In 1970, they beat out Led Zeppelin for Best New Artist at the Grammy Awards.
Prior to Neil Young joining, the existing trio of Crosby, Stills and Nash considered bringing in either Steve Winwood or Eric Clapton to help fill out the sound onstage. Ironically, Winwood and Clapton would later form their own supergroup; the ill fated Blind Faith.
The band's second gig as a foursome was at the "Woodstock Rock Festival" in Bethel, New York (August 18, 1969).
