Below, some of our recommendations: "The Bonnie Situation," by Alex Pappademas (Grantland): A rare interview with reclusive musician Will Oldham (a.k.a. Bonnie "Prince" Billy, Palace Music, etc.) "The Funny State," by Evan Smith Rakoff (Slate): Some thoughts about why comedians from North Carolina have become such a prominent contingent in the comedy world. "Talking to Neal Brennan About 'Chappelle's Show', Standup, Podcasts and More," by Phil Davidson (Splitsider): The co-creator of Chappelle's Show on that topic, plus: stand-up, and why he only has black guests on his comedy podcast. "Interview: David Lynch," by Mark Richardson (Pitchfork): One of film's most beloved weirdos on the making of 1977's Eraserhead and its eerie soundtrack.

Twentieth Century Fox Executive Gavin Smith has been missing for more than a week now, and his family is beginning to open up about the stress of the search.
Smith's three teen sons spoke with Inside Edition about the investigation, vowing to keep looking until they found him. Because they're worried he may have accidentally driven off a steep cliff on the canyon roads, all three of them have been skipping school to take part in the search, doing their part to cover the city with posters about their father.
"The problem here is that time is of the essence in these things," said Evan Smith, a sophomore at USC. "My gut feeling is that he is out there and we just have to go find him."
Evan has also been tweeting about the case continuously since his father's disappearance. He shared that the authorities have "combed the canyons" looking for Gavin,...

My very, very full day started early Saturday morning with the Molly Shannon taping of Klru's Overheard with Evan Smith. She was running late, but was delightful when she arrived. It was totally worth getting up at 7 am for. Choice bit of trivia that she told the audience before the cameras were running: when she was a waitress working in La (before her big break on SNL), Johnny Depp would eat at her restaurant and leave extremely generous tips. She said he told her that his mom had once been a waitress.
After the taping, I hightailed it over to the Bob Bullock Museum where I left my car in the garage for the day and waded through the book festival on Congress towards the Driskill. Conservatives longing for a 2012 savior are increasingly fixating on Texas' governor. Peter Boyer talks to Perry about his suitors, his state's economic success-and his timetable for deciding.
One of the photographs that Texas Gov. Rick Perry keeps on his BlackBerry is a portrait of Aurora P. ( "Rory" ) Perry, the family's black Labrador Retriever, who last year acquired a key role in local Perry legend. The governor and the dog were out for an early morning jog when a coyote suddenly appeared, growling at Rory. Perry, who carries a Ruger .380 handgun in his belt when he jogs, pulled the weapon and shot the coyote dead. When some Austin locals protested that Perry's reaction was excessive, and dangerous, he shrugged it off. "Don't attack my dog," he said, "or you might get shot."

The Donald, suddenly riding high in the 2012 polls, drew rave reviews at a Tea rally in Boca Raton. Jim DeFede reports on why the birther card is working-and what Trump has learned from Gary Busey.
Hours before Donald Trump arrived for his Tea Party debut Saturday in Boca Raton, 68-year-old Jerry Hochfelsen was handing out hundreds of "Draft Trump" T-shirts. "He's the man for today," said Hochfelsen.

So we each put up a few bucks and said let's support him.

Fango recently spent a day on location with the new horror short Something Just—specifically the basement of filmmaker Scott W. Perry (pictured left). Here, sadistic serial killer Thomas Sutcliffe, portrayed in a bit of against-type casting by East Coast horror stalwart Alan Rowe Kelly, terrorizes a bound, captive girl played by genre newcomer Joslyn Jensen. You can see some exclusive pics from this and other Something Just moments below.
Perry’s follow-up to his vampire story Insatiable (which we covered here) also stars Jerry Murdock as the guardian of one of Sutcliffe’s victims, who goes to an old friend (Joe Zaso) to seek vengeance; in the process, dark secrets from the past are revealed. This is the first production of Perry’s Slick Devil Entertainment to be lensed in 1080p high definition, with cinematographer Dominick Sivilli creating an oppressively creepy atmosphere in the smoke-suffused basement as Kelly manhandles and murders Jensen.
