“Rust” will resume production Thursday in Montana, with work beginning 18 months after actor Alec Baldwin fired a live round which killed cinematographer Halyna Hutchins while filming in New Mexico. Baldwin will return to the set just two weeks before the start of a court hearing in New Mexico to decide whether he will stand trial for a felony charge of involuntary manslaughter over the October 2021 incident.
Melina Spadone, an attorney for Rust Movie Productions, affirmed that filming would resume at Montana’s Yellowstone Film Ranch set. Baldwin settled a lawsuit this past October with the late Hutchins’ husband, Matt Hutchins, which involved filming restarting with the same actors and with Joel Souza remaining in the director’s chair.

Update, with video: “Every holiday, Christmas, New Year’s, our anniversary, my birthday, Valentine’s Day, I mean, every holiday is difficult without her,” Matt Hutchins, who filed a wrongful death lawsuit last week against Rust producers and Alec Baldwin over the death of his wife Halyna Hutchins, said this morning on Today.
Speaking to Hoda Kotb, Hutchins described an early phone call with Baldwin shortly after the death of Halyna Hutchins. “I feel like to understand that moment you have to remember the shock we were in,” he said. “I spoke to Mr. Baldwin and was just looking for a way through the storm. There were a lot of emotions, for sure, on both sides.”
Hutchins said that later, after seeing Baldwin’s tearful interview on ABC News, his feelings shifted. “Watching him I just felt so angry to see him talk about her death publicly in such a...

Matt Hutchins, the husband of “Rust” cinematographer Halyna Hutchins, who was killed during the film’s shoot by a prop gun held by Alec Baldwin on set in New Mexico in October, has spoken out for the first time.
In his first televised appearance since the shooting and also following a wrongful death suit filed by the family earlier in February, Matt Hutchins said he is “so angry” that Alec Baldwin didn’t “accept any responsibility” for Hutchins’ death during an interview on “Today” with Hoda Kotb. The show shared a clip on Wednesday evening, with the full interview set to air on Thursday.
A star and producer on the film, Baldwin was holding the prop gun that discharged when Hutchins was killed. In an ABC News interview back in December, Baldwin claimed he did not pull the trigger. “I would never point a gun at anyone and pull a trigger at them.
