"The Walking Dead" wraps up its fourth season on Sunday night, and while we're all waiting to find out what the heck will happen in Terminus — other than people dying, of course — we've decided to dream up just which celebrities we'd want to pair up with. You know, the Glenn to our Maggie. The Bob to our Sasha. The Carl to our giant jar of pudding. Only, you know, a famous jar of ...

When MTV News visited Josh Duhamel in Texas on the set of the upcoming thriller "Lost in the Sun," there was plenty he wanted to share about his latest role ... as a father, that is. In August, Duhamel and his wife, Black Eyed Peas' star Fergie, welcomed their first child — a boy named Axl — into the world. And in the time since, the actor has discovered that parenthood is a lot more ...

The first footage of OutKast's André 3000 as Jimi Hendrix, taken from the upcoming biopic "All Is By My Side," has emerged, just ahead of the film's U.S. premiere at South By Southwest. To prepare for the role of Hendrix, Andre "listened to hours of interviews [and] watched his mannerisms," and in the scene that began making the rounds Wednesday (March 5), that preparation is readily apparent. Three Stacks nails the legendary guitarist's speaking voice, ...

It's the selfie that set a new standard: Thanks to the sheer wattage of its star power, Ellen DeGeneres' in-show Oscar snap — which featured front-row fixtures like Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, Jennifer Lawrence, Meryl Streep, Channing Tatum and roughly half of Jared Leto's face — quickly became the most re-tweeted pic of all time on Sunday night, shattering a record previously held by Barack Obama (sorry Chief). The lead-up to Daft Punk's "Random Access Memories" has proven the robots and Columbia Records to be masters of hype. There were rumors upon rumors, most of which turned out to be true in some weird and twisted way (case in point: Daft Punk was at Coachella, but just to walk around in their civvies and watch the crowd react to a trailer for "Get Lucky").
But building up expectations often comes with plenty of risks. When the album arrives in stores on May 17, it will easily be the most-hyped record of the year. A few critics got an early listen of the project, and though most admit they need to spend more time with the album, here's what they have to say.
Over at MTV, James Montgomery writes that the record "is not a reinvention so much as it is a revolution; their attempt to liberate themselves from dance music entirely.

What an incredible night! On Thursday, I co-hosted my very first Vma pre-show on the red carpet and words can't really express what an amazing experience it was.
After rehearsing for the show for a few hours this morning, it finally really sunk in that it was really all happening when I put on my dress and walked up to take my position.
The preshow kicked off and my first guest who was none other than Vma performer Pink and her husband Carey Hart (The two of them are adorable together and were sneaking kisses and hugging before we went live.) Pink looked stunning in her rocker chic gown and it was the perfect way to kick off the night.

Lana Del Rey and A$AP Rocky in the video for "National Anthem"

Ever since Anthony Mandler wrapped production on Lana Del Rey's "National Anthem" video a month ago, he has spent just about every day trying to avoid talking about it ... mostly because he knew there'd be no shortage of folks doing just that when the clip premiered. After all, the video — which premiered Wednesday (June 27) and features Del Rey in dual Jacqueline Kennedy/Marilyn Monroe roles and A$AP Rocky as John F. Kennedy — was seemingly destined to create conversation, if not controversy. But now that it's finally been unveiled, he's weighing in on the social and political contexts of the clip (from Portugal, via Skype) to MTV News.

It's also the best first-week number any album has posted since Adele's 21 rode a post-Grammy surge to sales of more than 729,000 copies in February.
Bieber's album also sold nearly twice the copies as its closest competition, Kenny Chesney's Welcome to the Fishbowl, which opens at #2 on the chart with an impressive 193,000 copies in its first week of release.

Adam Levine at "MTV First: Maroon 5"

Last month, just as "The Voice" was wrapping its second season, reports began to circulate about a growing feud between judges Christina Aguilera and Adam Levine, one that supposedly involved plenty of behind-the-scenes bitching, more than a few temper tantrums and (quite possibly) one very public use of the c-word.Of course, given that the show was heading toward its finale, one could reasonably assume some of that drama may have been cooked up to draw in viewers, though there were on-air moments where the tension between Aguilera and Levine seemed very real indeed. So, when Levine and his Maroon 5 mate James Valentine sat down with MTV News to premiere their brand-new "One More Night" video, we had to ask him about the feud.

