Unlike The Last Airbender, The Legend of Korra had a different approach to its show, as it preferred to follow a more mature protagonist and deal with more layered themes such as politics, class, and Post-traumatic stress disorder (Ptsd). While the 2005 show was labeled as age-neutral, the sequel is more appealing to an older audience, who have an interest in these themes.
Korra
Though the show is undeniably remarkable, full of intricate world-building with three-dimensional characters, it is disliked by a percentage of the franchise’s fans. However, a fan has come forward and mentioned how some of the events featured in the show were quite unnecessary. If the story writers avoided making the story so complex, and how certain events did not make any sense at all.

When it comes to nostalgic TV shows, Avatar: The Last Airbender is unrivaled. The Nickelodeon show had an outstanding run during its three seasons from 2005 to 2008. Even though it has been 19 years since the show was premiered on our TV screens, it continues to charm its audience. The show features elements that could not be found anywhere else and for an animated series made exclusively for children was age-neutral.
Aang
With the concept of ‘bending’ the elements of Water, Earth, Fire, and Air, the show’s battles were as amazing as they could be. The show’s battle sequences were greatly ahead of its time, making it a great conversation topic among fans. Despite featuring such great action sequences, the show made one grave error while featuring the battle between Aang vs Azula.

The Legend of Korra has perfectly continued the story of Avatar: The Last Airbender. If the original animated series introduced the world, the spin-off built upon it to a degree no one saw coming. One of the most explored aspects was that of bending; more specifically, how much more one could do as a bender.
Avatar: The Last Airbender
During Aang’s time, it was as though we were shown only the tip of the iceberg. However, by the time Korra comes around, it is as though everything becomes more and more advanced. Suddenly, earthbenders and firebenders are also taking part in medicine, and airbenders could propel themselves like cannonballs.

Avatar: The Last Airbender’s Aang remains a controversial character as many fans question if he really has not killed anybody despite the amount of fights and battles he has gone through. Surely, he has the skills and wits to control every element, but what about those who are not gifted like him?
Nickelodeon’s Avatar: The Last Airbender
The question still lingers: has Aang killed anyone? The general answer would be no, not explicitly. But certainly, fans cannot say he is completely innocent. Even though he is the Avatar and he follows certain tenets, he has still hurt a lot of people.
Reddit Fans Weigh In On Aang’s Total Number Of Kills
Avatar fans took their sentiments to Reddit and discussed Aang’s number of kills. One user noticed that the character did a lot of violent actions throughout the show, which implies that he could have killed some of them.

One of the stars behind Netflix’s Avatar: The Last Airbender got honest about some of the reviews critics gave the show.
Fans were extremely excited ahead of the live-action series' release, especially since everything about the project looked so accurate to the original series.
Sadly, when Avatar finally aired, the reception to it was lukewarm. Critics were vocally disappointed by many aspects of it—though parts of it got constant praise, such as the performances from Paul Sun-Hyung Lee and Dallas Liu as Uncle Iroh and Zuko.

Avatar: The Last Airbender introduced audiences to the bending arts, which was a fun spin on a tried and tested magic system that was based on the four classical elements. It fused the elements with martial arts, spirituality, and celestial objects, which was able to weave an original magic system with complex lore that intrigued fans about how the magic of the world of Avatar conducts itself.
Aang, in the Avatar State, is a key part of the magic system.
Complex magic systems like the bending arts tend to come with meticulous planning from the creators. However, there is one aspect of firbending in particular that is uncharacteristically left unexplored in the final seasons of Avatar: The Last Airbender, a concept that factors heavily into the finale of the series.

One of the strongest characters to come out of Avatar: The Last Airbender was the General of the Fire Nation and former heir to the throne, Iroh. Serving as a kindhearted, funny, and wise mentor figure to Zuko, the Prince of the Fire Nation and his nephew, the character soon endeared himself to all the viewers.
Uncle Iroh and Zuko
There is no doubt that Iroh is one of the strongest characters in the world of Avatar: The Last Airbender, but the show has alluded to his power multiple times, even when he is not fighting in a combat situation. The character is very spiritually attuned, something that usually indicates how powerful a character is in the world of Avatar: The Last Airbender.

