After a week or so of weird videos and short teaser songs on streaming services, AFI are finally ready to unveil the madness behind it all: the release of a brand new album. Titled AFI (The Blood Album), their tenth full-length is going to arrive on January 20th, 2017, and to make the announcement sweeter, they’ve premiered not one, but two new songs.
Both tracks, “Snow Cats” and “White Offerings,” are available for listening on your app of choice, and both songs are balls-to-the-walls rockers that AFI are generally known for churning out. “Snow Cats” is at its best with its soaring chorus, while “White Offerings” takes no prisoners on its intense verses surrounded by poppier guitar riffs. Overall, the songs tend to stray more toward the sound that AFI implemented on their 2003 record, Sing the Sorrow.

2009 was a bloody banner year for dark, twisted and horror-themed music, making this a pretty damn tough choice... but I gotta say it was worth the effort delving into the FEARnet music vaults to find the songs, albums, videos and other musical oddities that burned themselves into our brains over the past twelve months. So hit the jump and take a trip back through 2009's coolest, creepiest, sickest and Loudest sonic sensations, presented in alphabetical order. 69 Eyes: Back in Blood The always entertaining "Helsinki Vampires" really cranked up their patented "Goth N Roll" skills for their latest release, which benefits from the input of Grammy-winning producer Matt Hyde (Slayer, Monster Magnet), who...

The Helsinki Vampires are indeed back again, however they are trading their sleaze glam and their "Dead Cool" Goth Rock image for a new gritty metal edge. This time around, the act pushes aside completely the notion of being a romantically inspired act and takes up the complete mantle of power stage rockers. When the act made their first big splash in 2005 when skating legend Bam Margera directed the “Lost Boys” video, they were billed by many music magazines as “The Saviors of Gothic Rock”, a title that has never sat well with yours truly, any more than I would say Manson was “Goth’s Salvation”. Neither act has really spent any length of time wanting to further the music scene that their respective record producers felt they should be pigeon holed into. Admittedly however, The 69 Eyes had a campy fun charm that hooked U.S. fans instantly and with...

Musically, it seems like we just can't get enough of the heavy stuff from Finland these days… and we're about to get some more: Helsinki's notorious vampire rockers The 69 Eyes are preparing to unleash their ninth studio album Back in Blood later this year. The band just poured out a crimson bucket-load of news on about the new record, and we've got it for you right here… all you gotta do is hit the jump! Back in Blood brings a lot of talent to the table, including Grammy-winning producer Matt Hyde (whose credits include Slayer's God Hates Us All) and Monster Magnet's Ed Mundell. It also represents a creative departure for the traditionally glam-goth band, who decided to move into heavier...
