The Weird
- Composer
- Soundtrack
The Weird began with a 7" single in 1993, an homage to River Phoenix titled "Phoenix Blues", which was recorded by Earle Mankey. The original line-up featured Bill Bateman of The Blasters on drums and Michael Tierney on vocals and guitar.
In 1996 The Weird recorded the full soundtrack to the feature film Evicted (1999). The full length album and additional film music was produced and recorded by Beachy, and included guitar work by Rick Ballard and electric and upright bass played by Dave Eckles. Chopper Franklin also sat in on a few sessions, providing excellent guitar lines on Evicted Theme, Jalopy, and a few other tracks.
The Evicted Soundtrack album includes the following tracks: Evicted Theme, Jalopy, Fuck You, Steel Cowboy, White Trash Girl, DUI, Hail Micro, The Return of Phoenix Blues (a hardcore punk version for their earlier tribute to River Phoenix), and The Hitcher.
All tracks are available on Amazon, Youtube, and Spotify.
