Living in the world of Charlie Kaufman, as we all do, everything is ultimately Charlie Kaufman – as if to prove this, Charlie Kaufman is to adapt the Charlie Kaufman play Anomalisa, written and directed by Charlie Kaufman. The play concerns Michael, a motivational speaker who experiences great success in motivating others while leading a completely worthless and pointless life himself.
Of the original cast, David Thewlis, Tom Noonan and Jennifer Jason Leigh will appear in the 50 minute film, scripted and co-directed by Charlie Kaufman alongside Duke Johnson. The film is notable for being financed entirely through crowdfunding platform Kickstarter, raising double the required budget of $200,000 (making $400,000, maths whizz) and ensuring great times for all. HanWay will be taking the film to Cannes, and Duke Johnson has promised to “bring a new style of animation to an audience for whom animated films are not usually made – adultineers,” whatever that means.

Captain America: The Winter Soldier begins production today, and along with this pensive behind-the-scenes photo, Marvel Studios has declassified a few new details about the upcoming sequel.
While the 2011 original was set during World War II, the sequel — as expected — takes place largely in the present day following the events of last summer’s The Avengers. Jackson) and the 'S.H.I.E.L.D.' organization, while struggling to embrace his role in the modern world.
In the new film, actor Sebastian Stan returns as 'James "Bucky" Barnes' who becomes a brainwashed Russian assassin known as the 'Winter Soldier'.
According to the original Marvel Comics storyline, in 1945 Captain America and Bucky tried to stop the villain 'Baron Zemo' from destroying an experimental drone plane, after Zemo launches the plane with an attached explosive device.

Here are a hell of a roster for Chris Evans to choose from the list of names which include Jessica Brown Findlay (Downton Abbey), Emilia Clarke (Game of Thrones), Teresa Palmer (I Am Number Four), Imogen Poots (Fright Night) and Alison Brie (The Five-Year Engagement).
The previously rumored Anna Kendrick and Felicity Jones are now also definitely out of the running.
Along with Evans who is reprising his role as the super soldier turned leader, Sebastian Stan is set to reprise his role as Bucky Barnes, who becomes the titular Winter Soldier and Scarlett Johansson returning to play the Black Widow, who shares significant history with Bucky in the Avengers comics.

During a recent press tour for an NBC comedy, in which duo directors Anthony and Joseph Russo are executive producing, The Huffington Post caught up with Anthony to discuss their latest gig; Marvel's Captain America: The Winter Soldier. While remaining mum on specific story details, the co-director discusses what makes he and his brother capable of helming the anticipated sequel, many ideal and intimidating aspects, and more. On how they sold themselves to land the gig... “We were comic book geeks from a young age and big fantasy geeks. We got to talk to them in detail about that history. They knew that we understood the brand really well and the characters really well. It was a long process, actually, of talking to them over and over again, through a series of meetings over a long period of time. And I think they just -- we were really passionate...

Last we heard, a trio of directors were in contention to helm Marvel’s sequel to “Captain America: The First Avenger”, now that original director Joe Johnston had said adios. The frontrunners for the cushy gig were down to three names: F. Gary Gray (“Law Abiding Citizen”), George Nolfi (“The Adjustment Bureau”), and brothers Anthony and Joseph Russo. It appears the Russo brothers have beat out both Nolfi and Gray, and are now close to “finalizing” a deal to direct the comic book sequel. The Russos are an odd choice to direct. They are known primarily for comedies (“You, Me & Dupree”) and TV sitcoms like “Community”, “Happy Endings”, and “Arrested Development”. Not exactly the kind of resume that would lend itself to a big-budget slam-bang comic book action movie. Then again, Marvel seems to go out of their way to make these “out there” hires. Whoever thought Kenneth Branagh would make a great “Thor” director?...

Disney just made a splash with that awesome trailer for Wreck-It Ralph, but now some big news comes in the form of confirmation of the talent behind the camera for the Captain America sequel slated for release on April 4th, 2014. At the end of March, the shortlist included George Nolfi (The Adjustment Bureau), F. Gary Gray (Law Abiding Citizen) and "Community" duo Anthony and Joseph Russo. Now Heat Vision confirms it will be the latter television duo taking on the sequel for Marvel Studios, though no plot details are currently available for the sequel, other than it will be set after the events of The Avengers. Right now it seems the Captain America sequel is the only Avengers team member with the most mystery for a sequel following the superhero ensemble. Thor 2 already has a villain cast in the form of Mads Mikkelsen (though we still don't know who...

