A variety performer of over fifty years' experience who is a very
strong trumpet player, and could arguably hold her own against many
working male trumpet players in terms of strength tone and
range.
Often regarded to be Britain's foremost female trumpeter.
Respected for her immense professionalism in the variety
theatre.
Spent many years touring the infamous Moss Empires circuit.
Up until relatively recently, she was the only female trumpeter in the
world to have broadcast the famous Haydn Trumpet Concerto, when she
famously broadcast it with the BBC Concert Orchestra in 1951.
In 2003 she received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Music Hall
Society of Great Britain, following in the footsteps of Dame Vera Lynn
and Sir Norman Wisdom.
