IESB reports that 20th Century Fox has hired writer Kyle Ward to write the sequel to 2007's "Hitman", which made almost $100 million worldwide. The first film, based on the video game, was directed by Xavier Gens and stars Timothy Olyphant, Dougray Scott, Olga Kurylenko, Robert Knepper, Ulrich Thomsen and Michael Offei. Adrian Askarieh, Daniel Alter and Chuck Gordon will return as producers. Ward wrote the upcoming Bruce Willis-starrer "Kane Lynch" and also penned "Fiasco Heights" for Michael Bay's Platinum Dunes....

Despite striking out with both audiences and critics Hitman managed to rake in over $100 million at the worldwide box-office on a modest $24 million budget, and thus Fox looks to be moving ahead with a sequel. According to the folks over at IESB, the studio has signed on Kyle Ward to write the script for the next installment of the action series. Apparently Ward is one of Hollywood’s “hottest, young writers”, having written the upcoming thriller Fiasco Heights and the video game adaptation Kane & Lynch. The first film, which was based on the popular video game franchise of the same name, centered on a gun-for-hire known only as Agent 47 who is hired by a group known as 'The Organization' which ultimately entangles him in a political conspiracy.
