Uh-oh, is there a Chicago Fire divorce in the future?! Unfortunately, it’s not something we can rule out completely. While Cruz (Joe Minoso) has thrived at work, including filling in as leader of Squad while Severide (Taylor Kinney) was away earlier this season (despite the conflict that arose upon the other firefighter’s return), his home life is a different story. Chloe (Kristen Gutoskie) wants them to go to couples therapy, but some of their troubles stem from things he can’t change about his work. In the May 15 episode, “Under Pressure,” their problems come to a head. “Cruz and Chloe will come to a big realization in episode 1212 about what’s been eating away at their relationship, and once they put this fine point on it, they’ll have to see if and how they can manage it,” executive producer Andrea Newman tells TV Insider. “They love each other,...

Sound the alarm! On this Wednesday’s Chicago Fire, Severide goes missing, along with one of the firehouse’s rigs, in the middle of the night. But the firefighter is far from absent during the thriller-esque episode (airing at 9/8c on NBC).
In fact, his portrayer Taylor Kinney has quite the Die Hard-like adventure as the mystery of who took the truck and what they want with it unfolds, showrunner Andrea Newman tells TVLine via email.

Chicago Fire has teased an intense episode focused on Kelly Severide coming up, and some spoilers have fleshed out the details.
Taylor Kinney returned during Chicago Fire Season 12 to continue playing the popular firefighter. He had gone on a leave of absence during Season 11, causing fans to worry he had left the show for good.
But Severide was back for the Season 12 premiere this winter, reuniting with his wife Stella Kidd (played by Miranda Rae Mayo).
Even though Severide still has an affinity for solving arons, he has committed to being more open about it with Kidd. The couple did have some stumbles earlier this season, but Stellaride appears to be on the same page now.
During one of the final episodes for Season 12, Severide will go missing again, but this time with one of the Firehouse 51 vehicles. What happened? We will soon find out.

Firehouse 51 has lost another one of its own. New Chicago Fire cast member Rome Flynn has exited the NBC drama after six episodes.

Flynn joined Chicago Fire at the beginning of season 12 as new recruit Derrick Gibson, an ex-boxer with a troubled past. He took a spot on Truck 81 previously occupied by Blake Gallo (Alberto Rosende), who left the show in the season premiere to move to Detroit.
Unfortunately, Gibson’s time at 51 was brief. As he eventually revealed to Carver (Jake Lockett), he’d embarked on a career as a firefighter after accidentally killing a man during a boxing match. But the trauma from that incident still haunted him. He was also abusing drugs in an attempt to cope with his mental health issues.

Flynn joined procedural at the beginning of Season 12 as Jake Gibson and appeared in six episodes. During the March 27 episode, it was revealed he was struggling with a prescription pill addiction and decided to leave to get help.

Chicago Fire introduced a new paramedic during the latest episode. It has already caused drama at Firehouse 51.
It was clear that things would get tricky after Sylvie Brett left the job, but the new Paramedic In Charge, Violet Mikami, couldn’t find a rhythm with the new person sitting next to her in Ambulance 61.
Wesam Keesh has joined the Chicago Fire cast as Jared Lennox. The character seems to know his stuff but also has a penitent for asking questions at the wrong time.
During one call, Lennox let the wife of their patient know that Violet was new to the job. It caused the woman to question Violet’s abilities.
Violet appeared very stressed that Lennox was undermining her, and when she chastised him about it later, she also told Lennox he had received his second strike on the job.

Dick Wolf is in for another busy season at NBC. No surprise here, the Peacock network has renewed “Chicago Med,” “Chicago Fire,” “Chicago P.D.,” “Law & Order” and “Law & Order: Svu” for the 2024-25 broadcast TV season. Among Dick Wolf scripted series, that leaves just “Law & Order: Organized Crime” on the bubble; a renewal for that show, which has experienced multiple showrunner changes in its short life, is still in discussion.
Among the shows, this will rep the 26th season of “Law & Order: SVU,” the 24th season of “Law & Order,” Season 13 for “Chicago Fire,” the 12th season for “Chicago PD” and the 10th season for “Chicago Med.” All of the renewed series are produced by Universal Studio Group’s Universal Television division, along with Wolf Entertainment, and all shows stream the following day on Peacock. NBC has renewed most — but not all — of the shows in its two biggest franchises for the 2024-25 season.
The network has ordered new seasons of all three of its Chicago dramas — Med, Fire and Pd — along with Law & Order and Law & Order: Svu. Notably missing from the list is Law & Order: Organized Crime, whose status is “still under discussion,” according to NBC. All six series come from Dick Wolf’s Wolf Entertainment and Universal Television.
Svu will add to its record as the longest-running primetime drama in American TV history with a 26th season in 2024-25, while Law & Order — which recently saw the departure of series fixture Sam Waterston — will air its 24th. Chicago Med will hit double digits with its 10th season, Fire will air its 13th and Pd its 12th.

