Vanity Fair France has apologized for publishing a photo in which a Palestine pin that Guy Pearce was wearing on his suit was edited out (via CNN). Pearce attended this year’s Cannes Film Festival for David Cronenberg’s competition entry “The Shrouds,” in which he stars opposite Vincent Cassel and Diane Kruger. Pearce was one of many festival stars to have his portrait taken and published by Vanity Fair France, but the photo online did not include the Palestinian flag pin the actor wore throughout the festival.
As reported by CNN: “A small Palestinian flag pin, which Pearce had been wearing on his lapel throughout Cannes, was missing from the photograph [on the publication’s website], though a different photo, featuring the pin, was posted to the magazine’s Instagram the same day the article published. A white, red, black and green bracelet — the colors of the Palestinian flag — was still visible on his wrist.

Tan France says he had nothing to do with Queer Eye colleague Bobby Berk being apparently fired and replaced on the popular Netflix series.
“Yes, I’ve heard what’s going on, and I just want to address one point real quick. My former colleague getting fired had nothing to do with me trying to get my friend hired,” France, a co-host and fashion expert on the series, said in a Friday Instagram post.
Rumors and accusations have flown since interior designer Berk left the series and news broke he would be replaced by Jeremiah Brent for the ninth season of Queer Eye after an alleged campaign led by France.
France, who fronts the style portion of the series, insists Netflix did its own casting for Berk’s replacement and without his campaigning for Brent, as he is accused of doing. “I didn’t prop my friend up for the job.

Tan France — co-host and fashion expert on the Netflix “Queer Eye” series — has addressed the recent allegations that he pushed for the hiring of his friend Jeremiah Brent to replace former cast member and interior design expert Bobby Berk.
In a recent Rolling Stone article, sources claimed that France (with alleged support from co-host Antoni Porowski) “campaigned” for Berk to be replaced with new hire Jeremiah Brent. Brent is set to join the cast for Season 9.
“Yes, I’ve heard what’s going on, and I just want to address one point real quick,” France said in Instagram video post on Friday. “My former colleague getting fired had nothing to do with me trying to get my friend hired.”
France continued: “Netflix and the production companies did a full-on casting. I didn’t prop my friend up for the job. They ended up getting it because they were the best person for the job.

Netflix made clear from the start that they were running a different kind of awards show.
Presenter and quasi-host Idris Elba indicated to the attended nominees that, in their speeches, they were free to let expletives fly, but that none of them should say anything “you wouldn’t say in front of Oprah.” After the SAG Awards had fully moved to streaming — after a liminal year, in 2023, in which the ceremony had aired on Netflix’s YouTube channel, preceded by a long tenure on the Turner cable networks — it felt like a sort of safe space for speaking frankly.
But shifting the script doesn’t necessarily match the priorities of actors during awards season. And while the ceremony deserves some credit for reinventing itself, its primary function was fueling the conversation about the forthcoming Oscars. In this, it provided plenty of fuel — with Lily Gladstone and Cillian Murphy winning the...

Bobby Berk is opening up about the rumors about him and Tan France having tension.
Bobby told Vanity Fair, “Tan and I had a moment. There was a situation, and that’s between Tan and I, and it has nothing to do with the show.”
He added, “It was something personal that had been brewing —and nothing romantic, just to clarify that.”
Keep reading to find out more…
Fans first thought there might be drama when they’d noticed Bobby unfollowed Tan.
He added, “Should I have unfollowed Tan? No. Maybe I should have just muted him. But that day, I was angry, and that’s the end of it. We became like siblings — and siblings are always going to fight.”
He added, “I will always have a very special place in my heart for him and Rob (France’s husband) and the kids. I can foresee in six months or a year,...

Ridley Scott returns to the historical action epic genre in this first trailer for his sweeping Napoleon, which reunites the director with his Oscar-winning Gladiator star Joaquin Phoenix.
Napoleon is described as capturing “Napoleon Bonaparte’s relentless journey to power through the prism of his addictive, volatile relationship with his one true love, Josephine (Vanessa Kirby), showcasing his visionary military and political tactics against some of the most dynamic practical battle sequences ever filmed.”
“I’m the first to admit when I make a mistake,” intones Bonaparte (Phoenix) at one point in the trailer, “I simply never do.”
The trailer shows multiple sweeping battlefield scenes chronicling the French military commander and political leader who rose to prominence during the French Revolution and led several successful campaigns during the Revolutionary Wars, eventually becoming the Emperor of France in 1804.
In addition to Phoenix as the original short king, the film stars Ben Miles,...

Condé Nast may be a publishing giant, but when it comes to its content efforts, it’s all about the brands, and the culture.
“We’re drafting off of our IP and just getting smarter about getting our IP out into the world, and then building product strategy around that,” says Pam Drucker Mann, Condé Nast’s global chief revenue officer. “The way that we engage consumers is not on one platform, right? We’re not a walled garden, we’re a creator. Our job is to meet consumers where they are. I think what shifted over the last three years is we’ve been able to work with intentional partners and own our sales rights.”

The Queen of France has never been this cool. Samantha Morton stars as Catherine de Medici (a.k.a. France's queen from 1547 to 1559) in the edgy trailer for The Serpent Queen, premiering Sept. 11 on Starz. Over some pop-punk music, Catherine begins to tell her side of things. "My story begins when I was a young girl," she says. "I was alone in the world. My first impression of my fellow man was less than favorable." Her uncle Pope Clement, played by Games of Thrones' Charles Dance, is quick to inform young Catherine that her life is not in her own hands. "It doesn't matter what you want," he tells her. "Your marriage has been...
