When former astronaut John Glenn returned to orbit aboard Space Shuttle Discovery 29 October 1998, Scott was his personal physician and Glenn, at age 77, became the oldest person to travel in space.
Astronaut/doctor Scott has traveled more than 23 million miles in space, flown five missions and conducted seven spacewalks over his 17-year career. He is also the only person to fly in space and reach the summit of Mount Everest.