It’s hard to imagine Ambulance 61 without Sylvie Brett (Kara Killmer) after she’s been a staple there since Season 3. But now, Chicago Fire, in its 12th season, is moving forward without her—in Killmer’s last episode, Brett married Casey (Jesse Spencer) and moved with him to Portland—and that means someone has to join Violet (Hanako Greensmith). A photo for the March 27 episode, “All the Dark,” shows Wesam Keesh as Lennox, working alongside Violet (check it out above), and Dick Wolf fans will recognize him: He played hacker Malachi on Law & Order: Organized Crime! Through Svu‘s crossovers with One Chicago, Fire and Organized Crime are technically in the same universe, but he’d be far from the first person to play multiple characters across Dick Wolf shows (or on the same one!). But is Lennox sticking around? As executive producer Andrea Newman told TV Insider ahead of Season 12’s premiere,...

Wedding bells ring in Kara Killmer’s final episode on Chicago Fire. A new promo for the Wednesday, February 28 episode features Matt (Jesse Spencer) and Sylvie’s (Kilmer) wedding in a fish store.
Along with good wishes for the happy couple are goodbyes for Kilmer’s Sylvie. It was revealed late last year that Killmer would be exiting the series in the 12th season.
In the promo for the “Port in the Storm” episode, Boden (Eamonn Walker) officiates the ceremony, telling Sylvie “No, matter how far you go, 51 will always be your home.” The video also shows Severide (Taylor Kinney) as Matt’s best man.
Per the description, in the episode, Firehouse 51 welcomes back some familiar faces and says goodbye to Sylvie. Violet scrambles to decorate Brett’s wedding venue. And a call at the expo center takes a shocking turn.

Uh-oh, there’s trouble coming to Ambulance 61 in Chicago Fire‘s next episode, airing February 21, after a one-week break. In “On the Hook,” Brett (Kara Killmer) and Violet’s (Hanako Greensmith) defibrillator malfunctions on a call, and they look for answers. The promo offers a look at just that. “There has to be an explanation for what went wrong,” Violet says. Boden (Eamonn Walker) warns Brett, “if this is human error…” but she knows that, as Paramedic in Charge, “I’m on the hook.” (Violet will take over as Pic once Brett leaves.) Watch the full video above. But remember: Promos can be misleading, to surprise viewers with a twist. Was Kelly Severide’s return to Chicago Fire only temporary?
In the Jan. 31 episode of the NBC drama, Taylor Kinney’s character was again pulled away from 51 due to an arson investigation. After his long absence during most of season 11, it’s definitely a little alarming to see Severide get sucked into another out-of-state case. So, is Chicago Fire setting the stage for Kinney’s permanent exit in season 12? Here’s what we know.

Shocking news has come from the Chicago Fire showrunner.
During a season of change, showrunner Andrea Newman has dropped another bomb.

Showrunner Andrea Newman recently weighed in on the show’s evolution.

A big storyline for Chicago Fire Season 12 is the wedding between Sylvie Brett and Matthew Casey.
Casey (played by Jesse Spencer) returned in the Chicago Fire Season 11 finale to help with a domestic terrorism case. He was on a task force due to the nature of the threats.
After returning to Chicago, Casey realized he wanted to spend the rest of his life with Brett (Kara Killmer). Casey popped the question as the season finale ended, but fans had to wait for an answer.
Chicago Fire Season 12 began with a six-month time jump. It required character conversations to bridge the gap in storylines that had been wrapped up.
Mouch survived his injuries, Stella Kidd tracked down and brought Kelly Severide back to Chicago, and Brett agreed to marry Casey.
Getting from that proposal to being married could be a difficult road, at least according to showrunner Andrea Newman.

