Isn't it time the Doctor and Clara welcomed another companion on board the Tardis in Doctor Who series 9? Mark has a few ideas as to who...
Following Jenna Coleman's much-publicised wobble over whether or not to leave Doctor Who in 2014, we've had confirmation that Clara Oswald will be around for this year's series after all. This will make Clara the Doctor's longest-serving companion since the new series began and, indeed, since Janet Fielding's similarly on-off Tegan, back when Peter Davison was the Doctor.
Like Tegan, Clara's had a couple of near-miss exits during her travels already - first, the bittersweet ending of Death In Heaven and the fake-out at the end of Last Christmas. In both cases, she and the Doctor got a reprieve from Nick Frost's Santa, in such a way that when she does eventually leave, we'll all be looking for him to pop out...

Energy wars? Time-traveling murderers? Castle and Beckett have three children?
"Castle" went a little bit nuts -- in the best possible way -- for its time-travel episode, "Time Will Tell." Guest-starring Joshua Gomez ("Chuck") as either a future cop or an obsessed nutjob, the police have to stop a scary murderer before more people die.
Depending on who you believe in this one, the eventual death toll would be either three or billions. It's awesome either way.
"Lot of weirdos out there with too much imagination."
From its first moments, this is an odd "Castle." A young woman is found tortured and killed. Although the woman, Shauna, was a parole officer, none of her ex-cons are likely suspects. The only person of interest is an unidentified crazy guy in a hoodie.
That would be "Simon Doyle" (Gomez). When questioned, Doyle admits to stalking Shauna before her death but only because...

I hope and pray there is a serious overlap between fans of Chuck and Castle, otherwise I don’t know if anyone will appreciate this bit of casting news. Joshua Gomez, known to us Chuck fans as Morgan Grimes, will be guest starring in Castle’s sixth season and will be bringing a little wackiness to the show that only a Chuck alum could. I love this guy to death – he was one of my favorite parts of what made Chuck so enjoyable for five seasons – and I’m so stoked to see him work alongside Nathan Fillion and Stana Katic, but not nearly as stoked as I am for the character he’ll be playing.
According to EW, Gomez will appear in Episode 5 as a suspect in a grisly murder. His character claims to have traveled back in time in order to prevent terrible events from occurring that would...

Is "Castle" bringing a "Chuck" star back to the future? Joshua Gomez, who played the main character's bearded sidekick on five years of "Chuck," will guest star in the fifth episode of "Castle" Season 6.
Oddly, he's claiming to be a time traveler in that episode.
According to EW.com, Gomez will play a murder suspect who claims to have traveled into the past in order to stop some terrible event from occurring. The police, however, think that he is just a murderer.
Is the man crazy? Or did -- as Castle (Nathan Fillion) will undoubtedly think -- actually travel through time?
This isn't the first time that an actor from "Chuck" has shown up on "Castle." Adam Baldwin, who played John Casey on "Chuck," reunited with his "Firefly" co-star Fillion on a 2012 episode of the police procedural. Bonita Friedericy, General Beckman on the spy comedy, also guest-starred on "Castle," playing a nun.

It’s safe to say Castle and Beckett have never encountered a suspect-of-the-week quite like this.
EW has learned exclusively that Joshua Gomez (Morgan from Chuck!) has been recruited to guest star as a suspect in a grisly murder who claims to have traveled back in time to stop terrible events from unfolding — events that will change the course of human history. Yes, to answer the question you’re thinking, there’s a chance this man is simply a deluded killer. Or maybe not…

Chuck star Yvonne Strahovski is many things. Beautiful. Sexy. Quite convincing as a butt-kicking secret agent.
But she is not an easy cry.
Until, that is, she began nearing the very end of her days as Sarah Walker. “[Yvonne] is always a little bit tough, and she kept her cool…,” costar Joshua Gomez shared with reporters during a finale-time visit to the Chuck set. “And then all of the sudden, she was like, ‘Gomez, I can’t stop!’”
“I cried this whole [final] month,” Strahovski herself admitted. “I’ve just been crying, every single day. I [even] cried when i did my last fight scene ever.

Previously on Zap2it's "Chuck" finale countdown, we spoke with Yvonne Strahovski and Adam Baldwin and the members of Jeffster! as they filmed the show's last episode. Up next: Morgan Guillermo Grimes himself, Joshua Gomez.
The prevailing theme during "Chuck's" final days of filming was, not surprisingly, the emotions the cast and crew were feeling at the end of their five-season run together. Joshua Gomez says the waves of feeling started even before that.

