Luisa Sonza is giving her third album Escândalo Íntimo another life. On Tuesday, Sonza added four previously unreleased songs to the LP, including a reimagined version of 1972’s “You Don’t Know Me” with Brazilian legend Caetano Veloso himself.
“It was so exciting to record one of my songs with Luísa Sonza, who is such a brilliant figure of the new generation,” Veloso said in a press release. The video for the track follows a pensive Sonza singing along to the track while riding in the back of a moving truck.

After spending nearly a decade generating buzz with mixtapes and singles, Bad Gyal is ready for her next big move. At the beginning of the year, the Barcelona-based star released her debut album La Joia, which is Catalan for the “The Jewel.” On the adventurous LP, she explored genres like dancehall, reggaeton, Brazilian funk, and house music while subverting the male-dominated urbano space with big femme energy.

Once a rapidly growing Latin American economy, and fertile ground for influential indie pop and neoperreo movements, Chile has become the center of socio-political discord that’s swept the region over the last several years. Their goals: dismantle the neoliberal policies of the Seventies that fostered staggering income inequality, abandon the archaic Pinochet-era constitution, and draft a new magna carta to codify institutional gender parity...

Fresh off the success of her third studio album, Red Moon in Venus, and a sold-out tour, Kali Uchis is back with more dates and more new music.
Featuring Dominican dembow singer El Alfa and City Girls’ Jt, “Muñekita” is a grooving track with a fairly standard, irresistibly-dancey reggaeton beat (though Uchis has posted online that the album will not be primarily in the reggaeton style). Still, the single marks the onset of “a new era of Spanish-language music” for Uchis, according to the press release.
For her part, Uchis explained how excited she was to work with El Alfa and Jt. She first connected with the artists via DMs, and the collaboration was born out of the three’s mutual admiration. “I love bringing artists together that you’d least expect,” Uchis said in a statement. “El Alfa is a Latino legend and Jt is someone I’ve admired forever.

Christian Chávez has always been one of the most colorful members of Rbd. Throughout his original tenure in the Mexican pop group in the early 2000s, he sported practically all the colors of the rainbow in his hair, and he later came out as gay shortly before the group split in 2009. Now, Chávez is excited to be reuniting with his bandmates for an Rbd world tour, which kicks off in the US this summer.

After a few weeks of teasing new music on social media, the living reggaeton legend finally dropped his latest track, called “La Receta.” While he’s often remembered as a conscious rapper who proudly and artfully weaved themes of race, class, history, and social justice into his rhymes, he has always had time to raise the temperature on the dance floor with some of the most high-energy hits in the genre.

As the rap sound continues to make waves across the globe - often far from the Black communities that birthed it - a young artist is emerging in the international scene, who is using the genre as a platform to speak up for her community. J Noa, a 17-year-old Dominicana from the San Cristóbal region, was recently signed to Sony Music Entertainment. Calling herself "La Hija del Rap," she's rising in the scene as an artist with a style that is reminiscent of the genre's rebellious beginnings, all while adding her own fresh take, her native Spanish language, and authentic flow to the mix.

On Sunday night, Madonna appeared at the Grammy Awards wearing an outsized black tuxedo, her eyebrows bleached platinum blonde and her cheeks plumped and smooth. Everyone lost it. Here’s a sampling of responses from Twitter: “Looks like she had a face transplant”; “Madonna received the ‘New Face’ award at the 2023 Grammy Awards!”; “Not the Madonna I remember.” By Monday morning, numerous news outlets had dubbed Madonna “unrecognisable” and were busy ringing up plastic surgeons to ask their opinions on a woman they’d never actually treated.
That the reaction has been entirely critical of the 64-year-old pop icon is unsurprising – Madonna has long been a punching bag for the apparent crimes of not being young, publicly expressing her sexuality and not looking the same as she did half a century ago when she first became famous. This is no exaggeration. In 1993, a Smash Hits magazine spread printed the words “Calm down Grandma!

