Barbara Rush, who won a Golden Globe for most promising newcomer in “It Came From Outer Space” and went on to appear in “Peyton Place” and many other movies and TV shows, died Sunday. Her daughter, Fox News Channel correspondent Claudia Cowan, confirmed her death to Fox News Digital.
“My wonderful mother passed away peacefully at 5:28 this evening. I was with her this morning and know she was waiting for me to return home safely to transition,” Cowan told Fox. “It’s fitting she chose to leave on Easter as it was one of her favorite holidays and now, of course, Easter will have a deeper significance for me and my family.”

Paul Bloch, the well-known publicist who served as chairman of publicity powerhouse Rogers & Cowan and worked with clients including John Travolta, Michael Keaton and Tom Cruise, died Friday at Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles after a long illness. He was 78.
Bloch was adept at handling P.R. crises, such as Eddie Murphy being stopped for picking up a prostitute, throughout his five-decade career in Hollywood — the entire time at Rogers & Cowan.
The veteran publicist took over managing Cruise’s P.R. after the disastrous couch-jumping episode of 2005. Bloch worked with Cruise for the next five years.
“Paul was not one of the best. He was the best. To say he will be missed is like saying Everest is a mountain,” said longtime publicist Stan Rosenfield.

Imagine meeting a name-dropping, bad-movie-premiere boasting, desperately hustling Hollywood agent from the 1980s. The viral video of the “Warren Klein” answering machine tapes would be the one-sided conversation you’d have with such a creature.
The six-minute slide-show, with audio purporting to be messages left by this agent for clients C. Thomas Howell, Jami Gertz, and Kirk Cameron, are currently cracking up the industry as the Funny or Die clip pinballed around Twitter and Facebook today. “Are you ready for the money?” he says to Cameron, about a role in 1989′s forgettable debate-team St. Elmo’s Fire wannabe Listen to Me.

Cowan died Wednesday night of heart failure and complications from cancer at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.
The New York native began working as a publicist while still at student at UCLA. One of his first clients was actress Linda Darnell.
In 1950, he became a partner with Henry Rogers in the firm Rogers & Cowan, which grew to become the largest public relations agency in Los Angeles. In 1989, Rogers & Cowan led its competition by posting $9.5 million in billings, the Los Angeles Business Journal reported.
Agency clients included such stars as Frank Sinatra, Kirk Douglas, Elizabeth Taylor, Paul Newman, Joanne Woodward, Elton John, Shirley MacLaine, Danny Kaye and Tony Curtis.
"Warren Cowan has been part of my life since I was a very young actress," Woodward said.

Paul Newman's failure to attend a fundraising event for his beloved children's charity over alleged "back problems" has sparked fears for his health.
The 83-year-old was expected to make an appearance at an event to raise funds for his Hole In The Wall Gang Camps - the residential summer camp for seriously ill children he co-founded in 1988 - on Monday.
But The Hustler star failed to attend the event, and instead greeted partygoers through a pre-recorded video message.
Newman has also been forced to cancel a planned appearance on U.S. TV chat show the Late Show With David Letterman.
In January, U.S. tabloid The National Enquirer reported the star was battling cancer and had undergone emergency surgery.
However, Newman's representative Warren Cowan dismissed the allegations at the time, claiming the star was in hospital "being treated for athlete's foot and hair loss".
In a newly released statement, he explains, "He's (Newman) having back problems. He has to stay off his feet for a couple of weeks."...

Liza Minnelli and David Gest have separated - just 16 months after their lavish, star-studded New York wedding. Word that the celebrity couple had split came four months after they called off plans for a glitzy wedding anniversary party, blaming the looming war with Iraq, and Minnelli's subsequent admission into a rehab clinic. A report on the website Newsday.Com quoted an unidentified source close to the couple as saying Gest, 49, was staying in Hawaii, while Minnelli, 57, daughter of the late Judy Garland, remained in her Manhattan, New York apartment. Minnelli's publicist Warren Cowan says, "I can confirm that they're separated, but that's all I know." It was not clear how long the pair had been apart, but earlier in the day, the couple abruptly canceled a joint interview scheduled for next week on CNN's Larry King Live, says a spokeswoman for the show. In March, Minnelli, who has battled addictions to alcohol and painkillers for years, checked into a rehabilitation center in rural Pennsylvania for what her publicist had described as an eight-week "self-help program". Emerging from a prolonged struggle with substance abuse and various health problems, including a near-fatal bout of viral encephalitis in 2000, the Oscar-winning performer relaunched both her career and her personal life with her marriage to concert promoter Gest in March of last year. It was one of the most talked about weddings of the year, with a celebrity- packed guest list that included Elizabeth Taylor, Michael Jackson, Elton John, Anthony Hopkins and Andrew Lloyd Webber.

