The executive vp and general manager of Turner Classic Movies, Pola Changnon, has opted to exit Warner Bros. Discovery.
Changnon has led TCM since 2020, but has been with the company for more than 25 years. She announced her decision to leave the company in a memo to TCM staff Tuesday.
In another note to staff Tuesday, Wbd TV networks chief content officer chief Kathleen Finch said that Michael Ouweleen, the president of Adult Swim, Cartoon Network, Discovery Family and Boomerang, will assume oversight of TCM. Ouweleen previously ran TCM.
Ouweleen will segue to the new position in the summer after serving as interim head of Warners’ kids, young adults and classics division, which included oversight of Adult Swim, Cartoon Network and Boomerang. Ouweleen had held the interim post since November, when 15-year Warner Media staffer Christina Miller announced her departure. She previously oversaw all three brands as well as Turner Classic Movies.

Animated comedies Birdgirl and Smiling Friends will get another go at Adult Swim, which has renewed both series for second seasons.
Birdgirl, a spinoff of Adult Swim’s Harvey Birdman franchise, is a half-hour animated comedy series starring Paget Brewster. Season one followed Brewster’s Judy Ken Sebben aka Birdgirl who, after being named CEO of the world’s largest and most non-sensical corporation, Sebben & Sebben; has to find a way to maintain her work/superhero life balance.
In Season 2 of Birdgirl the Birdteam is back and still not learning from their mistakes. Judy Ken Sebben and the Birdteam attempt to navigate the troubles of modern corporations, tackling everything from ethics in new tech, to cancel culture and rejuvenating skin sack health fads. Will they fail? Spectacularly! But sometimes it’s not about the solutions we come up with, it’s about the new problems we make along the way.

Jason Kilar sat in a darkened conference room in 2007, telling anyone who came to visit about the wonders of a new video-on-demand service called Hulu. Kilar was the outlet’s first CEO, and the room in which he was perched stood in the headquarters of NBCUniversal, one of Hulu’s two original co-owners. Another worker in that building was Jeff Zucker, then the CEO of NBCU, and someone who helped spur Kilar’s early journey.
Now it is Kilar who may have influence on Zucker’s future steps.
After losing the NBCU job once Comcast took control of that company, Zucker has blazed a new path for himself as president of WarnerMedia’s CNN. Since taking the reins of the venerable cable-news outlet in 2013, Zucker has given the once-vanilla dispenser of breaking news an entirely new image and mission. Larry King, who held forth at 9 p.m. on CNN for...
