Jessica and McGee were undoubtedly in for surprises, weren't they?
That's because two family members were introduced on NCIS Season 21 Episode 5.
We found that Jess was actually an NCIS legacy agent, which just hadn't come up before during her three seasons on the team.
Let's face it. Jessica was long overdue for a spotlight episode.
The last time she was this prominent in an episode was NCIS Season 18 Episode 15 when she was the surviving member of an NCIS React team.
Since she joined the team during the following season, replacing sudden secret agent Ellie Bishop, she's been a reliable if underexposed member of the squad.
In fact, much of her screen time has been as part of the obligatory team couple with medical examiner Jimmy Palmer.
It must be said that after meeting her father, her attraction to the stalwart Palmer makes more sense.
That's not to rain on their relationship.

As Hollywood legend or, rather, a recycled talk show anecdote tells us, Kate Winslet keeps her best actress Academy Award for 2008’s The Reader in a guest bathroom. This location allows visitors some private time with Oscar — a chance to hold him, gaze in the mirror, maybe mouth the acceptance speech they’ll likely never give. But her statuette’s proximity to the toilet could be the reason Winslet has yet to win a second.
Placing any symbol of career achievement or good fortune in the bathroom is generally a feng shui no-no. “I’ve certainly been in many homes with a Grammy in the bathroom,” says Kim Colwell, a Los Angeles-based interior designer and feng shui practitioner. “I get the punk rock attitude, but, from a feng shui standpoint, that’s good energy going down the literal tubes.”

What splits the fine line between desire and expectations? Is it a thing you can see? Is it a thing you can film?
Film at Lincoln Center’s new retrospective supposes that if any of those questions have answers, they might reside in the cinema of Edward Yang. Moving from “A Rational Mind”––the title of their 2011 retrospective of Yang’s work––to “Desire/Expectations” reframes those questions to be more diffuse, less singular. A rational mind could answer in the affirmative or negative; a slash indicates that desire and expectations may occupy the same terrain simultaneously.
“A rational mind” is also, perhaps, an accusation a Yang character could lob at another, especially in A Confucian Confusion (1994), a workplace farce that subjects a “culture company” in 1990s Taipei to the contradictions of Confucian teachings. In turn (or simultaneously), the film interrogates Confucian-influenced, consumer-friendly spaces––like 1990s Taipei––to rethink old-world molds of tradition and expectation.

China and Netherlands-based Fortissimo Films has picked up international sales rights to anticipated Chinese blockbuster movie “If You Are the One 3.”
To be released on Dec. 30 in China, the picture is directed by Feng Xiaogang as the second sequel in his anti-romance comedy franchise, about a rich businessman and an air stewardess, which kicked off in 2008 and earned a follow-up in 2010. The new picture reunites the key cast Ge You and Shu Qi, as well as Fan Wei (“One Second”), Yao Chen (“Journey to the West: The Demons Strike Back”) and Guan Xiaotong (“Shadow”).
Set in 2031, the new film tells the story of Qin (Ge) retiring alone on a small island, as his wife Xiaoxiao (Shu) is away all year long. Chekhov famously stated that you shouldn’t introduce a gun in the first act of a play without firing it off sometime later. In director Gao Peng’s feature debut, A Long Shot, the gun in question is seen during the first five minutes and then remains unused until the finale. For the rest of this murky, gritty thriller’s two-hour running time, firearms take a back seat to the rampant corruption and crime taking place in China’s northeastern industrial wasteland, where a long-standing iron and steel foundry is in the midst of a major crisis.
The Fenglin Ferroalloy Factory, a massive rust-covered facility where nearly the entire movie is set, employs more than 8,000 people and is almost a city onto itself. But wages have gone unpaid for months, and the workers — or whoever’s left of them — are getting antsy. Protecting the place against a wave of robberies...

“The Afterparty” has placed all sorts of lenses on its murder mystery wedding romp in Season 2: the generic conventions of rom-com and film noir, specific directorial styles like Alfred Hitchcock’s and Wes Anderson’s, and even whole modes of filmmaking as in Feng’s (Ken Jeong) found-footage episode peppered with vertical iPhone videos ready for TikTok.
The sheer number of different visual styles the show needs is a challenge, but so is creating a “normal” look for the present-day interrogation scenes with Danner (Tiffany Haddish), Aniq (Sam Richardson), and Zoë (Zoe Chao). Working out the feeling of that grounding “home base” look was as challenging as crafting the show’s most extreme visual styles, and in both cases required cinematographer Ross Riege to do a lot of calibrating in order to get it right — and then keep it straight.

As we are in episode 9 of The Afterparty, we’ve been hit with a curve ball. While this plot twist was expected, the way it was presented was unexpected. Elizabeth Perkins’ Isabel is quirky and straightforward, a trait that is entertaining in this genre of show, and so her episode is one of the best of the season. This season of The Afterparty is far less experimental than the first season, which is a shame because the musical and animated episodes were some of the best of the show. Feng’s Tik-Tok-ified story leads Danner to Isabel, but wouldn’t it be too easy of an answer? We can only find out in the last episode of The Afterparty, but until then, let’s go through Isabel’s night.

