Netflix has officially begun production of The Witcher Season 4 and shared a sneak peek of the cast together from the recent table read. The streaming service has also given the green light to Season 5 of The Witcher, which will film back-to-back with Season 4 and will be the final chapter in Geralt’s story.
Seasons 4 and 5 will adapt the remaining Sapkowski books, Baptism of Fire, The Tower of the Swallow, and Lady of the Lake, promising an epic and satisfying conclusion to Netflix’s hit fantasy drama.
After the shocking, Continent-altering events that close out season three, the fourth season follows Geralt, Yennefer, and Ciri, who are faced with traversing the war-ravaged Continent and its many demons apart from each other.

The saga of Geralt of Rivia is coming to an end.
Netflix announced Wednesday that it has ordered a fifth — and final — season of The Witcher. The streamer also noted that season four, which will see Liam Hemsworth taking over the role of Geralt from Henry Cavill, has begun production. The final two seasons will film back to back.
“It is with huge pride that we begin shooting our penultimate season of The Witcher with a stellar cast, including some exciting new additions, led by Liam Hemsworth as Geralt of Rivia,” showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich said in a statement. “We’re thrilled to be able to bring Andrzej Sapkowski’s books to an epic and satisfying conclusion. Henry Cavill’s days of playing our hero Geralt of Rivia on the Netflix series The Witcher are over – but the streamer is taking the risk of continuing the show without him. Liam Hemsworth is taking over the role of Geralt as of The Witcher season 4, and while we wait to see how Hemsworth is going to do in the role (and whether or not fans are going to accept someone else playing Geralt), Variety has revealed the names of three more season 4 cast members. They are Sharlto Copley (District 9), James Purefoy (The Following), and Danny Woodburn (Seinfeld). They note that “Copley will play the infamous bounty hunter Leo Bonhart from The Witcher novels. Purefoy will play Skellen, a high-ranking spy and court advisor to Emhyr who is also a prominent figure in the novels. Woodburn will play Zoltan, a fan favorite dwarf character from the novels and Witcher video games.

When The Witcher season 4 starts streaming on Netflix, our hero Geralt of Rivia is going to have a whole new look. That’s because Henry Cavill is no longer involved, with Liam Hemsworth taking over the role of Geralt. Today, Deadline has revealed that Hemsworth is being joined in the cast of The Witcher season 4 by Laurence Fishburne (The Matrix and the John Wick franchise), who will be playing a character named Regis.
If you’re like me and don’t have any familiarity with the Witcher franchise outside of the Netflix show, chances are that the first person you think of when you see the name Regis is Regis Philbin. But, of course, Fishburne’s casting on this show is not going to require any sort of Philbin impression. Instead, the Regis character he’ll be playing is someone who was introduced in Andrzej Sapkowski’s novel Baptism of Fire.

The Witcher has found its Regis. Emmy winner and Oscar nominee Laurence Fishburne is joining the upcoming fourth season of the Netflix series as the fan-favorite character from The Witcher books and games.
Introduced in Sapkowski’s novel Baptism of Fire, Regis is a world-wise Barber-surgeon with a mysterious past who joins Geralt on his journey in Season 4. Geralt will be played by Liam Hemsworth, who takes over the role from Henry Cavill, who exited at the end of Season 3.
After the shocking, Continent-altering events that close out season three, the new season follows Geralt, Yennefer, and Ciri who are faced with traversing the war-ravaged Continent and its many demons apart from each other. If they can embrace and lead the groups of misfits they find themselves in, they have a chance of surviving the baptism of fire — and finding one another again.

Originally expected to be a six episode series, The Witcher prequel The Witcher: Blood Origin will be “a four-part special event” when it reaches the Netflix streaming service on December 25th. Our own Alex Maidy already had the chance to watch the show, giving it an 8/10 review you can read Here – and in his review he said, “The limited four-episode run is just long enough to build up the characters without overstaying its welcome. In fact, I would have enjoyed more episodes or even another standalone mini-series focused on this era.” During a recent interview with Netflix, showrunner Declan de Barra said the idea to cut the show down from six episodes to four came up in the editing room so the show could have “optimum story flow”.
The showrunner said, “This felt like a two-part movie. You never want to be watching a movie going, ‘I love this movie.

“My journey as Geralt of Rivia has been filled with both monsters and adventures, and alas, I will be laying down my medallion and my swords for Season 4,” Cavill said in a statement. “In my stead, the fantastic Mr Liam Hemsworth will be taking up the mantle of the White Wolf. As with the greatest of literary characters, I pass the torch with reverence for the time spent embodying Geralt and enthusiasm to see Liam’s take on this most fascinating and nuanced of men. Netflix has renewed The Witcher for a fourth season with a twist.
Liam Hemsworth will replace Henry Cavill in the epic drama series, taking the reins as Geralt of Rivia.
The move comes ahead of the third season of the series, which will return in summer 2023. A four-part prequel series, The Witcher: Blood Origin launches December 25, 2022.
Cavill, who revealed earlier this week he will return in the role of Superman, played the grim Geralt of Rivia, the bane of supernatural beasties in the first three seasons of the drama series.
The Witcher is a story of the intertwined destinies of three individuals in the vast world of The Continent, where humans, elves, witchers, gnomes, and monsters battle to survive and thrive, and where good and evil is not easily identified.
It also stars Anya Chalotra and Freya Allan.

Netflix had announced that the prequel series The Witcher: Blood Origin, which is set in “an elven world” 1200 years before the events we saw in The Witcher, would have a six episode run. But now the Witcher fan site Redanian Intelligance reports that they’ve heard the show is being condensed from six episodes down to four.
Here’s the Redanian Intelligence report:
Keep in mind that the footage was already shot as six episodes, which likely means heavier editing and potentially lots of footage on the cutting room floor. To support that, we learned the writing credits for all of the Blood Origin episodes and they go like this:
Episode 1: Declan de Barra
Episode 2: Alex Meenehan/Aaron Stewart-Ahn
Episode 3: Tania Lotia/Kiersten Van Horne
Episode 4: Declan de Barra/Tasha Huo
We can’t claim to know all the ins and outs of how crediting works...

After conquering the video game world Andrzej Sapkowski's 'The Witcher' has now has its sites on the small screen. Netflix is now developing and producing a new English language drama series based on the globally popular fantasy saga. Sapkowski’s eight novels and story collections center on "witchers" -- hunters who develop supernatural abilities at a young age to battle deadly monsters.
The New York Times bestselling books have spawned a major video game franchise and have been translated into over 20 languages. “Andrzej Sapkowski has created a rich and memorable world, at once magical and familiar,” said Erik Barmack, Netflix Vice President, international series. “We couldn’t be more excited about bringing Netflix members around the world.” “I’m thrilled that Netflix will be doing an adaptation of my stories, staying true to the source material and the themes that I have spent over thirty years writing,...

For the longest time, fans have been waiting for the first real big video game movie success. After decades of subpar-to-terrible entertainment. Super Mario Bros. Tomb Raider. Resident Evil. While they have all had varying levels of success, few would call them big runaway hits that caught on with massive audiences (especially Mario). Last year, we hoped Warcraft and Assassin’s Creed would allow the genre to thrive, but here we are in 2017, and little has actually changed.
However, perhaps we were looking at the wrong medium. Earlier this year, it was confirmed that a Castlevania animated TV series would be coming to Netflix, and its enthusiastic producer discussed how he expected it to be the best video game adaptation to date. With that in mind, perhaps we were wrong to look at film as a way to adapt great stories from video games. Perhaps the perfect medium was, in fact,...