'My wife has been my rock,' Against Me! frontwoman says, but adds her new life 'has completely ended' her relationship with her father.
By James Montgomery
Laura Jane Grace

Last month, Laura Jane Grace very publically came out as transgender in a Rolling Stone feature, bringing to close 31 years of living with a carefully guarded secret and effectively beginning a brand-new life.Of course, things weren't quite as simple as that: Laura's revelation only came after an intense year-long period of self-evaluation and open, often painful honesty. And when she and her Against Me! mates sat down with MTV News for their first on-camera interview since the Rolling Stone story broke, they spoke at length about just how she came out to the band. But that's only part of the story. Because before Laura shared the news with her friends, she had to come out to her family,...

'My decision to leave Ween .... was absolutely not made in haste,' Aaron Freeman tells Rolling Stone.

Last month, much to the consternation of those who worship at the altar of the Boognish, Ween's Aaron Freeman announced — rather matter-of-factly — that he was ending Ween, telling Rolling Stone "It was a good run."That was apparently a surprise to Freeman's longtime musical partner, Mickey "Dean Ween" Melchiondo, who wrote on his Facebook page that the breakup "is news to me, all I can say for now I guess."But now, in a new statement to Rolling Stone, Freeman addressed the split — and Ween's fans — letting it be known that his decision was not a rash one."I want to thank each and every one of you all for your kind words and support. It means a lot. My decision to leave Ween, however interpreted, was absolutely not made in haste,...

As if the prevalence of phrases like "It's F--- Time!" (or the fact that it's three separate albums) weren't already evidence enough, Green Day are letting it be known that their upcoming ¡Uno!, ¡Dos!, ¡Tré! trilogy is going to be a departure from their recent work.In a new interview with Rolling Stone, frontman Billie Joe Armstrong says that Green Day are moving away from the massive sound (and scope) they explored on American Idiot and 21st Century Breakdown in favor of leaner, meaner rock."The last two records were studio albums. Daniel Radcliffe gets boozy in Brit duo Slow Club's new "Beginners" clip. Shia Labeouf goes interpretive (and in the beouf) for Sigur Rós' latest "mystery film experiment." It seems that everywhere you look these days — or at least this week — some big-screen star is popping up in a music video, and the going logic seems to be: the more inexplicable the cameo, the better.Perhaps celebs view these oddball roles as welcome respites from the more, uh, rigorous demands of their day jobs (memorizing lines, standing beneath lights, sleeping in air-conditioned trailers), or hey, maybe they're actually fans of the bands they're helping out. Either way, we're happy to welcome this trend back — after all,...

First things first: Billy Corgan would like it to be known that he does not actually want to piss on Radiohead, despite the interview he gave last week in which he declared, rather matter-of-factly, "I'll piss on Radiohead."Turns out, most things involving Corgan, the Smashing Pumpkins or anything else Corgan's done over the past 25 years (professional wrestling, Scorpions' concept albums, Zwan) cannot adequately be described as "matter of fact." So here, in the same all-in manner in which he approaches most aspects of his life, is his full explanation of that Radiohead quote and the ensuing fallout it caused.

By James Montgomery
Katy Perry in her "Wide Awake" music video
Photo:
Katy Perry closes the book on the Teenage Dream era with her new "Wide Awake" video, a classically creepy (yet slightly candy-colored), Lewis-Carroll indebted fairy tale that doesn't shy away from mixing the fantastical with the autobiographical.Which means it's a treat for both fans and armchair analysts alike. And while you could spend an afternoon sifting through various scenes to understand their deeper significance (minotaur hospital attendants = critics who hated "The Smurfs"?), we figured it would be easier to just highlight a few key moments for you right now.So, for your perusal, here are five important moments form Katy's "Wide Awake" video, each rife with psychological meaning. Or, you know, cool imagery. Same diff.

Laura Jane Grace
Photo:
This is the story of a woman named Laura Jane Grace, who was born in the body of a boy named Tommy Gabel, and spent the next 31 years of her life trying to get out.It starts a long time ago, back when Gabel was 4 or 5 years old and had just watched a televised performance by Madonna. It was the moment Laura first let herself be known, when the boy who spent skinned-kneed summers dressed as a cowboy or Superman realized she was not actually a boy at all. And not surprisingly, given her strict upbringing on military bases across the South (Gabel's father is a retired Army major), she didn't understand how to process this rather pertinent bit of new information.

Perry's fairy-tale clip closes the book on her Teenage Dream story and finds her living happily ever after.

Katy Perry in "Wide Awake"
Photo:
Katy Perry certainly isn't the first artist to get all Lewis Carroll-ian with a video — Tom Petty's iconic "Don't Come Around Here No More" certainly springs to mind — though, in some ways, her brand-new "Wide Awake" clip (which borrows from Carroll's "Through the Looking Glass" book) does manage to cover new territory — namely by transforming the fantasy trope into a bit of an autobiography.
It makes sense. After all, it's not exactly a stretch to call the past two years of her life — which began with the release of her Teenage Dream album in summer 2010 and concludes with her upcoming "Part of Me" 3-D film — surreal. She's one of the biggest pop stars on the planet, gone through a very public divorce,...

