Sad news, “One Life to Live” fans. Last Week’S Review: ‘Mr. Robot’ Throws All Decorum Out The Window
Swedish Psycho
We start right before last week’s episode ended, with Joanna Wellick waiting to confront Elliot. To him, everything about Joanna is off. He thinks she can hear his conversations with us, and Mr. Robot feels like she can see him. This week poured fuel on a smoldering fan theory that Tyrell is yet another one of Elliot’s personas — Joanna continues to address Elliot as “Ollie,” using the wrong name but with an air that she’s in on the joke. Does that mean she’s also playing along with Tyrell-as-Elliot, too? Even the name of this episode, “Hidden Process,” points towards the idea of another persona hiding in Elliot’s head. This show has made some outlandish plot turns work in that past, but this one strains credulity. If they really are going this route,...

Sam Esmail is one of the most innovative creators to make his mark on television in a long time. But his greatest skill, after all, may lie more in synthesis and imitation than originality. Mr. Robot is brimming with visual and plot references to movies ranging from Taxi Driver and The Parallax View to Fight Club and Trainspotting, masterpieces of paranoia one and all. But one well we never expected Esmail to draw from? How about Too Many Cooks?

A review of tonight's Mr. Robot coming up just as soon as I give Alf four... "I'm never going to leave you. Promise." -Edward Alderson "Master Slave" is essentially two distinct episodes of Mr. Robot mashed together, starting off with a long and unusual Elliot/Mr. Robot sequence, then turning into a caper movie revolving around Angela and Darlene. had you told me last season that an episode would have had such a clear split, I would have assumed the Elliot half was the more exciting part, and that Angela teaming up with fsociety was just something to keep the supporting actors busy to avoid working Rami Malek to death. Instead, the caper plot was the episode's clear winner, while Elliot mental journey into '90s family sitcom-land was a fun idea that (like a lot of this season) arguably ran too long, before paying off well in the end.

Mr Robot gave us answers this week, leaving us wondering, what does it have left in store for season 2? Major spoilers ahead...
This review contains spoilers.
1.9 eps1.8_m1rr0r1ng.qt
So now we have it, proof of the theory floated by fans since episode one: Mr Robot isn’t real. He’s a construct of Elliot’s psychosis. Elliot is Mr Robot.
Contrary to expectation, having predicted the twist didn’t dilute its dramatic impact. That was largely thanks to Rami Malek, whose performance sold Elliot’s desperate disorientation with utter conviction. Props have to go to Christian Slater too, and moreover to whomever cast him in this part. I can’t think of a better choice to play a middle-aged malcontent lunatic hacker projected from the mind of his malcontent lunatic hacker son. Kudos.
It also helped that we were still reeling from the end of last week’s episode,...

The year was 1994, and a beacon of the upcoming technological revolution had just begun to shine brightly on a sleepy South New Jersey town. That fall, Edward Alderson, a man in his mid-40s but full of entrepreneurial zeal, opened the first computer store in the area. Called Mr. Robot, the shop promised “computer repair with a smile” and featured the most advanced products of the period. One day, a man visited the store and accused Edward’s young son, who sometimes helped with the day-to-day operations, of stealing $20. Edward tried to reason with the man, who at first just wanted his money back and an apology but then threatened to call the cops. He berated Edward, “You’re just teaching him how to steal.” The man left the store without money or an apology, and after Edward’s son handed over the neatly folded Jackson, he asked his dad...

Chandler Massey celebrates after his win last night
That Chandler Massey would win the Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Younger Actor in a Drama Series seems likes a no-brainer to those of us who have closely followed his work this past year. He of course plays the newly out Will Horton on NBC’s Days Of Our Lives, and the talented Massey walked off with his first Emmy in hand last night…the first time an actor has won a Daytime Emmy for playing a gay character.
Talking to AfterElton from the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills shortly after the win, Massey told us that he had been free of nerves until his category actually came up. “I wasn't nervous at all this morning or anything,” he said, “but when they started announcing the names in the category I got really nervous.”

Two of our top Experts at predicting the Daytime Emmys -- Nelson Branco (Soap Opera Uncensored) and Dan J. Kroll (Soap Central) -- have been battling about the winners of the Daytime Emmy Awards. They have already squared off over Best Drama Series, agreed on Best Actor and differed over Best Actress, Best Supporting Actor and Best Supporting Actress. Now they turn their attention to Best Younger Actor. In this category, Dan predicts a first win for Chandler Massey ("Days of Our Lives") while Nelson expects Chad Duell ("General Hospital") to prevail after one loss as well. On episode 2.58 of We Love Soaps TV from the Love Out Loud VI fundraiser at Prohibition in New York City, Billy Warlock discusses his role in "The Normal Heart," the possibility of writing an autobiography someday, and shares his honest opinions on what daytime soaps could have done to save themselves.
We Love Soaps TV: What do you think needs to happen for the last four shows to remain viable and stay on the air? What, if anything, can they do from your perspective?
Billy Warlock: Nothing. And it's not their fault. Honestly, it could have been saved 5, 7, 8, 9, 10 years ago. It's all about money baby. Listen, it's simple. When you see shows getting rid of their mainstays to bring in $1,000 a day actors, that's your first sign of trouble. Tell stories with your core people. Get rid of everybody else. You want the four shows to remain? Get rid...