Liza Minnelli had successful surgery on Wednesday for her fractured kneecap, according to doctors at a Bologna, Italy, hospital. The 57-year-old performer tripped on Sunday in the hotel where she'd been staying while preparing for a benefit concert with Luciano Pavarotti in nearby Modena, the opera star's hometown. Instead, she ended up singing a few bars from the hospital Tuesday night in a television link with Pavarotti and other big music names at the benefit. Riccardo Baldi, an official at Rizzoli Institute hospital, says doctors reported that the two-hour operation on the right knee went well, but it's too soon to tell when Minnelli will be released. The singer's publicist, Warren Cowan, says Minnelli is expected to work with a knee specialist in London for about 10 days after leaving the hospital and probably will have to wear a full-leg cast for about a month.

Liza Minnelli has fuelled speculation that her marriage to David Gest is in tatters - after she downed a trio of scotch drinks at a New York restaurant before bursting into tears. Recovering alcohol Minnelli and her bodyguard Mohammed arrived at Manhattan's Beekman Kitchen around 6.30pm and ordered a couple of rounds of J&B whisky and Coke, say sources. After downing two drinks in 30 minutes, Minnelli ordered a straight shot of scotch to finish off, then burst into tears, a stunned onlooker tells showbiz website Page Six. Although restaurant manager Lonnie Barnett has confirmed the incident, Minnelli's publicist Warren Cowan strongly denies that his client drank anything stronger than Coke. Cowan adds that Gest wasn't with her because he was busy rehearsing for Wednesday's Miracle On 34th Street show at Madison Square Garden, an all-star tribute to Ray Charles featuring a reunion of Patti LaBelle and other top names. Gest has said in the past that he won't tolerate Liza returning to her bad old pills and booze days. In September, Minnelli was spotted having dinner with another man at Le Bilboquet on Manhattan's Upper East Side. She reportedly sobbed throughout and was heard to say, "And he's going to keep the ring!," before jumping up and running out of the restaurant, leaving her partner to pay the bill.

Dame Elizabeth Taylor chuckled through a weekend honor as part of this year's Kennedy Center Honors in Washington - but shocked fans with her frail appearance. John Travolta, Burt Bacharach and Dionne Warwick were among those paying tribute to the 70-year-old actress, who was honored alongside Paul Simon, James Earl Jones, conductor James Levine and dancer Chita Rivera at the ceremony hosted by America's President George W. Bush and his wife Laura. However, it was the Oscar winner's poor health that had most people talking. Using a wheelchair, Taylor struggled through the celebration, explaining, "I'm a little tired. I have quite a few physical problems. My heart may stop at any minute." Her publicist Warren Cowan told concerned fans, "She wants to walk but she just can't do a lot of it." Taylor also received tributes from American Secretary of State Colin Powell and the Gay Men's Chorus Of Washington Dc, which sang "There's Nothing Like A Dame" to her.

Liza Minnelli has been behaving like a diva while preparing her new VH1 reality show Liza And David's Dinner Party. The Cabaret star and her manager/husband David Gest haven't been very co-operative in the preparations for the show, which is meant to challenge MTV's The Osbournes and E!'s The Anna Nicole Show in the cable voyeurism sweepstakes. An insider told the New York Daily News, "They haven't been nasty but haven't exactly been considerate." VH1 execs had arranged to hold interviews for the job of executive producer in the "nicest conference room in the Viacom building" in New York, but the room proved unacceptable to the couple, who insisted the meetings took place at their favorite hotel, the Plaza Athenee. And when VH1 booked the luxury suite, Liza didn't turn up. The source says, "Liza didn't even show up. It was just David, which is OK, since he's the TV producer. But eventually she'll have to meet the producer, so they'll have to do it again." Liza also cancelled a photo shoot. The couple's rep Warren Cowan explains, "Liza had a little cold. So they were a little late. So they changed the site to the Plaza Athénée. What difference does it make? There's no problem here. There is a love affair between VH1 and Liza and David." A VH1 rep vouches the delayed meeting "was mutually changed. VH1 is really happy with Liza and David. They're our No.1 project."...

Hollywood legend Elizabeth Taylor has hit out at reports she is battling serious illness, insisting her health problems are "nothing ominous." A U.S. tabloid last week claimed the Cleopatra star was fighting for her life after being diagnosed with pneumonia - the disease that killed close pal actor Rod Steiger earlier this month. Magazine Globe alleged Taylor had checked into hospital for tests and X-rays and had to return after experiencing breathing difficulties. They quoted a source close to the star saying, "She had experienced three days of nausea and literally couldn't keep anything down and also developed some sort of urinary problem. She's getting lots of prayers, add right now she needs them." But Taylor's press representative Warren Cowan laughed off claims the actress is on her last legs. When asked by New York gossip site PageSix.com for a comment, Cowan explained whatever illness Taylor has, hasn't stopped her daily routine. He replied, "It's nothing ominous. She's at the vet, with her dog Sugar right now."...