Avatar: The Legend of Korra and its predecessor Avatar: The Last Airbender draw a lot from real-world politics for a kid’s show. Dealing with issues like genocide, propaganda, and war, it is not a surprise that the show took inspiration from real-world political figures to talk about the themes it explores in its sequel series, The Legend of Korra.

There is a particular reading of the villain for the first season of Legend of Korra that equated him with Joseph Stalin, the leader of the former Ussr. The similarities between their philosophies, which focused on the democratization or eradication of unequal social structures is something that fans have pointed out, with Amon’s goal being towards equality, which manifested in him taking away bending from benders.

In the original show, Aang and Katara end up being together. However, fans have often wondered, if it was the plan to begin with, following the undertones in her and Zuko’s bond. Despite starting off on the wrong foot by living on opposite sides of the war, Katara did eventually start to see good in Zuko, but the original show never overtly inclined towards establishing a romantic bond.
But with the live-action series moving forward for two more seasons, the showrunner of the first season refused to indulge if the show will expand upon their bond.

Avatar: The Last Airbender introduced the world to a very creative way to work with a classic magic system: the four classical elements. The bending arts are some of the most well-conceived parts of Avatar: The Last Airbender. However, despite not being able to bend, one of the breakout characters of the show was Sokka.

An actor from Netfix’s Avatar: The Last Airbender series teased one "heartbreaking" arc that seasons two and three have in store.
For many, one of the best part of Netflix’s live-action remake of the beloved Nickelodeon series was the performances behind beloved characters Iroh and Zuko, played by Paul Sun-Hyung Lee and Dallas Liu.
The dynamic between the two brings the duo from animation into live action, and their bond feels authentic. Sadly, as close as those two are, in Book Two of the animated original, there is a notable break between them, leaving them both on their own.

Of all the characters in the Avatar: The Last Airbender universe, perhaps the saddest character with the most heartbreaking story that fans just can’t help but fall deeply in love with is none other than Aang. Yet, the debate about the character with the most painful story still rages on, with fans comparing him to another fan-favorite character: the Fire Nation royal Zuko.
Zuko and Aang in Avatar: The Last Airbender.
But while both of these characters have incredibly heart-wrenching stories where each faced the heartbreak of losing the very thing they cherished, there is one very subtle detail that makes Twinkle Toes’ (as Toph calls him) story even sadder than his rival’s. And as nuanced as this fact may be, it is enough to make all those Sifu Hotman stans shut up.

Avatar: The Last Airbender is on its way to get a film, and it seems that a WWE alum will finally be joining the universe in a significant manner. It has been reported that Guardians of the Galaxy and Dune alum Dave Bautista will be a part of the film, essaying the role of the chief antagonist of the movie.
Dave Bautista as Drax in a still from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3
The film is set to follow the original Team Avatar from The Last Airbender, and will possibly be set before the events of The Legend of Korra. However, given the glimpses of the past that we have seen in the successor series, it is possible that these plot points are expanded on in the film, which indicates that we might come face to face with some of Aang’s foes that we have seen in the show.

It is without a shadow of a doubt that one can say that Fire Lord Ozai and General Iroh are on two opposite ends of the spectrum. While Ozai is the character that most people remember and come back to again and again, Ozai is often relegated by most fans to the simple status of the big bad. However, we do not get to see these two characters have any sort of arc. Instead, the story plays out through Azula and Zuko.

Avatar: The Last Airbender seems to have been cursed with disappointing adaptations, as its viewers have been subjected to the same not once but twice. The recent Netflix adaptation, although better than the 2010 film, has been getting a fair deal of criticism from all directions. From the way the characters were written to the storytelling, to even the VFX, nothing met the audience’s expectations.

Some fans went as far as to accuse the cast and the creators of not taking their responsibilities seriously enough. Straying away from the source material quite a lot, the latest adaption has resulted in fans getting upset, to say the least.

Avatar: The Last Airbender was one of the most beloved stories of all time. Even though it is animation, it managed to completely captivate its audience and became the cult classic that it is today. However, the more excellent a story, the harder it is to retell. Since its end in 2008, there have been two attempts at a live-action adaptation, and both have failed miserably.

Unlike the 2010 film, which had little salvageability, the recent Netflix series has gotten very mixed reviews. It is perhaps because of this feedback that the series was renewed for two more seasons, allowing it to fully tell the story of the animated series and learn from its mistakes.