The Afterparty ends in 2 more weeks, and episode 8 “takes the cake” for giving the most clues this season. Still, we’re far from solving the mystery; of course, the killer will be revealed in the finale. Sebastian is completely missing from this episode, raising more suspicions against him. Zoe and Grace are in for some news, and it’s finally time to accept certain things that people have been hiding for a long time. Danner seems to find her own leads, and Aniq is too busy trying to figure out how to deal with everything Ulysses has told him. Let’s quickly dive into Feng’s Tiktok star’s point of view.

The latest episode of The Afterparty Season 2 plays out like a dramatic ballad about a man’s love for a forbidden maiden. The show seems to be interested in acting out tropes but fails to entertain in any way in terms of being comical around those tropes. This episode revolves around Ulysses’ point of view and why he had to be a world traveler all this time. Considering he’s known as funcle or fun-uncle, you’d expect the episode to be a little more fun, but it’s still one of the better of the series. As we get closer to the end of the show, it seems more like the whole thing was an accident, but we’ll see if Sebastian is still our guy.

Jackie Chan held his end in portraying Luo Feng in Scott Waugh’s Hidden Strike, and the other end was held by John Cena. The film rode on the shoulders of those two performers, but ultimately, the superficial conflicts and the limited investments in their arcs and resolutions, laden with unnecessarily prolonged action sequences, ensured that the film couldn’t rise above its generic treatment. John Cena played Chris Van Horne and got an opportunity to act alongside the legendary Jackie Chan. The relationship between the two is reminiscent of the characters in Rush Hour, where Jackie Chan starred alongside Chris Tucker. Although it must be added that Cena is no Tucker, he manages to charm his way through the film with witty one-liners and his improvisational dialogue; some tickled me even when they ended up in the outtakes shown in the post-credit scenes. Let’s take a look at...

Scott Waugh had the opportunity to make use of two phenomenal talents in his new movie Hidden Strike, but he couldn’t really achieve the impact he would have liked. It’s an odd pairing—Jackie Chan with John Cena. Both have the same initials, and for a while, it looked like they might go against each other, but the writing ensured that the story remained predictable. Written by Arash Amel, Hidden Strike neither invested much in complex character arcs nor any dilemmas that the characters would really have to struggle with. The movie is carried from one action sequence to the next, and Jackie and John try to salvage the one-note movie on their shoulders through their charm and goofy performances.
Jackie Chan has legendary status when it comes to action cinema. Having done films like The Legend of the Drunken Master and Rush Hour, he has nothing more to prove.

Florence, Italy, June 3 (Ians) Kenyan Faith Kipyegon broke the women’s 1,500 meters world record at the Wanda Diamond League’s Golden Gala meeting, here.
The 29-year-old world and Olympic champion refreshed Ethiopian Genzebe Dibaba’s record of three minutes and 50.07 seconds set in Monaco in 2015 by clocking 3:49.11, becoming the first female athlete to break through the 3:50 mark in the 1,500 meters category, reports Xinhua.
Kipyegon was paced through the first 400 meters in 1:02.37 and after the pacemaker seceded the pack, the Kenyan speeded up to finish the last 600 meters at unprecedented speed.
“I said yesterday that I wanted to run a beautiful race, run my race, and see what is possible, and this was possible,” Kipyegon said, adding “There’s still more to come. I’m still working on running faster than that, faster than 3:49. I’m really thankful today that I managed to run 3:49 and I...

“Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves” opened in fourth place at the mainland China box office with a muted $5 million haul. Top honors belonged to Japanese animation film “Suzume” for the second weekend.
“Suzume” incurred a 55% week-on-week drop, falling from $49.6 million in its opening weekend, to $22.1 million in is second, according to data from consultancy Artisan Gateway. After ten days in Chinese theaters, “Suzume” now has a cumulative total of $80.6 million.
Nevertheless, its lead at the top of the box office chart was unassailable. The weekend’s best-placed new release title was “Hachiko,” a Chinese retelling of the Japanese tale of a dog which faithfully waited at a station for its master years after his death. (The story was previously given a U.S. version with Richard Gere in the lead human role.) It earned $8.9 million (RMB61.2 million) in its opening weekend.

In 1970, prominent Hong Kong producers Raymond Chow and Leonard Ho left the legendary Shaw Brothers studio to found the now iconic Golden Harvest. The new studio would grow to dominate the Hong Kong film landscape for the next thirty years, overseeing the rise of Jackie Chan, Sammo Hung, and, of course, the immortal Bruce Lee.
Alongside these male superstars emerged another kung fu hero who has built a lasting cinematic legacy of her own – Angela Mao. Mao starred in Golden Harvest's first feature production, the magical wuxia adventure film “The Angry River” (1971). The film was helmed by the debuting director, Huang Feng, marking the first of nine successful collaborations between Feng and Mao.
Below are listed five of Feng and Mao's most electrifying joint projects, ranging from the bizarre to the brutal:
1. Lady Whirlwind (1972)