Danny Pudi's secret role on "Chuck" is no longer so secret.
NBC has released a couple pictures of the "Community" star's guest role in Friday's (Dec. 9) episode, and as you can see by the uniform, he's playing a member of the Nerd Herd. And he's apparently pretty chummy with Morgan (Joshua Gomez) and the still-sober, hair-in-place Jeff (Scott Krinsky).
Missing from that picture, of course, is the Buy More's other full-time Nerd Herder, Lester (Vik Sahay). Jeff had him arrested at the end of "Chuck vs. the Business Trip," and he's still in the custody -- although judging by the array of wires in the background, it looks more like he's incarcerated in the Buy More storage cage than in an actual jail cell.
We have to think that Pudi's character being at the store has something to do with Lester being indisposed -- and we also have...

"Chuck" hit its final-season stride last week with an episode that brought the Morgan-as-Intersect story to a head and felt like the most assured episode of the season thus far.
This week, "Chuck vs. the Business Trip" upped the bar in just about every way. A solid mission -- accomplished with no one having the Intersect -- good couple dynamics between Chuck and Sarah, fine comedy from the team of Gomez & Baldwin, solid non-spy subplots and a big bang of an ending all clicked together expertly.
Things pick up right where they left off, with Morgan narrowly avoiding death thanks to Chuck (let's all pour one out for his douche-cycle, shall we?). They then get the Intersect out of Morgan's head, figuring that once he's back to normal, Decker -- it was him who put the hit out -- will call off the kill order.
Except ... no. In addition to all his CIA hitters,...

"Chuck" is trying to cover a lot of ground in the 13 episodes it has for its final season, and because the season is short a lot of people were wondering why the show would choose to begin the season with Morgan having the Intersect.
I submit that "Chuck vs. the Frosted Tips" is why. It's easily the best of the first three episodes that have aired in Season 5, and it pays off the Morgan-Intersect story in a way that also makes the logic of the previous two hours easier to understand, while giving us a deeper exploration of Chuck and Morgan's relationship than we've had in some time.
And we'll get to that in a minute. First, we have got to talk about the sexiest fight/foreplay scene on television in recent memory, between Casey and Gertrude Verbanski.
We saw a little bit last week of the very un-Casey-like feelings...

The Morgan-as-Intersect storyline on "Chuck" has been, to judge by online opinion-sharing, a love-it-or-hate-it proposition over the first two episodes of the season.
The man at the center of the story gets it. Joshua Gomez knows what it's like to be a fan of something and watch it change gears -- but he also says the current story is not what viewers will be watching for the entirety of the final season.
"I was nervous at first, for many reasons. [Morgan] just getting the Intersect was such a crazy turn, and something I wasn't expecting," Gomez says. "And as I started to get the scripts and saw the character becoming what he's becoming and saw how it was affecting him, it was nerve-wracking. Our fans are really loyal, and they love Chuck, and I'm like, 'Oh crap. I'm gonna get things thrown at me for being a jerk.'"

Chuck Review, Season 5, Episode 1, “Chuck Versus the Zoom”
Written by Chris Fedak and Nicholas Wootton
Directed by Robert Duncan McNeill
Airs Fridays at 8pm (Et) on NBC
Chuck’s season premieres sometimes feel rushed because they’re dealing with cliffhangers from the previous year while beginning a new story. For the fifth season opener, the changes are huge and could raise questions about whether the show can still work. Within a few minutes, it’s clear that the fun remains, despite any cosmetic changes. Luke Skywalker himself (Mark Hamill) appears as a silly gangster with a ridiculous accent for the opening scene. He’s nearly unrecognizable at first glance, but he still has the glint in his eye of the young farm boy from Tatooine. His appearance is far too brief, but having Luke onboard tells us that everything’s going to be okay for this light-hearted series.

"Chuck" launches its fifth and likely last season on Friday, Oct. 28, on NBC -- right across from the final game of the World Series, airing on Fox.
On Thursday night, series creator Josh Schwartz tweeted, "The plan is still to premiere Chuck Season 5 tomorrow night. yes, versus Game 7. No, we wouldn't have it any other way."
As Schwartz intimated, this is nothing new for hard-luck "Chuck," a lighthearted espionage comedy-drama that has endured more than one nail-biter on its rocky path to a 13-episode fifth season.
Things are different for the last go-round. Super-spy Chuck Bartowski (Zachary Levi) is finally wed to his dream girl and spy partner, Sarah (Yvonne Strahovski). With a new fortune in their possession, they and fellow spy John Casey (Adam Baldwin), have won their independence from the CIA and gone freelance.