The short list of directors to possibly take on Captain America 2 just got a little shorter. It was revealed a couple of weeks ago that Writer and director of The Adjustment Bureau George Nolfi, F. Gary Gray (The Italian Job), and Anthony and Joseph Russo who are best known for their work on the TV series Community.
We can now scratch F. Gary Gary off that list due to the fact he's in heavy negotiations to direct the Nwa biopic Straight Outta Compton., so he's withdrawn himself from Marvel's list. That leaves the other two directors listed, and whoever else Marvel is talking to that hasn't been revealed yet.
Disney recently set the official release date of the sequel for April 4th, 2012. I'm sad that Joe Johnston isn't coming back to diet the film, so I hope they end up getting someone decent to replace him. So far I'm not...

Remember Marvel's shortlist of potential "Captain America 2" directors? Well, it just got shorter. F. Gary Gray ("The Italian Job," "The Negotiator") has bowed out of the race. This leaves Anthony and Joseph Russo ("Community") and George Nolfi ("The Adjustment Bureau") as Marvel's top choices to helm the superhero sequel, although the studio is reportedly open to other candidates. Joe Johnston directed 2011's "Captain America: The First Avenger." According to Deadline, Gray is in negotiations to direct "Straight Outta Compton" instead. Last week kickstarted what will likely become one of the bigger director races of the next couple months: the search for a Captain America sequel helmer. While the gig is still up for grabs, some names included on the shortlist were George Nolfi (The Adjustment Bureau), Anthony and Joseph Russo (Community) and F. Gary Gray (The Italian Job). Well, it looks like the race has lost one of its runners. According to Deadline, F. Gary Gray is likely out of the running for the Captain America follow-up because he is now in talks to direct Straight Outta Compton, the long in-development biopic about the rap group Nwa. The film will see members Dr. Dre, Ice Cube, and Easy E rise out of south central La and give birth to gangster rap. Marvel Studio has announced that it will release the sequel to "Captain America: The First Avenger" on April 4th, 2014 and that the story will pick up immediately after "The Avengers," with Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) continuing his affiliation with Shield and struggling to embrace his role in the modern world. We recently reported that Joe Johnson, the director of the first film, will not be brought back. The studio has instead put together a list of ten possible replacement, and has already narrowed it down to three contenders: George Nolfi (The Adjustment Bureau), F. Gary Gray (The Italian Job), and Anthony and Joseph Russo (You, Me and Dupree, "Community"). A director will likely be revealed as early as mid-April. The first movie hit theaters last year and went on to gross $368 million worldwide on a $140 million budget.

I hoped you cleared your plans for spring of 2014, as Marvel Studios and Disney have set a release date for their sequel to Captain America: The First Avenger. Joe Johnston‘s film was one of the few superhero blockbusters I’ve thoroughly enjoyed from top to bottom and it looks like their big overall plan is coming together, with the culmination of their efforts arriving in less than a month with The Avengers.
The Captain America sequel will follow the events immediately after Joss Whedon‘s film and will hit theaters April 4th, 2014. This means Iron Man 3 and Thor 2 will be in between, with the former film arriving on May 3rd, 2013 and the latter on November 15th, 2013. The April date is initially odd, considering the previous Marvel superhero releases have all hit in the summer time. But with the idea of a blockbuster season always changing, this earlier release could work.

Community directors sit on the very short list of possible candidates to direct Marvel’s Captain America 2…
The current Marvel slate is pretty well known. After The Avengers, due in the next few weeks, the next film from the studio will be Iron Man 3, which is set for release next summer. Shane Black is directing that one. After that, it’s Thor 2, due at the end of 2013, with Game Of Thrones’ Alan Taylor calling the shots.
Then? Well, it’s widely expected to be Captain America 2, in the summer of 2014 (possibly with an Avengers sequel, although that looks more likely for 2015). However, there’s the small matter of who’s going to be directing the second Captain America movie, as it looks as though Joe Johnston, who helmed the first, isn’t going to get the chance.
According to Vulture, the shortlist for Captain America 2 has been whittled down to some interesting names.

The impending release of The Avengers is the culmination of Marvel's cinematic efforts so far - but by no means the conclusion.
As well as an Iron Man 3 and Thor 2, there will be a Captain America 2 and that's now close to securing a director.
According to New York Magazine's Vulture blog, a field of ten contenders has been whittled down to three: George Nolfi (pictured, writer-director of The Adjustment Bureau, writer on Ocean's Twelve, The Bourne Ultimatum); F. Gary Gray (director of Law Abiding Citizen, The Italian Job); and brothers Anthony and Joseph Russo (director-producers of TV's Community and Arrested Development).
A decision may be made by mid-April, it's reported. A release date has not been announced for Captain America 2 but star Chris Evans hinted it was likely to arrive in 2014 and Neal McDonagh - who played supporting character Dum Dum Dugan in the first adventure - said he...

