With their sitcom House Of Fools recently announced, we celebrate the enduring comedy brilliance of Vic Reeves and Bob Mortimer...
Readers of a certain age may remember the first time they saw Vic and Bob on television. For some, it may have been the 25th of May 1990, the fateful night "Britain's top light entertainer and singer" Vic Reeves burst onto screens with an absurdly fast, lounge-act rendition of The Monkees' I'm A Believer. In the background, his cohort Bob Mortimer looked on admiringly, dressed in the stovepipe hat and vast sideburns of Isambard Kingdom Brunel.
For many viewers, this was a first glimpse inside the strange world of a comedy duo who'd already garnered a cult following in London pubs and clubs in the mid-1980s. Having impressed the likes of Jonathan Ross and Alan Yentob with their surreal, apparently semi-improvised comedy, Vic and...

These are the highways to hell. For the second straight year, The Daily Beast ranks the roads with the worst rush hour gridlock. How does your commute rank?
More than merely expensive, long commutes are mentally debilitating. They're also completely, absolutely avoidable. With that in mind, The Daily Beast set out to determine, for the second consecutive year, which cities have the worst commutes-and specifically, which stretches of road within each city experience the worst congestion.

As we told you earlier, Google has ramped up its lobbying efforts, spending $1.34 million last quarter influencing the Washington elite--up 41% from the same period last year. Who are these lobbyists Google is using to pressure federal lawmakers and what are they trying to accomplish?
Here, we've Googled the Googlers for you, and found that the search giant is most concerned with influencing policy related to privacy and net neutrality.
Alan Davidson. Davidson is Google's director of public policy and government affairs and has written extensively on not just privacy but network neutrality, a hot-button issue that is gaining steam in Washington. It relates to search neutrality, which, as Google has argued, would badly damage the search engine's ability to innovate. According to Marissa Mayer, VP of search product, Google would suffer significantly from government oversight in these areas.
Johanna Shelton. Shelton is Google's senior policy counsel, and had previously worked for Rep.

Beyoncé or Britney? Eminem or Kanye? And what about Gaga or Jay?!?
From the sound of things, if you require a last name, you don't have a prayer of winning at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards. Or, at least, that's what you're telling us anyway.
See, on Wednesday, we gave you our Vma predictions — who we saw winning September 13, when the show is broadcast live from New York City. Even though we're still roughly six weeks away from the big show, that didn't stop us from calling this one already. In our opinion, Beyoncé is the odds-on favorite to take home the most Moonmen, including Best Female Video, Best Choreography and, the night's biggest award, Video of the Year.
Of course, that prediction sat pretty well with B's...
