Christopher Bryde was born in Anchorage, Alaska.
He served during the Global War on Terrorism in the U.S. Marine Corps as an Infantry Machine Gunner from 2007 until he was retired honourably as a Corporal of Marines in 2012.
His awards include the Purple Heart, Combat Action Ribbon, Navy Unit Commendation, Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal w/ Service Star, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, NATO Medal, and three Certificates of Appreciation, including one from President Obama.
After the military he attended Portland Community College and graduated in 2019 with an Associate degree in Science and an Associate degree of General Studies, with a Focus Award in Creative Writing.
He then moved to England, and was accepted into St. Mary's University Twickenham London, where he completed a BA with First Class Honours in Creative and Professional Writing in 2022 and a MA in Creative Writing: First Novel with Distinction in 2023. Also in 2023, he began working on his PhD at St. Mary's.
