Carrie Robbins, whose more than 30 years as a Broadway costume designer saw her involvement in 1972’s Grease, for which she contributed the production’s signature poodle skirts, and the nuns’ habits of 1983’s Agnes of God, died following a brief illness with Covid on Friday, April 12, at Mt. Sinai Hospital in Manhattan. She was 81.
Her death was announced by her friend Daniel Neiden.
Robbin’s Broadway career began somewhat inauspiciously with Leda and the Little Swan, a play that closed on Broadway before its scheduled opening at the Cort Theatre in 1968. Written by Amber Gascoigne and dealing with sex between generations of one family, Leda was called by William Goldman in his classic theater book The Season: A Candid Look at Broadway “the hardest show of the season to sit through.”

Scooby-Doo and the Mystery Inc. are now into their fifth wild and frightful decade of adventure. Over the years, Scooby-Doo has embarked on some truly bizarre team-ups with characters from the DC Universe, creating some of the most unexpected and entertaining crossovers in animation history.
This isn’t an odd thing – as the likes of Batman: The Animated Series also used to get cameos of its characters in various shows. Similarly, the gang also used to appear in various setups in live action, whether it be the DC Universe, the Star Wars Universe, or even a crossover with real-life superstars, such as WWE athletes, and Hollywood actors.
The Scooby-Doo Gang 1. John Cena – Scooby-Doo! WrestleMania Mystery
Barely scratching the surface of their appeal, they proved their wide-ranging appeal when in 2014 they released, Scooby-Doo! WrestleMania Mystery, a movie in which the team is flung into a wild-rumpus adventure with WWE superstar John Cena.

The comeback story came up just short on Wednesday’s “The Amazing Race 35.” Travel to Stockholm allowed Todd and Ashlie Martin to catch up to the other four teams, but the husband and wife were left behind at the wreath-making Roadblock. Not helping matters? Rob and Corey used their Express Pass to skip the task. Todd and Ashlie didn’t see another team for the rest of the leg, and while the episode made it seem like a footrace to the mat between them and Steve and Anna Leigh, it wasn’t that close.
“From what we’ve been told, we were about 10-15 minutes behind the last team to get to the mat,” Ashlie tells Gold Derby. Todd adds, “We were rushing to that train and we missed it by like three seconds. Then we had to wait 10 minutes. They could have very well been on that train. We didn’t see them.

It was a downward spiral for “The Amazing Race’s” Chelsea Day and Robbin Tomich on Thursday night, ending with the childhood best friends throwing in the towel for a chance to take a swim in Slovenia before meeting host Phil Keoghan at the Pit Stop. The 41-year olds from Washington began Leg 9 in last place after Chelsea struggled with the Roadblock. From there, navigation hell made for an impossible comeback.
“You don’t ever want to give up on the race, but getting lost on our way to Pivka Jama was the nail in the coffin for us,” Chelsea tells Gold Derby. Watch our exclusive video interview above. “By the time we got to the caves we didn’t run. We just enjoyed how absolutely stunning that place was.”

Leg 7 of “The Amazing Race 35” was nothing short of an unmitigated disaster for Andrea Simpson and Malaina Hatcher. The college besties got hopelessly lost self-navigating in Germany before they wound up on the wrong ferry, where they exchanged money for Euros instead of a bag of historical coins required for the first Roadblock. That faux pas set them even further back that by the time they arrived in Cologne, the party carnival was over and Phil Keoghan greeted them with a mercy elimination.
“It was just a dagger to our hearts [seeing him there],” Andrea tells Gold Derby (watch above; Malaina was unavailable due to a death in the family). “We must’ve been really, really lost if Phil came to the carnival and we couldn’t even meet him at the mat. It was very disappointing, but we tried our best. We did what we could and this is where we got us.

