From a filmmaking standpoint, you can’t help but admire the cojones it took to attempt Proxy. Running at a long-winded two hours, writers Kevin Donner and (director) Zack Parker cram surprise after surprise into a dramatic revenge thriller that starts simply as a young mother’s horror story. Nothing is Ever as it seems though, as two different movies are shown through each hour, divided halfway by a cataclysmic event Parker could have just as easily ended Proxy with. Shifting gears faster than Vin Diesel in The Fast And Furious, blind ambition takes Parker as far as it can, but a faltering execution downplays dark, genuinely confounding storytelling that movies just won’t risk on today’s audiences. What a shame, because Parker gains brownie points by shoving Hollywood normalcy straight back into The Man’s face – there’s just a lack of “walking the walk” after “talking the talk.

Chicago – After realizing that “Human Target” was not going to be their next “24,” Fox has moved the program to Friday nights, starting November 17th, where it could easily reside as a guilty pleasure for years to come. The program is a throwback to the action series escapism of the 1980s but with modern production values that make it a very-enjoyable thrill ride in HD. It’s not going to win awards or change the TV landscape, but it works on its own terms.
Television Rating: 3.5/5.0
The massively charming Mark Valley (“Fringe”) stars as Christopher Chance aka The Human Target, a minor character from the world of comic books. The Human Target is not your average superhero. He wears no cape and has no superpowers. Unless you count an apparent complete lack of fear as a superpower. Chance is a hired gun, a human shield who does whatever it takes to protect his assignment.

Founded in 2003, Italy’s Dope Stars Inc. is a unique band. Their sound embodies the illegitimate offspring of 80’s Metal pioneer Don Dokken and an abused synthesizer that might press charges. Beginning with their self-released Ep, 10.000 Watts Of Artificial Pleasures, Dsi has created a sound unlike anything existent in the Ebm/Goth-Industrial scene. With the addition of Neuromance in 2005, and Gigahearts in 2006, they’ve further reinforced the niche they’re creating through their music. Now, after saving up their collective mojo while touring with tremendous acts (such as Apoptygma Berzerk, Nightwish, and Combichrist), and creating three songs for the Saw soundtracks, it’s plainly obvious that Dsi has every intention of becoming a force to reckon with. Suffice to say, they’re well on their way as can be heard on the new Ep release, Criminal Intents/Morning Star.
