Morton Subotnick was born on April 14, 1933 in Los Angeles, California, USA. He is a composer and actor, known for Capio, Dreamwood (1972) and Hungers (1987). He is married to Joan La Barbara. They have three children.
He is a classically-trained musician who studied with the French composer Darius Milhaud. He started out playing clarinet and composing music for chamber ensembles and orchestras.
He is a pioneer in electronic music and multi-media performance whose work has had an influence on Daft Punk and Kraftwerk, among others.