Avatar: The Last Airbender is a series that has been praised for almost every single aspect; be it the animation, power dynamics, or its storytelling. However, the one thing it has praised on the most is the way it creates its characters. Team Avatar is the perfect example of this, with a perfect balance of all kinds of personalities.

Created by Michael Dante Dimartino and Bryan Konietzko, Avatar: The Last Airbender‘s mythos is as complex as it can get, thanks to its fantasy theme. The world of the animated television series involves four nations, each with their own unique bending abilities: the Fire Nation, Water Tribe, Earth Kingdom, and Air Nomads.
Avatar: The Last Airbender
Based on Aang, the last surviving Avatar capable of saving the Avatar world with his powers of bending all four elements, the story also focuses on Zuko. The exiled prince of the Fire Nation, Zuko shares a great bond with Aang. But surprisingly, as the mythos goes, the two characters are not just friends but actually great-grandfather and great-grandson.

Set in an Asiatic setting involving several fictional elements, Avatar: The Last Airbender also involves elements like spirits and forms of spiritual magic.

A piece of even more exciting news is that the makers are reportedly planning more animated projects to show more of the rich and expansive world of bending and elemental magic. Writers often love to write morally grey characters; seeing how far someone can go into the darkness of the world and still come back to light. This trope is often perfectly paired with redemption arcs, which allow the characters to learn the flaws in their ways. Choosing to be good rather than bad, regardless of how much it goes against what they have been taught.
Zuko from Avatar: The Last Airbender is one of the best examples of such a character.

Avatar: The Last Airbender and Avatar: The Legend of Korra worked hand in hand to make audiences fall in love with the world of bending. While the former acted as the introduction, being the initial sketch of what the different elements were able to do; the latter took it to another level. Filling in the color of all that the elements were capable of and creating a final painting of what we know to be one of the most iconic power structures of all time.

Being set several years apart, the spin-off showed the final product that was being created in the original series. This meant that a lot of techniques and abilities that were introduced in the first series, were taken to a completely new level. While a huge percentage of fans were glad about this, there were some changes that they were not happy with.

Following the success of The Last Airbender, Dimartino and Konietzko were offered the opportunity to extend the series with more future projects. And they decided to develop a series around Aang’s successor, Korra, as the next Avatar. They intended to portray Korra as distinctly different from Aang, charting her unique journey within the Avatar universe.

Avatar: The Last Airbender is making a showrunner change.
Albert Kim, who served as showrunner and wrote the pilot for Netflix’s hit live-action adaptation anime adaptation, is moving on with Christine Boylan and Jabbar Raisani taking over leadership of the show as exec producers for seasons two and three.
Kim shepherded the show for nearly two and a half years and will remain on the show as an executive producer. He has just signed a deal with Disney to join Percy Jackson and the Olympians as an exec producer after it was renewed for a second season.
Boylan was a co-exec producer on the first season. She has previously worked as a co-exec producer on series including Citadel, Poker Face and The Punisher as well as working on series including Castle and Once Upon A Time.

Avatar: The Last Airbender takes its time in establishing the characters. From Aang to the Fire Lord Ozai, each and every character is anything but flat. They have depth in layers that would make an onion look simple. When fans think about them, they do not see characters but actual people.
Such was the magic that Bryan Konietzko and Michael Dante Dimatrino brought to the world.
Aang in Avatar: The Last Airbender
There were many characters who had their own individuality and ability to stand out without being backed by others. One of the most developed characters is Zuko. His journey is one that makes him into the person he is today through great turmoil and suffering.
From an anti-hero to a fan-favorite character, his growth was definitely an interesting one to experience.

Bryan Konietzko and Michael Dante Dimartino drew a lot from Eastern philosophy to construct the world of Avatar: The Last Airbender and Avatar: The Legend of Korra. While the former series played a host of tropes straight, the challenge for the sequel was to more or less what the first iteration of the show did while remaining fresh.
The Legend of Korra
While the creators leveled up the action of the series, they decided to make the villains a little more entrenched in the grey areas of morality, rather than having a clear-cut, mustache-twirling bad guy that was the Fire Nation tyrant Lord Ozai. The creators opened up about their thoughts on the matter, specifically with regards to one villain that the duo crafted that has “messed with” fans.
