A new trailer for Sony’s “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse” has web-slinged its way online.
In the animated sequel, Miles Morales (voiced by Shameik Moore) and Gwen Stacy (Hailee Steinfeld) work to save every Spider-Man, Spider-Woman and Spider-Person in the multiverse. Together with a new crew, Miles must stop a mysterious new villain, who happens to be planning a disaster that could disrupt each universe. In the trailer, he is told, “Being a Spider-Man is a sacrifice.”
Alongside Moore and Steinfeld, the cast includes Oscar Isaac as Spider-Man 2099, Jake Johnson as Peter B. Even though the Sony sequel Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse doesn’t come out for another year, the movie has been on a press tour which fired off with 15 minutes being shown at CinemaCon in late April and now another 15 minutes at the Animation festival Annecy this morning.
It was revealed in the room, and later on social that Rushmore star Jason Schwartzman will lend his voice to The Spot, a new villain in both Across the Spider-Verse, which hits theaters on June 2, 2023 and its follow-up, Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse, which opens on March 29, 2024.

Sony dropped the first 15 minutes from its upcoming Marvel animated sequel Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse – Part I today.

Sony Pictures Animation pulled the curtain back on its follow-up to “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse” on Saturday, unveiling the first footage of the upcoming animated sequel. While the team has been hard at work on the project from the outset, they have now officially come aboard, joining returning producers Phil Lord, Chris Miller, Amy Pascal, Avi Arad and Christina Steinberg, and new co-producer Alonzo Ruvalcaba.
“The crew behind… Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse set such a ridiculously high bar, and we’re humbled to take on the challenge of charting the next chapter in the story of Miles Morales,” the directors said in a joint statement. “We can’t wait to surprise fans with the wild new adventure we’re sending Miles on with his friends, both old and new!”

Tippett Studio, the Academy Award-winning visual effects firm founded by Phil Tippett, has confirmed senior management changes. The studio said Friday that Kip Larsen and Carolyn Pistone have joined as executive producer and head of production, respectively. The execs replace Alonzo Ruvalcaba, Tippett's previous head of production, who is leaving after nearly 11 years to produce a film. "It has been a true privilege to work with Phil Tippett and Jules Roman and the brilliant group of artists and production staff at Tippett Studio," Ruvalcaba said.