Can things get any crappier for One Life to Live's Bo and Nora Buchanan? Oh, yes indeed. The fan-fave couple — played by Emmy winners Robert S. Woods and Hillary B. Smith — are currently in a mess o' trouble because their teen son Matthew killed Eddie Ford, the town psychopath, and they have yet to report it. Their intentions are good — they're trying to find the best way to help Matthew (Eddie Alderson) through the legal system — but it's a clear obstruction of justice made worse by the fact that Bo is the police commissioner and Nora is the D.A. Now they've got bigger problems: This coming week, their kid is punched in the head during an altercation with Eddie's son, Nate. On May 23, Matthew will collapse and, later, he's diagnosed as being very nearly brain-dead. Then comes word that Bo's brother Clint (Jerry verDorn) needs a new heart or he will die.

If “every writer is a frustrated actor…,” as Rod Serling is quoted as saying, then shouldn’t the chance for a journalist to act in the medium they cover be equally thrilling? Yes… thrilling and terrifying, as I found out when I got to do a small part on ABC’s One Life to Live. My scene with Bo (Bob Woods) and Rex (John-Paul Lavoisier) airs today, so you can judge how it all turned out. But I can tell you what it was like getting through it.

The fictional town of Llanview, Pennsylvania got a very special visitor on Wednesday (February 24) when rapper Snoop Dogg dropped by the set of the day time soap opera "One Life to Live" to perform the song "I Wanna Rock" from his latest album album Malice in Wonderland.
That's right: Snoop. On a soap opera. Performing. That really happened, and it was all kinds of magical.
Snoop is no stranger to "Oltl" (this marked his third appearance on the show). As he did in the past, he played himself and had scenes with some of the town's key characters, including resident Police Commissioner Bo Buchanan (Robert S. Woods) and his wife Nora Buchanan (Hillary B. Smith). Snoop talked love and life with the Buchanans over a slice of pizza and also tried to convince them to let their teenage son Matthew (Eddie Alderson) attend his performance at the local night club,...

Snoop Dogg returns to his soap home tomorrow when he guest stars on One Life to Live for the second time in two years. Once again he'll play a version of himself (one with ties to the fictional town of Llanview), perform a new song, and act. Snoop's said that he grew up watching this show and has a special affinity for Robert S. Woods and his Bo character. That's probably why the pioneering rapper once again seems to really enjoy being a part of the action. Take a look as Snoop talks Bo and Nora Buchanan (Hillary B. Smith...

Snoop Dogg can't stay away from One Life to Live.
The rapper appeared as himself twice in May, remixing the show's theme song in the process.
Now, he's booked to return on February 24, as Snoop will perform his single "I Wanna Rock, while also acting alongside Robert S. Woods, Hillary B. Smith and Eddie Alderson.
“As I said when I was here last time, I’ve been a fan of ‘One Life to Live’ since I was a baby because my momma always had it on,” Snoop said. “It’s cool to come back and hang with Bo Buchanan and the people in Llanview and rock out with them.”...

You would think getting a chance to watch the Oscar-nominated performance from Angelina Jolie in Clint Eastwood's Changeling would be a welcome proposal, but at two hours and 20 minutes this film is a tough one to relive, but I will admit Universal's Blu-ray U Control feature made it a bit easier to handle the second time around. Of course that doesn't sell you on buying it since the number one reason we buy a movie is for the movie and hopefully we don't need the special features just to watch it. My biggest problem with Changeling is that there is no surprise, no shock and no twists around the corner to catch the audience off guard. As I was watching in the theater I kept waiting for the reason the movie was made to become evident to me. If this was a film to prove the Los Angeles police...

Angelina Jolie in Changeling
Photo: Universal Pictures Clint Eastwood's Changeling has one specific failing, you know what's going to happen before it happens at every turn. It's unfortunate, because outside of the film's inability to keep the viewer engaged it manages to score big numbers just about everywhere else. Based on a true story, Changeling begins in Los Angeles in 1928 and centers on Christine Collins played by Angelina Jolie in a way much more subdued than the trailers would lead us to believe. My number one fear going into this film was Jolie would be angling for an emotional breakdown at all times sending the film into a dramatic bout of melodrama. Jolie, in fact, plays the part to perfection and it is instead Eastwood's slow moving score and tendency to keep the camera lingering that turns this film into an over the top dramatic piece rather than the...