Lindsay Lohan leaves the hospital after her car accident on June 8
Photo:
If your week involved smashing a Porsche into an 18-wheeler, being linked in headlines to a porn star, and having the paramedics called to your hotel room, there's a pretty good chance you are probably James Bond. Or Lindsay Lohan.Of course, one of those folks is fictional. The other is very much real — and just had a really crazy week. Yes, the Lind-sanity is still with us, as the actress wrapped an impressive seven-day stretch that began with a car wreck (and hospitalization), rolled right on with some salacious headlines and wrapped with some drama at the Ritz-Carlton (and a rumored hospitalization). Here's a look back at Lindsay Lohan's rather hectic week, one that would give any mere mortal (or secret agent) pause.

San Francisco Giants pitcher, the 22nd man to toss a perfect game, got us thinking about musical perfectos.

The San Fransisco Giants' Matt Cain
Photo:
On Wednesday night, San Francisco Giants pitcher Matt Cain made baseball history — and totally helped my fantasy team — by tossing a perfect game against the Houston Astros. For those who have no idea what that means, Cain faced the minimum of batters — 27 — and didn't allow a single base-runner. That means no walks, no hits, no anything over nine innings (with 14 strikeouts to boot). If that sounds impressive, well, it is: Only 22 pitchers have ever thrown a perfect game in the 143-year history of Major League Baseball, and somewhat surprisingly, the list of those who've accomplished the feat reads less like a who's who of Mlb greats as it does a who's that? For every Hall of Famer (Cy Young, Sandy Koufax, Catfish Hunter) to reach perfection,...

Ush's new clip mixes footage from his recent off-Broadway stint with some seriously sultry dance moves.

Last month in New York, Usher put in work on the set of off-Broadway show "Fuerza Bruta," starring as the show's Running Man and giving fans an impromptu sneak peek at his (then upcoming) Looking 4 Myself album.
But now, with the album in stores and its second proper single, "Scream," at radio, it looks like Ush was using that experience for something else: namely, the inspiration for the "Scream" video, which premiered Tuesday.
The clip is basically one long "Fuerza" performance, only this time, Usher isn't limited to the confines of the stage. Dressed in a natty suit, and backed by beams of light, he makes like his titular character in the production, running through a black expanse that seemingly stretches on forever (of course,...

With a sequel to The Avengers officially confirmed by Marvel/Disney, comic book fans the world over will be contemplating which of the publisher’s other heroes could be added to the line-up, potentially getting their own solo movie as soon as 2014 – filling the popularly acknowledged gap in the schedule alongside Captain America 2 that summer.
Of course, we have to bear in mind that Marvel Studios do not own the film rights to characters as key to their comic book universe as Daredevil, Spider-Man, Wolverine or the Fantastic Four – all of whom have allied with or become members of the Avengers at one time or another – but with that consideration in place, here is another – perhaps final – suggestion for Marvel’s Next Avengers Film:
Captain Britain (Brian Braddock)
Why?: Although 2012 is essentially a giant PR campaign for Britain Plc, and that might not hurt the chances of getting...

Following in the faux footsteps of Tupac, Elvis Presley and (sort of) Freddie Mercury, the estates of other deceased legends like Jim Morrison and Jimi Hendrix are lining up to bring the artists back to the stage ... in hologram form.
In a new interview with Billboard, Doors manager (and Morrison estate-minder) Jeff Jampol said he hopes to create a "multimedia experience" featuring "lasers, lights, high-quality sound, vibrations [and] projected imagery," not to mention the band — and Morrison (who died in 1971) — in 3-D.
"We're trying to get to the point where 3-D characters will walk around," Jampol said, adding that he's been exploring the idea for nearly eight years with British director Jake Nava. "Hopefully, 'Jim Morrison' will be...

The Smashing Pumpkins will return next Tuesday with Oceania, their first proper album in nearly five years, but Pumpkins mastermind Billy Corgan is already making his presence known with a series of eye-opening interviews — including one where he claims to have "killed" the band's backward-looking fans and a new chat in which he takes shots at the music industry and one of its most sacred cows: Radiohead.
In an interview with Antiquiet, Corgan let it be known that he's grown tired of a lot of things, chief among them an industry-wide "pomposity," which values the contributions of newer artists over those that plied their trade in past decades, and then he provides an example of said pomposity to back up his...
