Survivor is undoubtedly one of the harshest reality competition shows on broadcast television. Contestants are dumped on a remote beach with little to no supplies (including food), have to build their shelter, compete in grueling physical challenges while dehydrated and malnourished, and on top of it all, play a good enough social game to win $1 million. But to make their lives a little bit easier, do producers at least give the Survivor castaways sunscreen?

While the Survivor castaways have other things to worry about, like rats, snakes, clean water, and food, they don’t have to stress over their skin getting burned.
According to Insider, Elaine Stott from Survivor: Island of the Idols told them that the show’s producers provide the players with a medical kit at their camp. The kit contains supplies like sunscreen,...

In this week’s “Survivor 43” deleted scene (watch above), Owen Knight and Karla Cruz Godoy are chatting together on the beach during the 11th episode shortly after Noelle Lambert‘s blindside. “It’s hard to take anything personally at this point,” admits the 30-year-old college admissions director from New Orleans. “Earlier I was feeling pretty down in the dumps [before the Jeanine Zheng vote]. It’s exciting now. This is where it gets fun.”
Owen was feeling “pretty sorry” for himself yet again when Noelle was ousted from the game, but he heeded Karla’s advice and slept on it, and now he’s back to his old self. At the impending immunity challenge in which the players each had to hold their breaths under a steel grate in the ocean, he gave it his all and ended up outlasting the tide. Both Owen and Karla claimed immunity necklaces, a historic first for the classic challenge.

The 11h episode of “Survivor 43” aired on Wednesday night and concluded with host Jeff Probst snuffing out the torch of Sami Layadi. The nineteen-year old from Las Vegas, Nevada was sent packing and became the fifth member of the jury. Did the tribe make the right decision by voting Sami out? And what were the dumbest, most shocking and most exciting moments of the last episode?

If you’re a longtime “Survivor” fan who frequently finds yourself reminiscing about the older seasons, you’re not alone. Now even host Jeff Probst is getting nostalgic. During the November 30 episode of “Survivor 43,” the Top 7 castaways competed in a classic immunity challenge in which they each had to hold their breath under a steel grate in the ocean as the high tide rolled in. Midway through the competition, Probst lamented, “That water is rising. Immunity on the line. This is old school ‘Survivor,’ back when we inflicted a little more pain. Nice to revisit some of our old haunts.”
On cue, a portion of Russ Landau‘s classic theme song from “Survivor” Season 1 was heard in the background, a perfect callback for diehard viewers of CBS’s reality TV show. Re-watch the original opening titles sequence below.

Following last week’s elimination of Noelle Lambert from “Survivor 43,” only the Top 7 players remained in the running to win the 1 million grand prize. Of this group, three people still possessed immunity idols — Jesse Lopez, Karla Cruz Godoy and Cody Assenmacher — while the other four had nary an advantage to speak of — Owen Knight, Sami Layadi, Cassidy Clark and Mike Gabler. So whose torch did Jeff Probst snuff out at the conclusion of tribal council?

This week’s “Survivor 43” sneak peek video begins with Owen Knight returning to camp after Noelle Lambert‘s blindside, and he’s not a happy camper. After throwing his bag down onto the sand, he states in a private confessional, “This is not fun. This is terrible.” Owen then cackles wildly as he appears to spiral downward, sighing, “It’s like getting comical at this point.” Watch the video above.
Noelle is just the latest person he’d been close to on the island that ended up going home, and he was once again kept out of the loop by the other tribe members. “I keep finding myself as the closest person to the person who’s getting blindsided,” Owen notes, “and it’s depressing realizing that I’ve just been outfoxed for like the nine billionth time.”

Last week after the elimination of Noelle Lambert, Gold Derby ran a poll asking “Survivor 43” fans to name who among the Top 7 castaways they wanted to win the 1 million. The poll results are in and it’s good news for Jesse Lopez. This 30-year-old survey methodologist from North Carolina earned a leading 31 support from viewers, with his closest competition being Karla Cruz Godoy at 20 and Cody Assenmacher at 16. Do you agree or disagree with your fellow “Survivor” viewers?
Here are the complete poll results for who fans want to see as this season’s Sole Survivor:
31 — Jesse Lopez
20 — Karla Cruz Godoy
16 — Cody Assenmacher
10 — Owen Knight
10 — Sami Layadi
8 — Cassidy Clark
5 — Mike Gabler

Jesse’s backstory is a first for CBS’s reality TV show, in that he was a troubled teen who got caught up with the wrong people and ended up in juvenile hall.

If it’s true that liars end up with pants on fire, Cassidy Clark is going to need some new britches. In CBS’s latest “Survivor 43” secret scene (watch above), the 26-year-old designer from Texas lies right to Ryan Medrano‘s face about who voted him during the tribal council when Jeanine Zheng ultimately went home. Ryan received two votes that night: one from Jeanine and one from Cassidy. But the 25-year-old warehouse associate from Texas had no idea who was responsible for that second vote.
“Guys, I thought I was going to get voted out and didn’t have my giant shells. I was going to be upset,” Ryan tells the group on Night 16 after they all return to camp. In a private confessional, he reveals, “So tribal was supposed to be an easy vote. Everybody was in unison with [voting out] Jeanine. But somebody other than Jeanine put my name down at tribal.

