As with any time I try to explain a massive figure in Indian film to the uninitiated, the temptation rises quickly to compare director Sanjay Leela Bhansali to someone in Hollywood.
And, as with any time I actually make these comparisons, everything falls short. Bhansali depicts spectacle evocative of the work of Baz Luhrmann, but even that is a pale imitation (no disrespect to either). There is no one literally anywhere in the world creating cinema with the scale and grandeur that Bhansali has cultivated as his signature, a style so distinct that his own peers pay homage to it while he’s still alive and working.
But at the top of IndieWire’s conversation about Bhansali’s career, he’s quick to shake the larger-than-life visual splendor of his creations, emphasizing — as writer, director and producer, among his many hats — that the stories themselves evoke that scope.

Salman Khan Once Compared Working Styles Of Sooraj Barjatya & Sanjay Leela Bhansali ( Photo Credit – Instagram )
Salman Khan and Sanjay Leela Bhansali have worked in three films together – Khamoshi, Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam & Saawariya. They were supposed to work on three more films together – Padmavati, Bajirao Mastani, and Inshallah. The first two did not happen after Aishwarya Rai moved out of Salman’s life, and the last did not happen because Salman and Bhansali had creative differences.
Bhai and Bhansali share a love-hate relationship. They have always been vocal about each other’s strengths and weaknesses as well. It was once that the Sultan superstar commented on Bhansali’s harsh and rude way on sets and compared it to another filmmaker, Sooraj Barjatya.
In an interview with Rajshri Films, Salman Khan compared the working styles of Sooraj Barjatya and Sanjay Leela Bhansali, and he revealed how he once suggested the...

Ranveer Singh Replaces Shah Rukh Khan For The 4th Time In Rajinikanth’s Thalaivar 171
Speculations have been rife that after Shah Rukh Khan turned down Lokesh Kanagaraj’s film with Rajinikanth, called Thalaivar 171, the Leo director has approached Ranveer Singh for the extended cameo which surprisingly leaves us with a very valid question – Has Ranveer become Srk’s replacement in the industry?
Well, definitely, he was Salman Khan’s replacement earlier, as he replaced Bhai in Bajirao Mastani and Padmaavat as well. The Gunday actor even replaced Ranbir Kapoor in Dil Dhadakne Do, and while he has been the go-to actor for the past few years, his success has definitely been a testimony to the fact that these replacements have not gone wrong.
According to a Pinkvilla report, while Shah Rukh Khan was approached by Lokesh Kanagaraj for an extended cameo in Rajinikanth’s upcoming film, Srk politely passed the offer.