Chicago – There have been a number of casualties of the debacle of “The Jay Leno Show” but one has to believe that were NBC not in such dire straits when it comes to ratings (an increasingly depressing situation for the network with new lows nearly every week) that “Chuck” would have been canceled years ago. The program has been on “bubble watch” since its first season, when it dipped below 60th place in the weekly ratings. And yet here we are, reviewing the fifth-season premiere of the show that simply wouldn’t die.
Television Rating: 3.0/5.0
After another round of “They haven’t canceled Chuck yet?” this Spring, NBC announced that they were bringing the program back for a fifth season and final season. Fans can look at it as a victory lap, closure on the show they’ve loved since its acclaimed premiere in the Fall of 2007. Detractors can point...

Selena Gomez will star in Hot Mess for Endgame Entertainment. The film offers three more fantastic roles for young actresses: it's about four friends who do everything they can to avoid transforming into the "hot messes" they are destined to become. Directing is Dave Myers (The Hitcher) who is behind music videos for Pink, Jennifer Lopez, Britney Spears and the "Firework" vid for Katy Perry. The script by Jenni Ross was on The Black List, the annual list of the best unproduced movie scripts.
Gomez will next be seen in The Muppets.

Girl problems? Endgame Entertainment is negotiations with actress Selena Gomez to star in the comedy “Hot Mess.” Director Dave Meyers is also in talks to helm the project. The film is about “four girlfriends make, and then break, a list of rules devised to get the guys of their dreams and discover their inner hot messes in the process.” Deadline also mentioned other young actresses are currently being considered for the other female roles. The script is written by Jenni Ross, which is on the 2010’s Black List screenplays. Endgame’s James D. Stern and Julie Goldstein are producing the project with Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas and Marisa Yeres. Franklin Leonard’s “Black List” has become pretty infamous over the years. It’s his yearly compilation of all of the best scripts that are floating around Hollywood and not being produced. Often times, appearing on this list can be the difference between a script that keeps getting passed from hand to hand without really being read and a script that gets an actual look from a studio and starts to get some money behind it. Some of the movies that appeared on the 2010 list that are now in various states of development include Margin Call, Argo, Gangster Squad, and The Hunger Games, among others. Now there’s one more script to be added to the pile of Black List greenlights; Jenni Ross’s Hot Mess. Leonard’s description of Hot Mess is as follows, “Four girlfriends make, and then break, a list of rules devised to get the guys of their dreams and discover their inner...

Mickey minion Selena Gomez may keep a busy schedule acting, singing and babysitting dating Justin Bieber, but like any respectable woman, that still leaves her plenty of time to channel her inner emotional disaster.
The teen queen, who recently finished filming "The Muppets" movie, is in talks to star in female buddy comedy "Hot Mess," written by Jenni Ross.
The coming-of-age story follows the lives of four friends trying to sort out their romantic lives while avoiding what they believe are inevitable transitions into – you guessed it – hot messes.
The script, which earned a spot on the 2010 Black List, may soon have a director attached to it as well. Deadline reports that "The Hitcher" director Dave Meyers, best known for his music video work, including Jay-z's "Dirt Off Your Shoulder" and Missy Elliot's Grammy-winning "Lose Control," is in talks to direct.

NBC is offering up the first look at Season 5 of "Chuck" in the form of some cast pictures, and a couple things strike us.
First, there's not a stitch of Buy More green in any of the photos, which is probably a relief to Adam Baldwin and Joshua Gomez. (The Buy More will still be part of the show, but we're guessing Casey and Morgan won't spend as much time on the sales floor.) And second, the team seems to take rather well to suiting up.
Oh, and also? Guns. Lots of guns in Castle. (See the first two pics below.)
The first batch of pictures focuses solely on the spy team -- Zachary Levi, Yvonne Strahovski, Baldwin and Gomez -- so we'll have to wait to see new shots of Ellie (Sarah Lancaster), Awesome (Ryan McPartlin) and the rest of the Buy More crew.
Take a look at each of their individual pics,...

Chuck star Joshua Gomez has revealed new details about the fifth and final season. In the NBC comedy-drama's fourth season finale, Morgan (Gomez) accidentally uploaded the new Intersect into his brain. Gomez told Entertainment Weekly: "There's that whole growing process for Morgan as the intersect, and like what happened with Chuck, we don't know exactly what effect it's going to have. It obviously doesn't... work in everyone's brain the same way." Gomez added that the Intersect could "go a little haywire" under the control of the inexperienced Morgan. "I don't (more)...

At the end of last season, Morgan (Joshua Gomez) became the new Intersect, and while it’s been said that Chuck will become a mentor of sorts, there’s also tough times ahead for Chuck’s Bff.
“There’s that whole growing process for Morgan as the intersect, and like what happened with Chuck, we don’t know exactly what effect it’s going to have,” Gomez told EW during the Television Critics Association press tour. “It, obviously, doesn’t run and work in everyone’s brain the same way. The potential is there for it to go a little haywire.
