- Kamran Jawaid made his breakthrough as a screenwriter in his late teens, optioning stories to low-budget producers, which led him to consultation jobs for motion pictures that were being developed in major, mini-major and independent studios in Hollywood.
His thirst for knowledge, which continues to this day, took him on an intense learning streak that ranged from motion picture development, financial strategies for films, cinematography, stereoscopy, editing (both on celluloid and digital), 3D, VFX and compositing.
For the next decade, Jawaid's pursuit of the intricacies of the medium gave him keen insight on approaching film narrative from the artists, technicians and a critic's point of view - the latter of which he welcomes to this day.
Since 2003, Jawaid has been a Senior Film Critic for Pakistan's biggest English language publication, Dawn Group of Newspapers.
As one of the most prominent film critics in the country, he has been on the jury of most of the award shows and film festivals in Pakistan, including the prestigious Lux Style Awards, Pakistan International Film Festival, the 60 Second Film Festival. He is also often called as jury for almost all prestigious universities' film program's final year thesis and appears regularly on television as a film and media analyst.