Wednesday’s ninth episode of “Survivor 43,” Jeff Probst surprised the top 10 with two immunity idol necklaces and two tribal councils. The players returned the favor by surprising us with two blindsides. In the first of the night’s two eliminations, James Jones was hoodwinked by Karla Cruz Godoy, Owen Knight, Noelle Lambert and Sami Layadi. Read his “Survivor 43” exit interview below.
In a long history of blindsides, the move against James will go down as one of the best planned and most satisfying for those that made it. The set up was perfected once James and Owen, his growing arch nemesis in the game, were sorted into the same group to attend a split tribal council together. In the prior week, James had lied to Owen about the group voting out Ryan Medrano, leaving him as the odd man out in what ended up being a vote against his ally Jeanine Zheng.

On Wednesday’s ninth episode of “Survivor 43,” a battle looks to be brewing between Owen Knight and James Jones. “James is dangerous,” Owen proclaims, referring to when James lied to him about the recent vote. Even though the majority of players were planning on voting out Jeanine Zheng, James told Owen that Ryan Medrano was actually the target. Uh-oh! Watch CBS’s sneak peek video for “What About the Big Girls” above.
“I was at the well with Sami and James,” Owen whispers to Sami Layadi and Mike Gabler shortly after Jeanine’s ouster. “I said, ‘If it’s Jeanine, just tell me, I’ll do it.’ They said, ‘Nope, it’s Ryan.'” Owen then declares in a confessional that he is “pissed” with James because of the lie. If you’re like me, the ending of the seventh episode of “Survivor 43” left you with one burning question: did Jeanine Zheng get her idol back from Dwight Moore? Well, we now know the answer is “no” thanks to an interview Jeff Probst gave to EW.com. “Once the reading of the votes begins, that’s it,” reveals Probst. “That’s why I say, ‘If anyone has an idol or an advantage and you want to play it, now would be the time to do so.’ That’s your window. After that, you are basically handcuffed from doing anything other than hoping it’s not you.”
The host with the most also reiterates the rule that a player cannot bequeath their idols/advantages on their way to getting their torch snuffed. “Once you’re voted out, you’re out of the game and any advantage or idols in your possession lose all their power,...

It’s not often a TV show in its 43rd season can still have an emotional impact on audiences, but “Survivor” did just that during its November 2 episode.
In the epic immunity challenge, the 12 remaining castaways divided themselves into six pairs, and then host Jeff Probst explained it would be a three-tier battle for the individual necklace. The first stage was physical, the second stage was balance and the third stage was endurance. The four players who made it to the end were Mike “Gabler” Gabler, Cody Assenmacher, Owen Knight and Dwight Moore, and Gabler had viewers reaching for the tissues as he gave minute-by-minute dedications to those who inspired him throughout his life.

When the three tribes came together as one on on the sixth episode of “Survivor 43,” confusion was in the air as no one was quite sure whether they had officially “merged.” In a new CBS deleted scene (watch above), Noelle Lambert lets it be known that she feels “lucky to be here,” no doubt referencing the fact that her name was written down at the last tribal council she attended.
“Day 13, halfway to go, and we still have no idea what’s coming next,” states the 26-year-old U.S. Paralympian from Manchester, N.H. At this stage in the game, all 13 remaining castaways were living on the same beach, but they hadn’t yet competed in the challenge that would determine who made the merge and who would go to purgatory, aka “mergatory.”

The 43rd season of “Survivor” premiered earlier this week with an extended two-hour episode, but that simply wasn’t enough time to show you everything that happened on the island. Thus, CBS has released a “Survivor 43” deleted scene that focuses on Ryan Medrano, a 25-year-old warehouse associate from Texas who was born three months premature, and Geo Bustamante, a 36-year-old project manager from Hawaii. During the video clip (watch above), the guys are getting to know each other on Day 1 on the Coco beach.

First up, a quick reminder that “Survivor 43” filmed in early spring in the beautiful islands of Fiji (the show’s permanent home). And once again, there will be no theme/subtitle for the new cycle. Gone are the days of titles like “Survivor: Worlds Apart” or “Survivor: Edge of Extinction,” replaced instead by the number of the season. It’s likely this trend will continue for “Survivor 44,” “Survivor 45,” etc.

“Survivor 43” contestant Owen Knight is a superfan that plainly says, “‘Survivor’ means a lot to me.” The 30-year-old college admissions director from New Orleans grew up watching the show every week with his family and says he daydreamed about seeing his name in the opening credits. Proudly stating that he’s “been preparing for this for a very long time,” Owen explains that he’s “watched everything you could ever watch about ‘Survivor'” and “been working out a ton.” Adding, “It may not look like it, but these legs have some gas in them.” The three words he would use to describe himself are “Loyal, charismatic, passionate.”