One of the most common struggles music artists face once they sign to a label is being able to call the shots. The Latin music industry had another massive year in 2022, seeing a 35 percent growth in revenue, according to the RIAA. That momentum shows no signs of slowing down as artists like Bad Bunny and Karol G continue topping the charts and selling out massive tours — and there are even more rising stars right at their heels, ready to take the music even farther.
2022 had plenty of breakout acts from across Latin America and the diaspora. Uncompromising and unapologetically honest artists such as Tokischa and Villano Antillano saw massive success, while rappers...

The diss track is ubiquitous in music, and it’s an especially common fixture in reggaeton. The genre, which flourished in Puerto Rico’s underground in the Nineties, drew heavily on hip hop and dancehall, two genres in which feuds between artists and crews erupt regularly. In reggaeton, those influences, along with the realities of organized crime lurking around the industry, gave rise to the tiraera (call it “tiradera” at your own risk). A slang term for diss tracks, tiraeras became almost like a rite of passage for artists who...

It’s Up for Cardi B and Madonna! On Sunday, the 30-year-old rapper shared that she and the “Material Girl” singer made amends following a little bit of social media shade.
Over the weekend, Madonna took to her Instagram Story to celebrate the 30-year anniversary of her book S.E.X. In the process of celebrating, the 64-year-old called out those who held double standards against her for being outspoken about her sexuality at the time.
“Thirty years ago I published a book called S.E.X. in addition to photos of me naked. There were photos of men kissing men, woman [sic] kissing woman, and me kissing everyone,” the “Like a Prayer” singer began her statement. “I also wrote about my sexual fantasies and shared my point of view about sexuality in an ironic way. I spent the next few years being interviewed by narrow-minded people who tried to shame me for empowering myself as a woman.

Queen of pop Madonna seemingly came out as gay in a playful video posted to TikTok.
The 64-year-old put her spin on a new viral trend by attempting to throw a pair of bright pink underwear into the trash can and purposely missing, reports pagesix.com.
“If I miss, I’m Gay,” text over the video read.
The “Material Girl’ singer, who was rocking a cream-coloured corset over a white tee with matching pants and pink hair, seemed to accept the outcome, staring into the camera while proudly throwing one arm into the air.
However, the video has left many fans confused, with some questioning whether Madonna was just jumping on the trend for fun or was serious about coming out.
“What in the 80s is happening,” one fan asked, with another adding, “Did Madonna just come out? And I’m witnessing it in real time??”

Madonna made a splash online when she made a reference to being gay in a Tik Tok video.
While this could be considered her official “coming out,” many of her fans know that Madonna has always spoken frankly about being sexually active and alluded to being gay or bisexual in plenty of past interviews.
The video shows Madonna holding a pair of hot-pink underwear, with the red text, “If I Miss, I’m Gay!” She, of course, missed the shot, before looking at camera once more.

It was a pretty innocuous Tik Tok, but excited some people who weren’t already aware how famous Madonna was for kissing Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera onstage, and her one quote where she said “everybody has a bisexual nature,” in a 1991 interview with The Advocate.
She has also been rumored to be in a relationship with the Dominican rapper Tokischa.

Madonna has seemingly come out. In a new video shared to TikTok Sunday, the pop icon implied that she’s gay.
Jumping on the back of a new TikTok trend, a pink-haired Madonna aimed to throw a pair of fuchsia underwear in the garbage. The words “If I miss, I’m Gay,” flashed across the screen as the 64-year-old singer threw and failed to sink the underwear into the open garbage can. She then threw her hands up in acceptance and playfully turned away from the camera, hand on hip.
The video came with no caption, but plenty of comments, with fans and followers of the “Material Girl” singer praising her for seemingly coming out.
“Did I just witness Madonna coming out, good for her,” one fan wrote, while another commented, “Welcome.”