Will 51 be down two firefighters after the Chicago Fire Season 12 premiere? It’s very possible. The NBC drama returns on January 17, and with that first episode, it has quite a bit to reveal, including whether Mouch (Christian Stolte) lived or died after an on-the-job shrapnel injury that saw him bleeding significantly at the hospital in the Season 11 finale and how Gallo will be written out in Alberto Rosende‘s last episode. Plus, another member of 51 is going to end up in a risky situation! When TV Insider spoke to executive producer Andrea Newman about Brett’s (Kara Killmer) departure and future with Casey (Jesse Spencer) as well as Severide’s (Taylor Kinney) return and relationship with Kidd (Miranda Ray Mayo), we also got the scoop on that and more. What can you say about Mouch and, whether he lives or dies, what kind of stories did that cliffhanger set you...

We can now rule out two things when it comes to Kara Killmer’s forthcoming exit from Chicago Fire: Wednesday’s Season 12 premiere (NBC, 9/8c) will not be the actress’ final episode, and her swan-song arc as Sylvie Brett will not go according to the paramedic’s plan.
Last we saw Brett, she was on the cusp of adopting baby Julia and was being proposed to by on-and-off ex-boyfriend Matt Casey (played by Jesse Spencer), who got down on bended knee, diamond ring in hand. “Sylvie Brett, we were meant to be. Will you make me and three kids...

“Severide’s got some big decisions to make” in Chicago Fire Season 12, executive producer Andrea Newman teases. Taylor Kinney is back full-time after taking a leave of absence last January, and “Severide is front and center of this season,” the EP tells TV Insider. He is going to have quite a bit to fix now that he’s back, even though six months have passed between seasons. First and foremost? His relationship with his wife, Kidd (Miranda Rae Mayo), who, as our exclusive trailer showed, “had to fly to Alabama, put [him] in handcuffs, and drag [him] home.” Ouch! “There’s a lot of fun to be had there, and within moments of the [season] starting, you’ll see that although the heat is definitely still there between them, there’s a whole new dynamic that’s been created because of that going Mia that Severide did and there’s some tension and edge between them,...

Chicago Fire Boss Previews Taylor Kinney’s Return: Severide’s Got Tension With More Than Just Stella
Chicago Fire fans will no doubt be happy to finally see Taylor Kinney back in next Wednesday’s Season 12 premiere (NBC, 9/8c), but Severide’s homecoming won’t be a smooth one.
After Kinney took a leave of absence last January to deal with a personal matter, his character departed for an arson investigation training program in Alabama, which led to him being recruited to help with an Atf investigation — something which he failed to mention to his wife Stella! In the Season 11 finale, Severide’s other half went to go bring her husband back home, and while it seems...

Season 12 of “Chicago Fire” may be a shortened season, but it’s going to be an emotional rollercoaster, according to executive producer Andrea Newman. In a new interview with Variety, Newman — who became the sole showrunner this season after previously serving as co-showrunner with Derek Haas — teased that the new season “really jumps out with a bang, literally.”
With both Alberto Rosende and Kara Killmer, who portray Blake Gallo and Sylvie Brett, respectively, exiting the series this year, and the return of Taylor Kinney’s Kelly Severide, nothing is off limits.
In the Season 11 finale, Casey (Jesse Spencer) proposed to Sylvie — who is wearing a ring in the below photo, for what it’s worth — Kidd (Miranda Rae Mayo) left town to go find her husband and Mouch (Christian Stolte) was left bleeding out in the hospital after being hit by shrapnel during a call. Season 12, premiering on Jan. 17 at 9 p.

“What? I don’t know what you’re talking about,” Chicago Fire executive producer Andrea Newman jokes when asked about that ring we can see on paramedic Sylvie Brett‘s (Kara Killmer) finger in the Season 12 premiere photos. Last spring’s finale ended with her ex-boyfriend, firefighter Matt Casey (Jesse Spencer), in town visiting as Brett was trying to move the pieces into place to adopt a baby she met on a call, proposing. “I got something about a year and a half ago, and I wanted to give it to you before I go back to Portland,” he said before getting down on one knee. “Sylvie Brett, we were meant to be. Will you make me and three kids the luckiest family in the world and marry me?” Well, it looks like her answer is yes! But Newman cautions us not to get too excited. “When we see Brett in the premiere,...

Eight of Wolf Entertainment/Universal Television writers rooms are opening this week following the end of the writers strike. Additionally, two new showrunners have been named: “Chicago Fire” Season 12 will be run by Andrea Newman, formerly co-showrunner with Derek Haas; and “FBI: International” Season 3 will be run by executive producer Matt Olmstead.
Haas, who co-created “Chicago Fire,” was the previous showrunner of “FBI: International” as well. He exited Wolf Entertainment last November after 10 years.
