Batman and Joker are two of the most beloved DC comics characters of all time, and both have been played by numerous actors on the screen. However, when it comes to the best Batman-Joker pairing, fans will wholeheartedly agree that Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill were the best hero-villain duo they have ever come across. With films like Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker and The Batman Superman Movie: World’s Finest, both actors have proven why they are considered to be the best of the best.
A still from Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker
Not only was their voice as Batman and Joker loved by the fans, but the two actors also had a great time working together. Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill’s Batman: The Killing Joke sure was a controversial addition to the collection, but that didn’t stop them from making the most of it.

Regarded as one of the groundbreaking superhero series, Bruce Timm and Eric Radomski’s Batman: The Animated Series originally aired on Fox Kids from 1992 to 1995. Timm and Radomski borrowed filmmaker Tim Burton’s unique vision of the Bat-verse for their animated series commissioned by Warner Bros. The animated series became the first series in the continuity of the shared Dcau.
Upon its premiere, the animated series received a positive response from critics and the audience, especially for its writing, modern take on Batman, art design, and voiceovers. Batman: The Animated Series’ dark and brooding atmosphere depicting the gritty and glamorous city was perfectly showcased in the series. Writer and Actress Felicia Day stopped by San Diego Comic-Con along with some of her cast from her new story “Third Eye.” Day is the creator and star of the web series The Guild (2007–2013), a show loosely based on her life as a gamer. As an actress, Day has played Vi in the series Buffy the Vampire Slayer (2003) and Dr. Holly Marten in Eureka (2011) and had a recurring role as Charlie Bradbury on Supernatural (2012–2015, 2018–2020).
According to Audible, “Third Eye” is about the magical land of San Francisco, there lived a not-so-ordinary girl named Laurel Pettigrew. She was supposed to be the Chosen One. The plan was simple: She would vanquish the great evil Tybus in an epic battle. But destiny had other ideas, and Laurel’s performance in the whole heroics department was a colossal flop.
Now, instead of being a legendary hero, Laurel’s the resident pariah of the magic realm.

Alberto Barbera is the longest-serving director of the Venice Film Festival. Counting this year’s event, which kicks off August 30, Barbera will have racked up 15 years at the helm. After a short, three-year stint from 1999-2001, Barbera returned in 2011, beginning what many consider the festival’s new golden age. Under his guidance, Venice has become a springboard for the Oscars (Gravity, Birdman, La La Land, The Shape of Water) and a launchpad for studio blockbusters (Joker, Dune).
His current term is up next year, but when asked if he would sign up again, Barbera just laughs. “Do you think if they offered it to me I would say no? It’s an offer you can’t refuse.”
Every sentence out of Barbera’s mouth seems to contain a film quote. But he came to cinema almost by accident. Unhappy with his job as a substitute teacher in middle school, he...

“Summer’s end is around the bend just flyin’” according to the great John E. Prine and Patrick James McLaughlin, whose song “Summer’s End” appeared in Season 2 of “The Summer I Turned Pretty” covered by Phoebe Bridgers and Maria Taylor. This applies to reality as the seasons and months change, but also to Jenny Han’s “The Summer I Turned Pretty,” which just wrapped its second season on Prime Video. Don’t blink though, because even though Season 3 is delayed due to the ongoing strikes, it will likely be the last one.

Just as music is a big part of The Summer I Turned Pretty, the Amazon Prime Video original series’ star, Lola Tung, used it to get into character. What the actor listened to for a fast way to get into Isabel “Belly” Conklin’s “headspace” and what she looked for in songs.

Kim Petras’s “You Can’t Do Better” might’ve blared through the speakers as Belly sang along on the way to Cousins with her brother Steven (Sean Kaufman), and mother Laurel (Jackie Chung) in the Tsitp premiere episode. However, the track may not have made the cut for season 2 based on Tung’s description of her own Belly playlist that helped her get into character.
“It was a lot of slightly more emotional songs — songs that felt nostalgic,” she told The New York Times.

The talented cast of "The Summer I Turned Pretty" takes us on an emotional journey throughout the eight episodes of season two. The season delves into the aftermath of Susannah's death as the Cousins Beach group rally to save the summer house from being sold by her sister. And while the season excelled in some aspects, like Taylor and Steven's romantic tension, it fell short when it came to sensitively handling how the ripple effects of grief play out in the infamous love triangle between Belly, Conrad, and Jeremiah. There was no shortage of moments to cringe at, including Jeremiah's one-liners and mischievous lip bites or Belly's emotional outburst at Susannah's funeral. But there was one thing that stood out from the other moments, and that was how Belly (Lola Tung) continuously compared her loss and grief to that of Jeremiah (Gavin Casalegno) and Conrad (Christopher Briney), Susannah's sons.

