All but one of the tracks on Bob Dylan’s new album Together Through Life are co-written with Grateful Dead lyricist Robert Hunter. It’s the most help he’s ever had on a single album, but hardly the first time Dylan has written with a partner. Over the past 45 years he’s shared credit with Tom Petty, Rick Danko, Sam Shepard, Carole Bayer Sager and even Gene Simmons and Michael Bolton. Here are the stories behind five of those collaborations.

Robert Hunter, the poet and writer who provided the Grateful Dead with many of their vivid and enduring lyrics, died Monday night. He was 78. No cause of death was provided.
“It is with great sadness we confirm our beloved Robert passed away yesterday night,” Hunter’s family announced in a statement. “He died peacefully at home in his bed, surrounded by love. His wife Maureen was by his side holding his hand. For his fans that have loved and supported him all these years, take comfort in knowing that his words are all around us,...

Though the phenomenal success of Adele's most recent album contributed to the theory that the record industry might not be entirely dead yet, Billboard's new list of 2015's highest-paid musicians seems to confirm the new axiom of post-digital music: Touring is what's gonna pay the bills. The magazine crunched numbers from an artist's album sales, streaming revenue, publishing royalties (when other people cover or perform a song you wrote) and touring gross to come up with a final tally. Check out the top 10 below. 1. Taylor Swift Total 2015 Revenue: $73.5M Swift brought in the vast majority of 2015's cash through her 1989 World Tour,...

So for those of you who didn't make it to Chicago this weekend to witness the final chapter -- Fare Thee Well -- in The Grateful Dead's storied career, here's a 4th of July (Buffalo 7-4-89) show that will certainly make you smile. Check out Jerry shredding -- no kidding -- on "All Along The Watchtower". And it's not too late to buy their two final two pay-per-view gigs.

So if you know anything about The Grateful Dead, you know that this is their 50th anniversary. Their final shows will take place in Santa Clara, CA (2 shows) and in Chicago at Soldier's Field (3 shows). (A live webcast of all five concerts will be available for $79.95 at Dead.net.) To celebrate this historic milestone, Dead.net has just started taking advance orders on their new 80-disc box set -- Thirty Trips Around The Sun -- featuring 30 unreleased shows; one show from every year of touring! (It's planned for a September 18th release date.) You may not have enough time to listen to all 80 discs, but if you're a Deadhead, how can you say no? There will also be a 4-cd sampler set -- Thirty Trips 1965-1995 -- that serves as an introductory sampler to the Dead’s live canon, including 30 unreleased performances — one from each concert in the boxed...

Grateful Dead drummer Bill Kreutzmann joined the band over 50 years ago, and he amassed some incredible stories throughout his tenure with the psychedelic jam-rock legends. One of the funniest tales – which he shared this week on Conan – involved a pot of coffee, some LSD and Playboy founder Hugh Hefner.
In the late Sixties, the Dead were invited to perform on Hefner's CBS program, Playboy After Dark. As the band arrived at the studio for soundcheck, they noticed some odd behaviors from the crew, resulting in technical glitches like out-of-focus cameras.

The recent passing of Lesley Gore was not noted on We Are Movie Geeks, I’d like to correct that and as a tribute to her review one of the best concerts ever captured on film (actually on video but I’ll get to that soon.)
Born Lesley Sue Goldstein in New York City on May 2nd 1946 Lesley Gore passed on February 16, this year. She never tried her hand at acting (to my knowledge) yet she appeared in several films and many television shows singing one of or more of her considerable string of hits in a very strong voice, for such a little lady.
It’s My Party is probably her most famous and well remembered song but Judy’s Turn To Cry, Maybe I Know, Sunshine Lollipops, You Don’t Own Me and several other songs charted during her long career. She never resented being consigned to the...

If you haven't seen the critically-acclaimed, albeit short-lived masterpiece that is "Freaks and Geeks," we suggest you do so immediately. And if you're overdue for a binge-watch, we think now would be the perfect time to revisit some old friends.
Judd Apatow's '80s-set teenage dramedy turns 15 on September 25, but it still holds up as one of the best coming-of-age TV programs of all time. The show was not only a launching pad for the careers of mega-stars like Seth Rogen and James Franco, it was a realistic snapshot of the suburban high school experience that brought us a hilariously realistic portrayal of what it means to be young, lost, and misunderstood.
"Freaks and Geeks" lives on in our hearts (and on our Netflix rotation). Why not celebrate its anniversary by rounding up 10 life lessons we learned from the beloved series?
1. You don't need to get wasted to have a good time.

Traditional wrestling (together with its many off-shoots) is a sport of genuinely ancient origins. Archaeological evidence reveals that wrestling was practiced in ancient India, Greece (the philosopher Plato was actually a wrestler), Egypt, Japan and pretty much everywhere else in the world.
Professional wrestling (one such off-shoot) is also pretty old, having existed, in one form or another, since about the turn of the last century.
That’s a lot of ground to cover.
What you’ll get here, then, is a sort of ‘potted history’ of the grapplers in question, together with how and why they changed the wrestling business forever.
Of course, the ten wrestlers picked here are by no means the Only wrestlers to ever change the face of the business, nor are they listed in any real order, these are just ten wrestlers who, for better or worse, had a profound impact on the...

Rock n' Roll Will Never Die! kicks off at Trailers from Hell, with director Allan Arkush introducing "Festival Express."Director Bob Smeaton’s rock ‘n road-trip movie, featuring some of 1970′s preeminent musicians on a five day train tour through Canada, is an essential time capsule of what happened when the swinging sixties made its awkward leap into the unforgiving after-party of the ’70s. There are eye-opening run-ins with hostile fans along the way but the camaraderie of the musicians, including Janis Joplin, The Band and The Grateful Dead keeps spirits high (literally). Because the tour was a financial disaster, the footage sat unused in a garage for years before being resurrected for presentation at the 2003 Toronto Film Festival.

The Simpsons Season 25 opened with a spot-on parody of the popular drama Homeland.
Because most people were probably killing time until the Showtime drama's return, "Homerland" played off what fan's appreciate most about both Homeland and The Simpsons.
The Simpsons has always done an excellent job with parody, and tonight was no exception. First, the show opened with clever Springfield version of the Homeland opening, before creating the perfect amount of creepiness of Homer's change. His sudden abstinence from both pork and alcohol were one thing, but then he went and used a napkin. He exactly mirrored Brody's calm focus and it was quite amusing.
Even better was the inclusion of a Carrie Matheson clone who works for the FBI. The writers captured everything that's frustrating about Carrie's character with their Annie Crawford. Unhinged and insecure, Agent Crawford hallucinates regularly, but still slips into the Simpsons' household and gets the...

There's no question that the music industry is in trouble, and record labels are doing everything they can to try to stay afloat and figure out how to do business in the new media world. Despite the financial troubles of some of those institutions, you would think that certain places would be protected by history. But there was a scare last week when a rumor floated around that Emi was thinking about selling Abbey Road Studios, made legendary by the Beatles for their 1969 album Abbey Road and the site of the recording of legendary albums like Pink Floyd's The Dark Side of the Moon and Radiohead's The Bends.
But though composer Andrew Lloyd Webber was floated as a potential buyer, Emi announced that they were not planning on selling the place. "We believe that Abbey Road should remain in Emi's ownership," the company said in a statement.