Robbin Bain, who was known as the “Today Girl” handling fashion and beauty segments on the NBC-TV morning show, died Oct. 21 in Southampton, N.Y., on Long Island. She was 87 and had breast cancer, according to her daughter.
Her public career began in 1959, when she was named as Miss Rheingold, then the most popular beer in the New York region. For her win, she received $50,000 and spent the next year making appearances in the United States and Europe.
She turned to modeling, appearing in ads for Helena Rubinstein and Revlon. She was also one of four women, called “Portrettes,” who introduced Jackie Gleason on his television variety show, The Jackie Gleason Show, in 1956 and 1957.
Early in her career, she changed her first name to Robbin to avoid confusion with the actress Barbara Bain.

After carefully considering options and strategies, Liam and Yeremi (as well as Morgan and Lena) cast their vote for Robbin and Chelsea, while Greg and John pick Steve and Anna Leigh, who have two first place finishes under their belt. Elizabeth and Iliana Rivera were third to last to leave the arduous Roadblock on Wednesday’s “The Amazing Race 35” in Thailand but became the second team eliminated after a series of unfortunate events. And it was all due to taxi luck. Their cabbie got lost on the way to the marked elephant, allowing the two trailing teams to catch up.
“Our taxi driver got lost and we made it there and were like, ‘Yay, we’re here,’ thinking they were still really far behind,” Iliana tells Gold Derby (watch above). “And then we see both teams at the elephant and we’re like, ‘Sh–.'”
“That crushed us,” Elizabeth adds. “I was like, ‘Oh, my God! How is that possible?’ I do remember sitting in the cab and it was going in a circle almost and I was like, ‘What’s happening? Are we going the right way?’ He was like,...

“The Rehearsal” has never been an easy series to pin down. Throughout the magnificent first season, questions stacked up with each new episode: Is it real, or is it fake? How much is real, and how much is fake? What does “real” even mean, in the context of a show about rehearsing for life’s biggest moments by playing out every possible scenario ahead of time? And among the dialogue-free birthday parties, dialogue tree conversations, and a bar on a soundstage that just happens to have an operating liquor license, don’t get me started on what might constitute a “fake.”
Where some saw incisive commentary on reality TV, others saw actual reality TV. When some fans compulsively rewatched episodes to appreciate the intricate construction, impressive production, or jokes they missed the first time from laughing too hard, others were physically repulsed by what they considered diabolical cringe comedy. What...

For six enthralling weeks, viewers of “The Rehearsal” have been circling back to the same question: Is Nathan Fielder’s mind-bending HBO series real or fake? We asked it when the mattress-hoarding, number-spotting Robbin seemed too good to be true, and again when he claimed his edited footage was “completely aimed at making me look bad.” We asked it when Angela took an apathetic approach to her elaborate audition for motherhood, and then questioned the target of our suspicion when it appeared she may have been acting the whole time. We asked it, along with Fielder himself, when Nathan spotted a grocery store sticker on a “freshly picked” green pepper, except only he was able to move on by simply turning the telling vegetable around.

This article contains spoilers for the first five episodes of "The Rehearsal."
People are baffled by "The Rehearsal." The series is ostensibly a comedy, though it often delves into dark subject matter and existential misery, and its reality show elements have left many viewers wondering about the moral implications of it all. The HBO series follows comedian Nathan Fielder as he offers to help people prepare for challenges in their life by rehearsing them beforehand. In the first few episodes, Fielder seems like a master manipulator who isn't giving people a chance to rehearse out of the goodness of his heart, but because he gets some kind of sick sociopathic glee from watching people feel uncomfortable. There's so much more beneath the surface, however, as the series begins to focus more on Fielder as it progresses, and becomes a story about feeling like everyone else is operating on a completely different wavelength.

Think about any of the truly great characters introduced on television over the past few years. Walter White, Don Draper, Elizabeth and Philip Jennings, Che Diaz. These characters and many more like them have graced our television screens with compelling stories as the medium progressed throughout its second Golden Age.
However, one can argue that none of these characters are as instantly iconic as the subject of this very article. That subject, of course, is a man named Robbin, a devout Christian and one of the side character's on this past week's episode of "The Rehearsal." At first glance, he seems like...