Laurel Park (Jackie Chung) doesn’t fully break down over Susannah’s death until Episode 7 of “The Summer I Turned Pretty.”
While Belly (Lola Tung), Steven (Sean Kaufman), Taylor (Rain Spencer), Conrad Fisher (Chris Briney), Jeremiah Fisher (Gavin Casalegno), Skye (Elsie Fisher) and Cam Cameron (David Iacono) threw a party to rebel against the sale of the Cousins Beach house by Aunt Julia (Kyra Sedgwick), Laurel remained unaware of Julia’s plans and the kids’ efforts to thwart them. It was a drunken call from Belly that tipped Laurel off as to what her children were really up to while she was away promoting her new memoir, “It’s Not Summer Without You.” The book was about meeting Susannah and living life as best friends from college.
“Laurel just thinks that if she deals with her grief, she will crumble and she won’t be able to be a pillar...

Kyra Sedgwick crafted a detailed backstory for her character Aunt Julia, who catalyzes the plot for Season 2 of “The Summer I Turned Pretty.”
Julia is Susannah’s half-sister who inherits the Cousins Beach house after Susannah (Rachel Blanchard) dies between the first and second seasons of the show. To thwart Julia’s sale of the house, Susannah’s son Conrad goes missing. His brother Jeremiah and their joint love interest Belly join in to make the sale a living hell.
“It was good to be somebody who comes in and affects change. That’s a great character to play. Without her there wouldn’t be a plot this season,” Sedgwick told TheWrap over the phone before the SAG-AFTRA strike began. “I think she is a formidable antagonist because I think that she feels right and dug into her side. She has a different experience in that house, and I think that to a degree,...

[This interview was conducted prior to the SAG-AFTRA strike authorization.] [Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 2 Episode 7 “Love Affair.”] The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 2 may be about the love triangle between Belly (Lola Tung) and brothers Conrad (Christopher Briney) and Jeremiah Fisher (Gavin Casalegno), but it’s also about grief as everyone deals with the loss of their mother, Susannah Fisher (Rachel Blanchard). Her death has had very different effects on her best friend Laurel (Jackie Chung), who is also Belly’s mom, and Susannah’s sister Julia (Kyra Sedgwick). “They don’t really speak,” Sedgwick told TV Insider of Julia and Susannah prior to the latter’s death. “It’s a wonderful arc to play because she starts out there and then she ends up in a very different place.” (Credit: Jenny Han via Instagram) By the end of Episode 7, “Love Affair,” Julia has chosen to back out of selling Susannah’...

Life is filled with wins and losses.
And The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 2 Episode 7 had a bit of both, especially depending on which side of this love triangle you may fall on because it seems that, for now, Belly has made her choice.
At the very least, she's made things even more complicated even as we made some progress in the relationships between the trio and got a win with the summer house.
Who knew Laurel would be the secret weapon in the teens managing to keep Susannah's house after all?
This person knew, but that's beside the point.
The hour felt more balanced and blended the elements composing the season better than some previous installments.
One of the strongest aspects of this hour was that it finally knew what to do with Laurel and brought her into the fold in a way that the season desperately needed.

Daisy Jones & The Six star Sam Claflin arrived at his final audition to play fictional 1970s rock star Billy Dunne without, by his own admission, the strongest grasp on the type of musician he was expected to embody.
His future showrunners had already taken a shine to the dimpled British actor, as had music supervisor Frankie Pine and producer Hello Sunshine’s president Lauren Neustadter, but one last hurdle remained before he could land the male lead in Amazon’s hot adaptation of Taylor Jenkins Reid’s novel of the same name. He had to sing live for the project’s music producers, Blake Mills and Tony Berg. Pine gave Claflin a shot of moonshine to soothe his nerves. The actor entered the storied halls of Sound City Studios, the Van Nuys building where Mick Fleetwood first met Lindsey Buckingham, and proceeded to kind of blow it. “I had prepared Elton John’s ‘Your Song,...

Though we sadly lost Kevin Conroy in 2022, his legacy as the definitive Batman voice actor is well and truly established. Conroy was part of the reason Bruce Timm and Eric Radomski's "Batman: The Animated Series" was as influential as it was. But it wasn't just his input that gave the show its enduring appeal. Aside from reimagining Batman for a whole new generation in the '90s, "Batman: Tas" is noteworthy for introducing Mark Hamill's Joker.
Hamill was so good in the role he turned a quick cameo into a career playing the Clown Prince of Crime. And quite the career it's been. The "Star Wars" actor has become just as well known for his Joker portrayal across the DC Animated Universe and beyond as he has for playing Luke Skywalker. His name is synonymous with the animated version of Batman's greatest foe, to the extent it seems...
