danny Dyer this year, too.
Anchor Bay have announced that they’ve acquired both the UK and Australian rights from Jonathan Sothcott’s Richwater Films. And with Vendetta expected to hit UK cinemas towards the end of the year, the first trailer has landed online.
Special ops interrogation officer Jimmy Vickers tracks down a gang who slaughtered his parents. With police closing in & his old unit on his trail, he has to to evade capture long enough to complete his gruesome crusade.
Dyer stars alongside Vincent Regan, Bruce Payne, Roxanne McKee, Nick Nevern, Emma Samms, and Ricci Harnett
Stephen Reynolds (The Fall of the Essex Boys) directs from his own script, with Sothcott (Devil’s Playground, Eflie Hopkins) producing.
