BERLIN -- In a bid to broaden the appeal of the multiplex, Germany's leading exhibitor and the country's largest book club are teaming up for a film and literary tribute to composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. To celebrate the 250th anniversary of Mozart's birth, exhibitor CineStar and Club Bertelsmann are joining forces for Mostly Mozart Night, a series of book readings and film screenings to be held in CineStar theaters from Frankfurt to Berlin. The events, the first of which will take place in CineStar's Metropolis theater in Frankfurt, Jan. 25, will feature readings from two new books on the composer: Piero Melograni's biography Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Mozart. His Life and Times from famed German historian Brigitte Hamann. The readings will be followed by screenings of the director's cut of Milos Forman's multi-Oscar winner Amadeus.
