Howdy. How goes it?
Growing up, a huge part of every summer was spent visiting my fam in Ireland. Those weeks were always the coolest - mostly because I spent all my time around horses and family. From it grew my desire for independence, adventure and wanderlust.
When I wasn't in Ireland, I spent several summers at theater camp. But I was ~that kid~ who goofed off. Cut me some slack, I was embarrassed, shy and too self-conscious to take it seriously!! My repressed love for acting turned into constantly talking about the entertainment industry. I geek out over hidden easter eggs and I'm the friend that dominates the TV/Film portion of trivia night.
When I was still in the closet, I turned to TV to vicariously live through gay characters. I grew up Catholic so seeing them be their true selves comforted me and gave me hope for my own future. But at that time, I was bummed that most of the actors playing those roles weren't in the LGBTQ+ community. I felt like I didn't have a role model who understood the impact their character made on me.
Cut to: 2019, where I discovered a new pansexual character on a CW show. The actress who played them would take to Instagram Live to connect with thousands of people and talk all about the show and her character. She was inspiring so many people all while acting as a character she related to.
Then the realization hit me - "Hey! I wanna do that!". I wanted to be the one acting! I wanted to be going live and talking about the show I was on and inspiring others! A week later I was in my first acting class.
The projects that really get me going are lqbtq+, coming of age, fantasy-based stories with a touch of martial arts. Give me all that wrapped into one and I will be one happy camper. I gravitate towards indie films with female characters who are underestimated by society and kick ass to prove them wrong.
Fun fact: I am a huge hat fan. Not baseball hats or snapbacks but wide brim, fur felt fedoras. The kinds of fedoras you see on athletes as they're doing their pre-game walk from the bus to the locker room. Yep those. My future will consist of me making hats in between acting jobs. Win-win for me!