George Nolfi ("The Adjustment Bureau"), F. Gary Gray ("The Italian Job") and Anthony and Joseph Russo ("You, Me and Dupree") are all under consideration to direct Marvel Studios' "Captain America" sequel reports Vulture.
The site claims this short list has been whittled down from a larger field of ten possible helmers. Further meetings will be held in early April with a decision expected to be made by mid-April.
The Russo brothers seem an odd choice, but the pair have won Emmys and have a strong resume of TV series work including "Community," "Happy Endings" and "Arrested Development".

A pair of new TV spots for The Avengers have arrived and the domestic one titled "Head Count" features what I believe to be the first full look at the villains at the center of Loki's (Tom Hiddleston) alien army and they don't particularly seem too happy. The second trailer is an international one that comes from Brazil, but its still comes in the English language with subtitles and features a different look at the film with the domestic trailer being the one you are primarily going to be interested in if new footage is your thing as The Hulk smashes one of the aliens into the wall, but it still seems to come back for more. But if talks between the two parties went that well,...

Now that Joss Whedon.s The Avengers is in the can and ready to screen, Marvel can continue looking ahead to individual sequels built around Earth.s Mightiest Heroes. Robert Downey Jr. is ready to reunite with Kiss Kiss Bang Bang helmer Shane Black for Iron Man 3. Thor 2 hired Game of Thrones director Alan Taylor after Patty Jenkins exited the project. And now we hear that Captain America is auditioning potential directors for his sequel, tentatively scheduled to reach theaters in 2014. Vulture has a short list of candidates -- some you.d expect, and some from left field. The site says Marvel Studios is looking at George Nolfi (The Adjustment Bureau) and F. Gary Gray (The Italian Job) for the gig. But they also throw this curveball, stating that Community co-directors Anthony and Joseph Russo have a shot at the job. .Kevin [Feige, Marvel Studios. president of production] is a . ...

After The Avengers hits theaters in May the story of the characters will continue with Iron Man 3, Thor 2 and of course Captain America 2. According to a recent report from Vulture, Marvel Studios has cut down a list of ten possible directors to only three, those three directors includes....
Writer and director of The Adjustment Bureau George Nolfi, F. Gary Gray who directed The Italian Job, and then there's Anthony and Joseph Russo who are best known for their work on the TV series Community. it's an odd choice, but Ok, I can role with it. Marvel's been very smart on who they bring in to direct their films, so I think we can trust their choice. My only issue is why they aren't bringing Joe Johnston back to direct the sequel, because he did a hell of an awesome job bringing Captain America to life! I absolutely...

Apparently Marvel has been searching for a director for sometime now. Which means, of course, that Joe Johnston, who directed “Captain America: The First Avenger” won’t be back for the sequel. According to reports, Marvel has already met with a slew of potential replacements, and has narrowed the search down to three likely candidates: F. Gary Gray (“Law Abiding Citizen”), George Nolfi (“The Adjustment Bureau”), and brothers Anthony and Joseph Russo. Of those three (er, four?) likely candidates, I’d have to think Nolfi is the frontrunner, with Gray the back-up plan, and the Russos the “out there” choice. Of course, Marvel head honcho Kevin Feige has been known to go “out there” for his movie directors (remember Kenneth Branagh for “Thor”?), and according to NyMag’s source, that’s apparently Feige’s approach to choosing directors: [Feige] is a ‘vibe guy,’. He likes to see if he gets along...

With the big screen debut of The Avengers just over a month away (aside from a premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival next month), it's already time to start thinking about superhero sequels afterwards. While a sequel to the superhero ensemble is likely a couple years away, the summer of 2013 will bring us more action from Iron Man 3 and Thor 2. Now another Avengers team member is getting his sequel lined up in Captain America 2 as Vulture has a director shortlist including George Nolfi (The Adjustment Bureau), F. Gary Gray (Law Abiding Citizen) and "Community" duo Anthony and Joseph Russo. Wait, what? That's right, the Emmy winning brothers behind episodes of "Community" along with "Arrested Development" and "Happy Endings" are being considered to direct the Captain America sequel. Apparently in meeting with Kevin Feige, Marvel Studios President of Production, they just jived really well together in the room. ...