An extravagant tapestry of slick Afro-Latin pop, Ozuna’s much anticipated fifth album ‘Ozutochi’ delivers more of the laid-back grooves and nocturnal hooks that made the Puerto Rican vocalist’s ascent to global stardom look like a natural consequence.
This sprawling 18-track collection has a luxurious, tropical-flower-in-bloom feel. It’s a poignant, occasionally adolescent, love letter to the transformational beauty of reggaetón, mapping the genre’s odyssey from underground movement to international juggernaut. If, by now, you’re understandably suffering from the occasional bout of reggaetón fatigue, Ozuna wants to remedy that.

Dominican rapper Tokischa has opened up about her relationship with singer Madonna.
In a new interview, the 26-year-old rapper, who teamed up with the Queen of Pop for remix single ‘Hung Up on Tokischa’, said to have felt an “instant connection” when kissing the 64-year-old singer, reports aceshowbiz.com.
Tokischa also explained that although locking lips was a natural occurrence between them, there is nothing “sexual” about their bond.
Speaking on “Ebro in the Morning”, she said: “As soon as we met, like, because it’s Madonna, you know, it’s somebody that’s been expressing herself her entire life, not caring.” She added, “That’s actually what I do, too.”
“It was instant, we connected right away. We were doing this together and rehearsing for the show and talking all the time, so we got really close.”

Kanessa Tixe, a Queens-born and -raised girl with Dominican and Colombian roots, is behind some of today's hottest Latinx music artists, including Maluma, Nicky Jam, and Tokischa. The talented publicist plays a significant role in their success. But the road to getting here certainly hasn't been easy.
Tixe started her career in public relations at just 17 years old. While many teens go to college trying to figure out what they want to do, she quickly discovered her passion with her first job at City Hall. At 21, she began working for actor Robert De Niro and the Tribeca Film Festival, where she was thrown into the world of entertainment and realized this was the career path she wanted to follow. Tixe noticed that companies were developing interest in targeting Latinx communities but quickly realized they didn't exactly know how to market talent looking to cross over into the American market.

Tokischa is dembow's renaissance woman. In a short amount of time, her message of liberation has left a mark on the music industry. While she has always been an artist, Tokischa fell in love with music while doing a photoshoot for a magazine, where she met producer Raymi Paulus. Palaus asked her to step into the studio, and Tokischa recorded her first song. "Since I [could remember], I wanted to do art. Dancing, acting, writing, drawing, fashion - everything related to art. I was always learning and always seeking that world," Tokischa tells Popsugar.

When Romeo Santos became the first Latino artist to sell out two consecutive shows at Yankees Stadium in 2014, it was clear he was a force to be reckoned with. Starting with his teenage days in the New York City-based band Aventura, the singer’s youthful falsetto and seductive flow has helped bring the decades-old Dominican style to soaring new heights over the years. The genre, which has roots in Afro-Dominican barrios, has been derided by the nation’s elites in the past, but Santos became a sensation and brought the...

Bad Bunny fans have come to the rapper’s defence after his VMAs kiss prompted queerbating accusations.
During MTV’s Video Music Awards on Sunday (28 August), the 28-year-old Puerto Rican rapper – who won the Album of the Year Award – kissed one of his male dancers while performing his hit song “Tití Me Preguntó”.
Despite the moment receiving a fair amount of praise, some Twitter fans weren’t happy with the display of affection, accusing Bad Bunny of queerbaiting.
“Queerbaiting. Just to be ‘different,’” one wrote, with another adding: “Then went back to his girlfriend. Like please leave us alone.”
While Bad Bunny – real name Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio – has maintained an image as a gender-bending artist, he has been in a relationship with jewellery designer Gabriela Berlingeri for the past five years.
However, others were quick to argue back, with one calling the moment “monumental”, before adding in context, explaining...

Things start creepy, then get hella sexy in this one. On Friday, Tokischa released the video for her over-the-top explicit (we’re used to it at this point and love her for it) video for “Delincuente,” which features fellow reggaetoneros Anuel AA and Ñengo Flow.
